Sam was an author who had decided to spend a week in a cabin by himself to help him concentrate. His ex-wife and kids were always bothering him and someone always seemed to be at his doorstep, trying to get an interview or something. He thought this little get away, locked away by himself with plenty of supplies, would be perfect. He thought it would help him get back into the writing mood, as he hadn't written anything new in quite some time.

IC:

Sam found her out by the trail, he had no clue what she was doing out in that weather. She's lucky he found her, she was unconscious, laying there in the middle of the snow. He heard her cries for help, and it wasn't until 15 minutes later that he found her.

He knew there was going to be a terrible snow storm coming in, but it didn't bother him because he planned on spending most of my week inside the cabin he had rented. She apparently wasn't aware of how bad the weather would be. He didn't know if she had been hiking alone or with friends, or what. He would have to wait for her to wake up to ask her.

Wrapping her in a blanket, He carried the young woman back to my cabin and laid her on the couch near the fireplace. He removed her sweater as it was soaked, and then had to remove her shirt as well. He really didn't want to do this, but he didn't think he'd get any pleasure out of it. He was doing it for her own good, having those clothes on would do her no good. He then removed her pants, and hung up her clothes to dry near the fire place. He dressed her in some cargo pants of his and a shirt, since he didn't want her to be half naked when she woke up. That would certainly freak her out.

He got a good look at her though when she was down to her bra and thong and she was beautiful. She had to be in her earlier 20s, a cute face, and a well toned body. She would have died if it wasn't for him. She'd have to stay in the cabin for at least a couple of days. Listening to the radio, it seemed the storm wouldn't calm down for a while.

It was getting late, so he went to sleep... and when he awoke, she was still asleep. She seemed to be in better condition now, her body was a lot warmer. He made himself some warm tea and toast for breakfast and after eating that, he settled down in the loveseat opposite her with his notes and his laptop, to continue working on the book he had started working on.

After a few minutes, he noticed her stirring... eventually, she opened her eyes, rubbing them, and she looked up at him.

"Good morning," he greeted her. He could tell she was a bit confused about where she was and how she got here. He would explain it all to her. First, he just waited for her to say something...

Mandy had just turned 23. Her gift to herself a relaxing trip away from her job, away from her family and friends, just the quiet she needed to get herself back on track. She had been works as a photographer and was tired of taking pictures of skinny models with huge attitudes. Now was about her...

IC:

She had arrived at her cabin only hours before deciding to take a quick hike up the side of the mountain. Mandy knew that there would be a storm on the way and wanted to get in a breath of fresh air before more snow came down and she would be stuck inside. She put on her boots, tied her long blond hair back and began the hike.

She loved the crisp air, it helped her feel alive, made her believe that things weren't so bad. Watching the snow fall in front of her she stopped to become a kid again, her head bent skyward as she tried catching snowflakes. Mandy couldn't help but laugh as several hit her nose, then her eyes. They seemed to miss her mouth completly.

With her head skyward, she didn't see a rock sticking out of the snow and tripped, her head hitting a nearby tree and knocking her out. She lay there for so long, snow begining to cover her, her body temp droping as it did. She showed no signs of waking when she was stumbled upon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Slowly Mandy's eyes opened, she felt strange. Her head hurt, it hurt like hell. The last thing she remembered was trying to catch snow in her mouth. Had she triped? Hit her head? Where was she now?
It was then she heard a voice. Someone was with her there, slowly she turned her head and saw a man. One she didn't know but for some reason looked kind and not wanting to hurt her. Mandy eyed him for a moment before speaking.
"Where am I? Who are you? I don't remember too much, I think I fell," she said not wanting to let him know she'd been playing like a child in the snow.
“You are in my cabin, I found you unconscious out in the snow. You were about to freeze to death. My name is Sam by the way, and with the way the forecast sounds, I think you’re stuck here for a few days.” Sam said with a welcoming smile to her. “From the look of the bump on your head, I would have to agree that you fell and knocked it on something. Let me get something cold for you to put on it.” He said and got up, getting a wash cloth and some ice for her.
“I’m sorry about the clothes, it was the best I could do. Yours were soaked and I knew you would never get warm if they stayed on you.” He said as he walked back to her, gently laying the cloth on the bump on her head.
“So, tell me, …… I’m sorry, I don’t think I’ve gotten your name…… What were you doing out there by yourself?” he said as he sat back in his chair, looking across the small room at her. His eyes were drawn down her body, watching the slow rise and fall of her chest as she breathed, his mind flashing back to the sight of her in just her bra
“Can I get you anything, something to eat, something to drink?” he said quickly, hoping the slight tremor in his voice didn’t betray his thinking.
He mentioned the bump on her head and instictively her hand went there. She felt the large egg on the side of her head, her hand running lightly over it befre she winced at the tenderness. Mandy hadn't know really what had happened, only guessed, now it was obvious. She had to have tripped over something and then hit her head.
Her clothes, she hadn't even noticed them untl he mentioned it. She should be thankful. She was, really, everything was all a little of a shock to her at the moment. Falling, getting knocked out, finding herself now in this man's cabin. Had he not found her though, she'd be out there, frozen. She could have died, he had saved her life. Sam had saved her.
"They are fine, thank you..." she muttered.
