So - do I need stitches?

darlin first of all ouch and

Now if its gaping then you need to go get it seen to. They may not use conventional stitches if you need them. They might use the butterfly tape stuff (words are failing me there for the name of it but I'm sure someone will know.) and close the wound that way. No pain and you can always ask if there is any other way to take care of it besides stitches. And watch yourself as well since you could have given yourself a concussion.

Heal well and go get seen  :rose:

Problem is, the wound gapes a bit. So I'm wondering whether or not I need stitches.

You probably don't need stitches, but you do need to get the wound cleaned and closed up.

Depending on how big and how close to the eybrow the wound is, they may use butterfly closures or they may use "superglue" but they probably won't use actual stitches unless it's HUGE wound.

You could run down to the local Walgreens or other 24 hour pharmacy and buy some butterfly closures and close it yourself -- or more precisely have a family member close it for you; trying to bandage a wound by working in the mirror is a pain in more ways than one.

go to a doc..get it looked at..now girl! then come back and tell us about it! :rose:

Don't wait till tomorrow,go now. If it's gaping it'll scar worse than a closed up wound.
Even if you do need stitches they'll be there for a maximum five days in a facial wound, expecially near an eye (been there, done that). A plastic surgeon's resident told me that, when he was taking out the stitches near my eyebrow.

dumb.

I long to be graceful. Or at least better coordinated.

Note to all:

S3's christmas list: A football helmet, knee pads and elbow pads, a mouth guard, steel toe boots, gloves and a box of bandaids. :cathappy:

I already own everything except the steel toe boots.

Ahem.

( )

I'd like to see you in just the knee pads.

Well, ok, I'm kinky, knee pads, panties and the football helmet.

:rose:

A black eye is the least of your worries. To the emergency clinic, GO!

Go to the emergency room and be sure a plastic surgeon does the suturing. A consultation from an opthalmologist might be in order, too. You do not want to mess around with your eyes!

Listen to the witch. You don't want to mess around with facial tissue and scarring. Keep us updated. Sending healing vibes your way. :rose:

Mm. The wife was cutting up a pumpkin tonight, as a veg for the roast chicken. Unfortunately she put her fingers under the knife as she was cutting it. So, a quick trip down to A&E at the 'local' hospital 7 miles away. Waiting time was supposed to be an hour, but she was seen to after about ten minutes, and out the door after another two and a few stitches.

I cooked the dinner tonight. Looks like I'll be doing the dishes for the foreseeable future.

The last time I made pumpkin soup, I managed to hack up the pumpkin without drama. I did take the tip off a finger slicing the bread to go with it.

SSS, maybe we should form a klutz club. ;)

I knew a fellow did that slicing a bagel. We got him one of these things, they don't call it a miter box for bagels, but that's basically what it is.

Good to hear you're on the mend. Now the really important question: How's the car?

Mega-congrats on your Jayhawks being ranked second behind my Tigers. Hope both hang on and meet in New Orleans. (for the initiated, that was US college football talk)

Rumple Foreskin

How'd I miss this yesterday?

(Oh, that's right. I was drinking  )

I'm glad you got the wound cleaned up, sweets. Don't worry about the scarring. The face heals more efficiently than most any other part of the body, from what I understand.

Either way, I'd still make out with ya again. ;)

Don't forget they have that anti-biotic ointment that is supposed to reduce the appearence of scars, Myderma or something. You might want to start applying that right away. Hope the rum has kicked in by now!! :D
