On Friday, it was revealed that the co-founder and CEO of the popular fact-checking site Snopes David Mikkelson has been writing articles using plagiarized content under a pseudonym for years.

A Buzzfeed News investigation found that Mikkelson wrote and published over 50 articles containing plagiarized material between 2015 and 2019.
"After inquiries from BuzzFeed News, Snopes conducted an internal review and confirmed that under a pseudonym, the Snopes byline, and his own name, Mikkelson wrote and published 54 articles with plagiarized material," wrote Buzzfeed.

As a result from Buzzfeed's findings, Mikkelson has been suspended from editorial duties "a comprehensive internal investigation." According to Buzzfeed, Mikkelson remains an officer and a 50 percent shareholder of the company.

This is the same thing WikiLeaks does. And a good information seeker will provide the source.thst has the info rather than the snopes or WikiLeaks page that aggregates.

That being said, I still believe the argument about the source being biased is a lazy argument. If you're going to address something about the source, then.the authors are a better argument.

I'm guilty of it myself, but would prefer to discuss lack of corroboration from experienced sources as an argument instead of "it's fox news so it's bad..." Or "it's CNN so it's fake news..."

His ex-wife was Canadian, so presumably she literally couldn't be a Democrat. And they did debunk likes about Republicans, too (off the top of my head, the rumors that George W.M.D. Bush waved at Stevie Wonder and said "There's no French word for 'entrepreneur', and that famous photo of him holding a children's book upside down). You just don't hear as much about those because Democrats are a lot less likely to repeat lies once they're shown to be lies.