He handed her some ice wrapped in a towel which she laid on her head. Her eyes closed and she let out a little sigh she hadn't known she been holding in. So much for a quiet relaxing trip to her cabin. Now she was stuck with someone else until the storm decided to blow over. Things could be worse she guessed. Atleast the man seemed very nice, clean, not a sleeze like most guys she knew. Those that would have taken off her clothes and then left her nude. He had been kind emough to cover her up, not leaving her feeling so afraid.
"My names Mandy, I'm sorry for getting myself stuck here with you. I can't thank you enough for helping me. I was trying to get in a hike before the snow fell, I'm needing a break from the busy life of work. This was to be a relaxing trip...."
Mandy laid her head back down on the pllow and she closed her eyes. She felt so tired, so exhausted. Being stuck out in the snow could do that to a peson she would guess. She snuggled into the blankets she had been given, wanting the warmth to somehow seep into her, into her bones.
“Can I get you anything, something to eat, something to drink?”
"Something hot, some tea and soup if you have it. I don't want to put you out at all."
“Mandy…really, it’s no bother, and it should only be for a day or two…… I’ll see what I have.” Sam said as he got up and went into the kitchen and started to prepare a little hot meal for her, talking as he did. I’m out here for a little get away too. I’m an author and my editor has been clamoring for my next book. I can’t seem to get my mind on track for it with my ex-wife and kids demanding time, plus people wanting interviews, the publishers wanting book signings, all that. So I decided to take a week up here away from everything and concentrate on it.”
He stood in the kitchen waiting for the soup to heat and the water to get hot for the tea. When it was ready, he put it all on a tray and carried it into her “Here ya go hun.” He said as he gently set the tray across her lap as she up a little, moaning at the throbbing in her head.
“Maybe I should get you a couple of asprin too, hu?” he said playfully with a light grin and went into the bathroom, returning with a couple of asprin “Here ya go.” He said laying them on the tray.
“So Mandy, what is it that you needed a break from? What do you do for a living?” he asked, looking across the small room at her again, realizing for the first time the magnificent blue color of her eyes.
Mandy listened him as he talked. Telling her about his life, his family. She smiled feeling more and more at easy with the situation she was finding herself in. After all it was her fault for not being more careful and paying attention to her surroundings. Besides who goes hiking with a storm brewing. She did obviously, the more she thought about it she knew she really hadn't been thinking at all before leaving. She had just been needing a break, a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle she felt on a daily basis.
"Thank you. This is perfect," she said with a slight throb to her head. Mandy only smiled when he mentioned getting some asprin. That would actually help her.
She slowly began to eat, everything warming her cold body. It felt as though she was regaining much more feeling in her legs, her toes. Could be just a play of her brain. Mandy wasn't a doctor, wasn't sure of much other then it made her warmer. Also that she'd been very stupid in getting herself stuck out here in the snow. Had it not been for him, well she didn't want to think about that.
"I'm a photographer. I do lots of shoots for magazines, dealing with fashion models. It can become very draining. Thats why I needed a break. All my creative energy is about gone. I thought getting away for a little while would be the perfect idea. Guess I just shouldn't have stumbled into the snow
thinking a hike was a good idea. I don't care to think about what would have happened had you not stumbled upon me."
Her eyes darted back down to her tray. She took her asprin finally, the warm tea running down her throat, making her close her eye's and sigh softly. Mandy had never thought anything could feel as good. She finished eating, watched as the man who saved her took her tray and she lay her head back down. Her eyes drifting closed and slowly she feel back into a content sleep. Knowing she was safe, having something in her tummy It all seemed to relax her.
Sam sat and watched her as she ate, listening to her talk about working with fasion models “I can see where that could be pretty exhausting.”
He could see she was still a bit uneasy about the whole situation, being cooped up in this little cabin with a stranger, unsure of exactly where she was. He smiled at her as he took her tray “Do you want anything else?” he said and realized she was lying back down.
When she didn’t reply, he quietly walked back and saw that she had dozed off again and he gently covered her with the blanket again. He put another log on the fire and folded her clothes, laying them on a pile on the hearth of the fire place so they’d be nice and warm if she wanted them later.
He went back to his chair and fired up his lap top, going to work on the book that he was there to write in the first place. The words flowed from his mind as he wrote, occasionally glancing over at Mandy as she slept. After a couple of hours he thought about waking her, remembering people saying not to let someone with a concussion sleep to much.
He moved his computer aside and walked to her “Mandy….” He said softly as he gently nudged her “…. hi there hun, you might want to wake up for a bit.” He said as her eyes slowly drifted open. “I’m not sure if you have one, but they say not to let someone with a concussion sleep to long, and I’d rather be safe then sorry.” He said as he walked to the kitchen, returning with a glass of water for her.
She had sat up and scooted against the arm of the couch, leaving enough room for him to sit by her feet. “How ya feelin’?” he said as he sat and looked at her, his eyes again drawn to the beauty of hers, the color was indescribable to him. Her face was the perfect combination of cuteness and beauty. He felt something, but wasn’t sure exactly what it was. An unfamiliar feeling in his stomach.
Mandy felt someone trying to wake her. Her eyes opened slowly, seeing Sam there reminding her that she shouldn't sleep for too long. Moving up she rested her arm on the couch. Her feet tucked up underneath her. She watched as he sat down next to her. She felt odly comfortable with him. Mandy guessed was good seeing as though she was currently stuck with him.
