So, 4est...

We had a big storm on Friday. There were still a few puddles last night.

I declined to get out and play in them.

It was past my bedtime.

And I wanted a snackie snack.

It rained two days ago.

If anything, it was a drying rain.

No fourth of July for us it looks like...

Usually, the monsoon would have just tapered off and we would have another two months before the fall monsoon would begin.

I'm keeping about an acre green in the hopes that it might slow fire and keep the garden alive.

Everyone here planted corn. It doesn't look good...

Ah. Sounds like you're in a good spot.

Did you choose it for that reason?

Here, surface water is generally more economical.

Job and Educational opportunities.

When we got here, we chose this parcel because of its relative seclusion.

Yeah, we have plenty of surface water too. We overlook two really big ponds and when it rains, we have two creeks crossing the property...

Remember, I'm right off the Mississippi, so my well taps into its water table.

;) ;)

It also helps to live near Lake Michigan. We never run out of water.

It has been so dry though that we aren't bothering to water the grass. It will come back when we finally get rain.

I'm watering some of it; just to keep the John Deere lubricated...

Not worth the effort. I had an automatic watering system put in 20 years ago. It needs a bit of repair work that patient1 hasn't gotten around to. But watering by hand? Nope. Not worth my time.
