Hi. My name is Adrian from Sussex and one half of the Art Photographic Partnership, with my partner and model Hannah. We are a new company producing Limited Edition Fine art prints of our erotic imamages from work inspired by the early pioneers from the mid 1800's to the present day and beyond. We are also willing to accept specific commissions but state clearly that we produce erotic images and do not stray into pornography. I think that's cool, taking inspiration from 19th century work as well as more modern pieces. I hope that you post some soon, I'd like to see some. (But I'm not so desperate that I can't wait. )

We thought so. The early photographers with limited equipment and resources still managed to produce excellent work. We are trying with hours to capture the naivity and frequent humour of their images while using modern techniques and equipment. Out more up to date images show a great deal of emotion and chemistry that comes from the close, trusting and almost empathic relationship that Hannah and myself are fortunate to share. Thanks again for your supportive words they are appreciated. I have posted an image from a series of 32 showing a late Victorian girl's reaction to discovering her fathers French naughty magazine. All costumes and props are authentic inclusing the 1902 copy of Le Tutu.

Just a general question...why does pornography have such a bad connotation?

3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction

As I see it, these definitions are similar enough for the two terms to be considered synonyms...

Erotica/pornography

You very nearly hit the nail on the head yourself there.

This sums up the difference on two levels
a) Sesationalism
b) Quick response
Erotica is designed to stimulate the mind, allowing the imagination of the viewer/reader to work and slowly arouse the emotions, where-as pornography these days is normally cheap and blatant designed for just one thing. A quick physical response usually in one area of the anatomy and often involving a fair degree on hand and wrist action.
There is very little artistic value in pornography. When these definitions were written there was less of a chasm between the two. "Pornography" (from the Ancient Greek meaning Graphical depiction of Harlots) has been with us for centuries, if not Millennia. However in recent years. (Late 1960's onwards) the Porn market has been taken over by the "Fast Buck Merchants" and the gap between it and erotic art has widened greatly. Yes Pornography loosely speaking can be regarded as erotic in the broadest sense of the word but true Erotic Art should in no way be able to be described as Pornography.