“How ya feelin’?”
"Better thank you Sam. I think you're right about not letting me sleep. I really shouldn't be sleeping so much."
Mandy looked around the room. She saw that her clothes were folded and laid near her. They must be dry she thought. Instantly her mind drifted to thoughts of a hot shower. The warm water falling over her sore limbs. It would also help her to wake up. Looking over at Sam she hoped he wouldn't mind.
"Do you think I could take a shower? It would help wake me up, get me moving around."
Sam nodded in agreement and she followed him as he showed her were the bathroom was and all the things she would need. She was very greatful to him. Closing the door she put her clothes on the small stand and turned on the hot water. Mandy began to take off her clothes, folding them even though she had worn them. THen she stepped into the water.
It felt even better then she had thought it would. The warmth moved into her bones, all over her body. She stood there for several minutes taking it all in. Knowing how lucky she was, how different things could have been for her had Sam not found her. She smiled thinking about him. Mandy thought he was a very attractive man.
His dark hair and piercing eyes. They were the things she noticed almost right away after she gathered herself. His hands too, they seemed very strong. She admitted to herself that she was attracted but wasn't planning on acting on it. She owed this man alot, her very life it seemed. Besides he had kids, an ex. He probably didn't want any kind of relationship.
Mandy washed her hair, her body. It felt wonderful for her to be clean. Her body had never felt better. She smiled at her reflection as she began to dress. Using his comb she ran it through her hair. It was still a little damp, not too much. She felt so much better, so much more awake. She walked out carrying the old clothes and called for Sam.
"Sam, these clothes... Where should I put them?"
Sam showed Mandy to the bathroom and showed her where the towels were, where all the toiletries were, including an extra toothbrush if she wanted it “Feel free to use anything you find.” He said with a smile as he walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
He went to the kitchen and started getting a light lunch together for them as he heard the water start for the shower. The image of her in just her bra and thong popped back into his head, causing him to stop what he was doing for a moment until he was able to shake it off.
He realized just how quiet things were in the cabin as he could hear the water of the shower splashing through the wall between the kitchen and bathroom. He went and turned the stereo on, letting some soft instrumental music drift through the structure. As he turned, he glanced out the window and saw that it was beginning to snow even harder and it looked like the wind was beginning to pick up.
He went back to making their lunch, shaking his head at the weather. He made them both a hot ham and cheese sandwich and put them on some plates along with some chips. He made them both a mug of tea and brought it all to the table just as Mandy was coming out of the bathroom carrying his clothes “You can just lay them on the back of the couch there…. I’ll take care of them after we eat. I hope you like hot ham and cheese.” He said when he realized he should have asked first.
His eyes were again drawn to her as she walked towards the table. The color of her eyes, the gentle sway of her hips, her damp hair falling around her shoulders – “what was it about women with their hair wet that made a guy pay more attention?” he thought to himself. He pulled a chair out for her after realizing he was staring and he shook his head lightly, trying to bring himself back to reality.
He sat across the small table from her “Feel better?” he said before taking a bite of his sandwich. He tried to keep his eyes from looking at her, a bit afraid of how he’d react to her, but failing miserably as his eyes were drawn to her like magnets to steel.
Mandy put the clothes just where Sam had told her. She smiled as he mentioned food and her tummy grumbled. Obviously the food smelled good to her. She could only smile as they both sat down to the table. He had taken the noise of her tummy as answer enough. She took a sip of her drink before answering Sam.
"I feel so much better. The hot water really seemed to wake my body up. I hope that I'm not keeping you from your writing Sam. I know thats why you were up here. You don't have to sit with me if your writing."
Mandy didn't really want him to leave her but she wasn't the reason for him being up in the moutains. She was a stupid accident he had stumbled upon. Still Mady couldn't believe what she had done. That she had been stupid enough to head out in such weather. She closed her eyes for a moment before shaking it off and opening them to see Sam looking back at her.
"Sorry just can't get over how stupid I was by going out before the storm. I knew it was coming but still didn't stop the thought from going out. Had you not found me...."
She stoped, her voice faltering. Mandy couldn't believe the thought still got to her. She had hoped to be all cried out by now but it wasn't the case it seemed. Leaning her head in her hands she softly cried. She was afraid and thankful, nothing liking getting knocked out in the snow to make someone realize certain things in their life.
She felt Sam's hands move to her back, lightly rubbing it. There was no pressure there, just a friend helping another. Mandy turned her head and leaned on him. It felt nice to have someone there, someone to help hold her up when she was so down. She didn't even know the man too much and he was helping her more then most friends would.
"I'm sorry Sam, I've just been so out of it...." she said wipping her eyes and looking up at him.
Sam smiled and chuckled a little as Mandy’s stomach growled “Don’t worry Mandy, I needed a break for a bit anyway. You really are no bother.” He said, lightly patting her hand as they ate.
He was about to ask her if she was alright after she closed her eyes when she looked at him "Sorry just can't get over how stupid I was by going out before the storm. I knew it was coming but still didn't stop the thought from going out. Had you not found me...."
The quiver in his voice made him reach for her again, comforting her as the tears started down her cheeks. He put his hand on her shoulder as she hid in her hands “It’s ok Mandy, really. We all make mistakes. I’m just glad I was here to hear you and that I was able to find you.” He said as he lightly rubbed her back, trying to calm her.
He wrapped his arm around her shoulder as she leaned into his chest, his other hand lightly brushing through her hair, wiping the tears from her cheek. He heard her words as she looked up at him, his eyes looking into the deepest blue pool he could have ever imagine. He fought the urge to kiss her, instead giving her a light peck on the forehead.
God he wanted to kiss her, but he had just met her and didn’t feel right playing on her emotions. He didn’t want her to think he expected anything for bringing her inside before the snow hit. He glanced down again and moved away from her “Don’t worry, I can still write with you here, as long as you don’t get to wild” he said with a wink “and I have plenty of food here so that won’t be a problem either.” He said, patting her head again as he stood to clear the table.
“I want you to feel comfortable here, so anything you find, feel free to use it, eat it, whatever you want. I honestly don’t mind.” He said as he bent and kissed the top of her head as he walked past her with the dishes. “Do you want anything else?” he asked politely from the kitchen. His body was telling him what he wanted, but he didn’t dare act on it or tell her what he was thinking. “Excuse me for a moment” he said and walked to the bathroom, hoping she wouldn’t see the slight bulge forming in his pants.
Mandy watched as Sam left the room. Her mind in a whirl of thoughts. The guy seemed so sweet, so caring. She felt an almost instant attraction but didn't want to act on, not yet. What would he think of her then, who knows what he thought now. Having found her in the snow, her lame excuse for going out in it. The fact that she was complaining about photographing models for a living. It seemed like a dream job...
It had been until she had begun dating one of the male model. Austin was his name. He did all the shots for Polo. A good looking guy and at first seemed to really like Mandy. Then things changed, before she knew it she was just taking more photo's for him. Ones to help him with his career. He didn't want to pay, wait his payment was sex or so he thought. One day Mandy had come home and seen him in her bed with some other girl. That had been it for her. Out he went and off she went to her cabin.
So Mandy hadn't been totally honest with Sam. She left out the fact that she had fallen for the cute guy routine. One would have to think she was young and so immature to not have seen it. She had been blinded but now was fully aware and so just because she was attracted didn't mean she would just fall into bed with him. Who knows they were trapped together for an unknown amount of time maybe they would get to know each other.
Getting up Mandy moved into the kitchen, saw the few dishes in the sink still and began to do them. She guessed it was only right she start to help out. The plates and cups, everything she and Sam had used she washed then put away where she found it belonged. In looking through the kistchen she found the makings for chilli. That would be delicious for dinner. That was on thing Mandy could do just as good as photography. Cooking has always been a stress reliever for her and so she hoped Sam wouldn't mind as she sat out a few things to begin their dinner. Cooking it slow was the key and it would be so good.
She saw Sam come back into the kitchen, look around for the dishes and Mandy couldn't help but smile. "I did them and put them away. Then I saw you had everything to make chilli and thought I would hope you don't mind?"
He shook his head and Mandy went back to putting everything into the pot. She turned it on low letting and let the sauce slowly cook as she browned the meat. Mandy couldn't help but feel Sam looking at her, his eyes on her, it warmed her body in a way she shouldn't want. She had convinced herself to not give into it and now how she wanted to. Being strong thought she'd fight it, atleast till they had known each other more. Then she couldn't guarantee anything.
Sam walked back into the kitchen to finish cleaning up the dishes from their lunch and was a bit confused to see them already done. He smiled when Mandy said she had done them and already put them away “Thank you, but you didn’t have to do that, really. You’re my guest.”
“Chili sounds great, especially with this weather” he said as she told him what she was preparing “Is there anything I can do to help?” he asked, gently putting his hand on her shoulder and watching her as she added more to the pot. ”I think I got it, you go ahead and write” she said with a smile, glancing at his hand on her shoulder.
He followed her eyes and realized what he was doing “Oh… sorry…. I….. I didn’t mean….” He said and quickly moved his hand. ”don’t worry about it Sam, it’s no biggy” she said with a little chuckle at his stammering. Sam turned and quickly walked back to his laptop and started typing.
“By the way Mandy” he called out to her “I don’t know if you read or anything, but there are some books on the shelf next to the fire place…. I think there might even be some photography books there, feel free to look through them, they were here when I got here.” He said glancing at the shelf “Actually, just feel free to look around, do what ever you want to do. I don’t want you to feel like you have to ask my permission to do whatever you want.” He said glancing toward the kitchen, watching her briefly, thinking to himself even walk around here naked.
He couldn’t believe he had thought that, and shook his head, trying to clear the thought before going back to his writing, occasionally looking up to watch her as she walked around the cabin, looking it all over… “If you want, feel free to put some music on, there’s a descent selection of CD’s there…” he said, smiling at her.
Mandy walked to the stereo and looked through the cd’s, finally taking one out of it’s case and putting it in the player. Some light Jazz music started to play as she grabbed a book and sat on the couch, flipping through it…..
Mandy walked over to the stereo and put in a cd. The sounds of smooth jazz filled the room. She couldn’t help but slowly sway to the music. Her eyes drifting closed just a moment before she remembered she wasn’t alone. Then she moved over to the book shelf. Finding a book was easy, there were so many she hadn’t read yet and wanted to. It amazed her. She picked up one; it was a romantic love story. Something Mandy knew she was lacking in her own life.
Curling up on the couch she pulled a blanket to cover her feet. It felt nice, comfortable there with Sam. Nothing seemed forced and she felt free. She found it difficult to explain the rightness of it but who was she to complain. She only smiled slightly as she opened her book and began reading. Mandy became immersed in it. She felt like she was there, part of the story, living with these people. The time seemed to pass by so fast when she realized they were both sitting in silence, the music had stopped.
“I guess I was so into the book I hadn’t heard it stop,” Mandy said with a chuckle.
“Neither did I, was writing for once,” Sam smiled at her.
“I’ll put on another if you don’t mind,” she said already walking to the stereo and placing a new one in as he shook his head.
This new cd was more blues but had a very soulful side to it. Mandy slightly swayed her hips as the music began. She danced her way into the kitchen wanting check on the chili. The smell was wonderful. It made her mouth water. That she found was happening often around Sam. It had nothing to do with food she was only growing more attracted to him. Yet Mandy had no idea if he felt anything at all towards her. Yes he had touched her shoulder, been there when she cried but maybe it was all Florence Nightingale syndrome. Could she only be attracted to him because he saved her life? She highly doubted it. It was so unlike her, but then who knew she’d fall for the asshole she’d just left.
“Dinner should be ready in about half an hour Sam,” she said as she sat back down and began the book again, hoping to get lost in that other world for just a little longer.
Sam sat and watched as Mandy put in the CD. He smiled as the soft jazz filled the room and she started to sway to the music. His eyes automatically watching her body as it moved to the rhythm. He chuckled as he saw her blush slightly when she remembered she wasn’t alone and walked to the shelves, picking out a book. He couldn’t help but notice she’d picked out a romance novel, and chuckled softly to himself “Typical, women and their love stories” he thought to himself.
He watched her move to the couch and cover back up with the blanket and went back to his book. He became so involved in his writing that he hadn’t realized the music had stopped and had actually forgotten he wasn’t alone. At least until Mandy mentioned the music stopping. Something about the entire situation had opened his mind and the words had just poured from him into his computer. He realized he had written two chapters of his book in the short time they had been sitting there.
She read his mind and moved to the stereo to put in a new cd, politely asking if he minded as she did. “Feel free, I’ll listen to almost anything” he said with a smile.
“The chili is smelling wonderful. It’s making me even more hungry” he said as he watched her again dancing to the bluesy music filling the room. The sway of her hips drawing and capturing his eyes, he found himself unable to look away from her. He thought it was simply the fact that she was young and beautiful, and they were alone, but he realized there was something about her, a seeming innocence, that also held his attention.
“Sounds great.” He said as she sat back down and started to read her book. He got up and went to his room, retrieving his portable printer and plugged it into his laptop. “So, Mandy, I hate to interrupt you with that book, but would you be willing to read a bit of my book to tell me what you think? After dinner of course.” he said as he started to print it out.
He looked over at her and couldn’t help but notice again the color of her eyes, how the light of the room and of the fire glimmered in them, almost hypnotic. He stared into them ”I’d love to Sam” she said with a smile. ”What?” she said after a pause, causing Sam to realize he’d been staring.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to stare, it’s just…. Never mind. It’s just me being silly.” He said with a blush as he looked away, sorting the sheets as they rolled out of the printer. He glanced over as she got up and checked the chili again, forcing himself to look away, to not watch her walk into the kitchen. He closed his eyes and shook his head, “Don’t be stupid Sam…” he mumbled to himself under his breath.
”This looks ready Sam” he heard her call from the kitchen. He stood and walked in, the smell of it growing as he got closer causing his stomach to audibly growl. He stepped up next to her as she stirred and reached above her foe some bowls, his body lightly brushing hers, causing his breath to catch…. “Um…. It smells wonderful Mandy” he said, trying to hide the shock he felt from their simple touch……
Mandy moved into the kitchen smiling as she went, she would soon be reading Sam’s story, knowing he trusted her opinion even though they had just met was making her happy. Reaching the kitchen she thought how wonderful the food smelled through the house. It made her tummy grumble, she almost laughed out loud at that. She opened the lid of the pot and took in a deep breath, dinner smelled delicious. Taking a little onto the spoon she brought it to her mouth and it tasted wonderful, absolutely perfect.
“This looks ready Sam,” she told him.
She didn’t watch him walk in but could feel him. Her body was reacting to be close to him, to his smell, to the idea of being with a man. It was something she was missing, something her body was craving. That was what Mandy was trying to tell herself. Did she really believe that, no but what did it matter. She believed Sam wasn’t interested in her; it was only that fascination of him saving her that made her think her feelings were so strong, right. She shook her head hearing him behind her, talking about the food and brushing against her as he reached for the bowls.
What he did to her body with a simple touch was amazing. She took the bowls from Sam and began filling them while he moved on to get them something to drink. She suddenly felt very domesticated. Perhaps it was due to the fact that she hadn’t been this comfortable with anyone, ever. It was strange slightly that she felt this way yet it didn’t. Mandy brought their food to the table seeing that Sam had got her more iced tea and even brought some crackers. She smiled before sitting down.
“I hope it tastes as good as it smells. “
“I’m sure it’ll be delicious,” he said before taking a bite.
She tentatively took one of her own, the chili tasted divine. She didn’t know she could be such a good cook. Her mother had always said she made the wrong choice of profession. She thought now she should have listened, Mandy wouldn’t feel so burnt out she decided. Maybe she’d think about changing careers, it was never too late. She shrugged before taking another bite; it really was good she decided.
“So Sam what do you think? Do I pass or fail?” she smiled at him.
Sam hesitated a moment as Mandy reached for the bowls and started to fill them, his mind wondering what was going on, why such a simple touch could make him react the way he had. He looked at her briefly before moving to get them something to drink, filling a couple of glasses with more iced tea. Something about this situation seemed so comfortable to him, almost coupleish. The thought brought a small grin to his face and made him shake his head at himself.
He took them and some crackers to the table, setting them down just as Mandy came to the table with their bowls.
“I hope it tastes as good as it smells. “ she said as she they sat.
“I’m sure it’ll be delicious,” he said before taking a bite.
Sam was impressed with the chili. He was shocked that she had found the spices she needed in the limited supply in the kitchen, unless she just improvised, either way, it was really good.
“Definitely pass. I have to say, this is the best chili I think I’ve ever had.” He said with a smile before devouring it. The entire time he was eating, his eyes kept drifting to her, watching her, looking at her.
They both finished about the same time and Sam stood “Would you like a refill?” he asked reaching for her bowl. He refilled them and brought them back to the table, smiling at her as he sat. Their conversation through the rest of diner was light, just chatting about their work.
When they finished, Sam took the bowls to the sink to wash them, followed closely by Mandy with the glasses “I can get these, there isn’t much here” he said, but she quickly rejected the thought by her taking the dish soap from him and giving him a little hip bump moving him over “Ok, we’ll do them together” he said finding a container to put the left over chili in, then grabbing a towel to dry.
After they had the dishes done and put away, they walked back into the living room and Sam handed Mandy what he had printed earlier “Here ya go, you’re the first to read it. Take your time, it looks like we’ll have a couple of days” he said motioning toward the window.
Mandy sat on one end of the couch with her knees up, again covered by the blanket. Sam turned on the TV to catch the latest weather updates. He had to sit on the couch to see it and sat on the other end from Mandy. As he shifted slightly, his hand brushed her feet under the blanket, lingering in the contact a moment longer than necessary. He glanced down at his hand and noticed her toes slowly wiggling under the blanket. His eyes looked at her and noticed a slight tint to her cheeks...
She took his story and sat down pulling the soft blanket around her. She wasn’t sure if Sam would be sitting next to her or continue writing. Mandy couldn’t help but smile when he sat down next her and turned on the television. She could feel the warmth of his body so close and wiggled her toes to be even nearer to him. It was then she felt the slight brush of his hand. Her feet moved even closer after that, as if she craved his nearness.
“Ss...Sorry,” Mandy muttered.
Her cheeks she could feel starting to turn red. She was actually blushing. Mandy couldn’t believe it, she felt like a school girl. She pulled the blanket tighter around her body and began to read the story. She didn’t want to think too much about the simple touches that were happening between her and Sam. She already was reading too much into it she thought.
The time passed quickly as she was immersing herself into the words that he had written. He had a way with detail. Simple things she could actually envision because of his choice in wording. She was drawn into the story, feeling like she was part of. Page after page she continued reading not realizing he watched her every so often or even seeing that it was growing dark. Soon though she had read through every page and looked at Sam.
“It is amazing. I want more. I have to know what else happened to these people. You write so well. It’s as though I’m there, that I can see the things you describe.”
She continued, ranting and raving about the story and what she had read so far. She was truly in shock, she had no idea that the man could write so well. Mandy smiled and stopped talking realizing she was spilling her thoughts out into a big puddle. She looked up and smiled at Sam, a slight red tint covering her cheeks.
“It’s so wonderful I can help but be excited about it,” she told him waiting this time for a response.
Sam chuckled lightly at her apology “You don’t need to apologize, Mandy” Sam said with a smile as he lightly patted her foot a couple of times.
He sat watching the weather and the news as she read his story, smiling to himself at the forecast of the storm lasting a little longer than they first thought. Not that he wanted to be stuck in this cabin or want Mandy to be forced to stay, but he was beginning to thoroughly enjoy her company. Having someone there with him who wasn’t constantly interrupting his writing was much better than being alone. The fact that she was sweet and quite beautiful only made it that much better.
He sensed that she had finished the chapters and was looking at him. He turned his head and looked at her as she said she loved it. “You really like it? Honestly? You won’t ummm offend me if you don’t” he said with a smile as he unconsciously laid his hand on her knee. The electricity he felt even through the blanket made him stammer slightly.
”It’s very good Sam, I can’t wait for more” Mandy said softly as her hand moved to his making Sam’s heart skip a beat.
“I’m … umm … I … they said on the weather that the storm is going to last a little longer than they first thought. So, I … umm … I hope you don’t mind my company” he said, shocked at his nervousness from her touch, his eyes glancing down at their hands still together on her knee.
“I need a drink, you want something?” he said and started to move his hand. Mandy squeezed it slightly making Sam look at her again. Again his heart skipped a beat from the look in her eyes. He smiled at her with a knowing, agreeing look and stood. He walked into the kitchen without another word and grabbed two glasses and put some ice in them “I hope Jack works, I don’t have much else” he said as he grabbed the bottle and carried it all back to the couch.
Mandy shifted a little so she was sitting side ways on the couch, resting against the arm as Sam sat next to her and poured them each a glass, handing her one. “To new friendships” he said as he held his glass up. Mandy clinked her glass against his, repeating the toast and they both took a sip before Sam sat back against the couch, turning slightly to look at her. Friendships and maybe more Sam thought to himself as he watched Mandy sip on her drink.
To new friendships Mandy smiled as she took her sip. Jack just happened to be her favorite drink. She smiled at that little thought. Her hands held the glass, cradling it as though it gave her some comfort. She sipped slowly at it, feeling the warmth of the drink slipping down her throat. She knew she felt drawn to the man she was with but she just didn’t know what to do with those feelings. She looked up and caught Sam looking at her and she smiled before again averting her eyes.
She felt like such a girl, a young high school with a crush and feeling awkward about those feelings. Her mind filled with various things to talk about yet she couldn’t form words. She had never been so nervous before. Mandy was a grown woman and new how to handle guys, well at least she thought she did. This was proving to be the exception. Perhaps it was because she actually liked the man. Who really knew? Then she remembered the last thing he mentioned before getting their drinks.
I’m … umm … I … they said on the weather that the storm is going to last a little longer than they first thought. So, I … umm … I hope you don’t mind my company
“You know Sam; I really don’t mind being stuck here with you. It’s actually very nice to be able to spend time with someone. Even though we only meet I feel as though I can talk to you. It’s a nice feeling. It’s one I can’t say I’ve felt in too long.”
She watched Sam as he looked at her; it was like he was weighing her words. She didn’t mind she was trying to be honest without over thinking it too much. That was usually her way. The over analyzing girl, that description fit her like a t. She waited wondering if he would say anything or if they would just fall into a sudden silence. As the room was quiet Mandy nearly jumped when she heard an animal howling.
“What was that?” she said though clenched teeth. She was obviously frightened. Anything bigger then her with teeth and claws worried her while she was out in the wild.
Sam weighed her words with a bit of astonishment. Part of him wondered what she meant by not feeling this in a long time, but he also knew what she meant. It had been a long time since he’d felt this comfortable with a woman too. Part of him also wondered why such a beautiful young woman would enjoy his company. Granted at this moment, she didn’t have a lot of choice because they were stuck in the cabin for at least a couple more days.
He was trying to find the words to tell her what he was thinking and feeling when she jumped at the sound of something howling outside. Sam knew the animal, probably a wolf, had to be fairly close. With the wind blowing like it was they wouldn’t have been able to hear it if it weren’t.
”What was that?” he heard Mandy ask, obviously frightened, her fingernails digging into Sam’s arm as she pulled herself closer to him. Sam chuckled a little “Probably a wolf trying to find the rest of his pack in the storm. It’s okay sweetheart, we’re inside, he won’t hurt us. Actually, he’s probably more scared of you than you are of him.” Sam said reassuringly as he gently put his other arm around her shoulder, pulling her trembling body closer to him.
“Well, maybe not more frightened.” He said teasingly, the pain from her nails slightly showing in his voice. He flexed his arm, drawing her attention to it and away from the second howl from the animal.
She quickly released his arm from the death grip she had on it “I’m sorry Sam, I didn’t realize I ….” she said as she rubbed his arm where her nails had been digging in. She looked at him as her voice trailed off.
“So, Mandy, you said something about this being a feeling you hadn’t felt in way to long. I know exactly what you mean. I’ve been divorced for a couple of years, but it had been a couple before that when we were comfortable even being in the same house, let alone the same room.” Sam said trying to beat down the feeling building in him. The feel of her close to him, the smell of her, everything about her pushing his desire higher and higher.
Their eyes met and Sam couldn’t help but let his feeling show in his eyes. He wanted to lean in and claim her lips with his “I … umm …” he stammered and started to move to stand up to move away from her, not wanting to make it an uncomfortable situation. Mandy’s only response was to grab his arm again and pull him back to her tighter.
Mandy couldn’t help but grab his arm. She didn’t want him to move. The nearness of him was comforting but she also saw that same need in his eyes for just a moment before he hid it. Her hand tightening slightly as she pulled him back down next to her. She didn’t know what was going to happen but she felt so at ease with him. The couch gave as he sat back down and she moved a little closer to him.
“You were trying to say something Sam. Don’t tell me you weren’t. I may have been knocked out and left in the cold but I can tell that there is something here. I felt it the moment I woke up. With us being here together for who knows how long we should at least talk about it.”
She looked up into his eyes. Her feelings were plainly visible to him. Mandy had no idea what would become of them. What would happen after there time here in the mountains? She didn’t want to think about that now. All that currently mattered to her was the feeling, the needs that had been running through since she woke up in this mans cabin. The fact that he saved her, that he had opened up to her all played a part in it. She wasn’t sure if it was because of that, she didn’t care.
“Whatever happens is going to. I know that Sam as well as you do. We are two grown adults, two people that have found something in the other…”
Mandy couldn’t help herself as she moved forward and lightly brushed her lips against his. She had no idea what had come over her. If it was the moment, the animals noises she had heard, a combination of it all. She wanted this, right this moment to be here with him. He made her fell like she mattered, that she was important not just another someone.
Her lips moved, slightly opening. Mandy’s tongue ran over his lips, asking for entrance as he opened them. He tasted wonderful, so warm and inviting. She wanted to bask in that for as long as she could. Wanted the warm of him to seep into her and stay. Her hands ran through the back of his hair, taking the kiss deeper. Feeling Sam’s tongue invade her mouth sent a sigh from her. The kiss seemed to last forever and she was glad to loose herself in it.
Sam returned Mandys kiss, his hands going to her cheeks, holding her lips to his as he shifted his weight to face her more. They gently moved around the back of her neck. As he leaned back against the arm of the couch, his hands drifted down her back, pulling her to him.
They broke their kiss and looked into each others eyes. “I felt it to Mandy, the moment I brought you in from the snow. I just didn’t want to do anything to make this awkward. We’re stuck here for a while and an uncomfortable situation would only be intensified.” He said as he watched his hand run through her hair and rest on her cheek as she looked into his eyes.
He leaned in and kissed her again without saying another word. His hands slowly moved down her back over the curve of her ass, cupping a cheek in each hand, moaning softly to the feel of her body. As his hands slowly moved up, they slipped inside the hem of her sweater, feeling the heat of her skin through the t-shirt she had underneath.
She broke their kiss and looked into his eyes, biting her lip she sat up slightly and pulled the sweater off. Sam’s hands moved around, lightly rubbing her tummy as his eyes roamed her body. She shifted her weight allowing him to swing his legs onto the couch under her as she straddled his hips.
He closed his eyes softly as her hands rested on her chest before she leaned in again, kissing his neck, his arms wrapping around her again. She started to unbutton his shirt. Her lips followed her hands part way down his chest. She kissed her way back up to his lips as she finished unbuttoning his shirt.
He moaned softly as his mind reregistered the taste of her, the smell of her. He wanted her, wanted this … whatever this might be.
They sat up together, his hands untucking the t-shirt from her jeans as she pushed his shirt from his shoulders. He slowly lifted her shirt. He had seen her in her bra already, but this was different. That was being the caring stranger, this was being the passionate lover. Their eyes met as her hands pulled the shirt off the rest of the way.
Sam leaned forward, gently kissing her cleavage, inhaling her scent deeply, as his hands softly moved over the soft skin of her back
Words were no longer spoken, there were sounds, sighs soft expressions of what they both needed at this time. Sam's hands were strong and smooth, touching her with a desire that mirrored her own. She hadn't known a passion like this in so long, if ever. Mandy knew that this was taking a giant step. She didn't know what would come of them beyond this time spent in the cabin. It didn't matter to her, tomorrow maybe it would but she wouldn't think about it.
Her hands lifted removing her shirt and she instantly felt Sam's touch. The heat from his hands moving over her body, she couldn't help but arch into it. Mandy was starving for his touch. Her lips found his again as he touched her. Her hands undoing the rest of the buttons on his shirt and slowly removing it. She couldn't wait to feel her body against his. Her fingertips ran the length of his stomach as her tongue tasted him. Finally her hands reached his pants, they stilled as their kissed seemed to stop.
"Sam, I want this. I want you," she whispered undoing the button of his jeans.
Mandy didn't realize she was holding her breathe until she released it along with the zipper. Her hands she noticed shook slightly. Her nerves were getting to her. She couldn't believe it. She was how old and here she was getting nervous about getting naked with a man. This wasn't her first time but damn, it felt that way. She took a breath and then it hit her. This man was going to be different, somehow and someway it would be.
Her hands continued on Sam's pants. Her eyes moving back up his body, looking into his. She saw what she needed there, the same things that she was feeling reflected there. Her body if it was possible burned even hotter for him. She took her hands and unhooked her bra, freeing her perky breasts to his gaze. Her nipples hardening under his gaze. She could only watch and wait with baited breathe for him to make a move. She wanted his touch, his mouth against her. Teasing her, making her cry out with need, it was all she could think about as she waited.
Sam moaned softly as Mandy’s hands reached his pants. Her whisper about wanting this made him look at her, look into those beautiful blue eyes as his hands cupped her face gently “Me too Mandy, but only if you’re sure” he said softly.
She looked down at her hands and he smiled when she released her breath as her fingers slid his zipper down, reassuring him that she was sure. He watched her as her hands and eyes slowly moved back up his body. Their eyes met again, their shared passion clear to the other. He didn’t know what it was but there was something other than simply her beauty that made him want her, want this.
The thought of what would happen after they got out of the cabin briefly flashed in his mind but he pushed it out thinking there would be time to worry about that later.
He quickly realized she was reaching for the clasp of her bra and his eyes were immediately drawn to her breasts. His breath caught for a moment as she dropped the bra from her body revealing her magnificent breasts to him. He watched as her nipples hardened before his eyes, his hands went to them, gently cupping them the toying with her nipples as her hands covered his.
Sam sat up as Mandy slowly leaned down, their lips meeting in a deep passionate kiss. Their kiss broke and Sam kissed down her chest slowly as his hands drifted down her firm tummy to the waist of her jeans, unfastening the button. His lips claimed one of her nipples, sucking on it gently.
He slid the zipper of her jeans down before his hands moved around her waist, playing with the soft band of her thong and deeper into her jeans, down her butt cheeks, squeezing them playfully. He looked up at her “Let’s move to the rug” he said softly referring to the big soft rug in front of the fireplace.
Mandy stood and Sam followed, taking hr hand. She turned to walk to the rug, but he pulled her to him, picking her up and carrying her the few steps to it as their eyes never left the others. He set her down on her feet and leaned in kissing her again as he pushed her jeans to the floor as she did the same with his.
