PLEASE NOTE

I have now installed a modern and efficient browser and firewall. This has reduced my access to this board to read-only. Naturally that is of little or no concern to the owners of the board, who cannot be expected to adjust their board to handle every browser/firewall combination which users may throw at them.

In consequence, my access to this board is now READ ONLY. Anyone contacting me (eg by PM) will therefore need to supply an email address if they want a reply.

TO answer the obvious question, I have posted this from a friend's computer.

Hard to believe...

Modern and efficient technology has many options and configurations. I am sure you can configure your software to allow Lit post access.

lit works with all browsers, they can not be expected to work with all platforms which are not up to speed with the standards of the internet. Get firefox and everything will work out fine.

I have Firefox - I even have full 1.0 Firefox dated 7th Nov 2004, having had this problem with 1.0PR. I also run Agnitum Outpost Pro firewall, and F-Secure AV, both updated daily as required. Somewhere in the interaction of those three I get messages saying I am forbidden to access the Lit servers if I try to write to them.

Again, I am on a borrowed machine.

ANyone wanting editing has to email me on dawiro@onetel.com with "editing" in the subject line.

Hooray for me!

Some updates appeared in my protective software and lo - a miracle - I am back on Lit!

Do I hear boos in the background?

If anyone is interested ...

... I finally traced the problem.

I am twenty miles from the Capital of my country, so I am too far away to have broadband. I use a service called OnSpeed which compresses stuff down the link and runs me at 4 times the speed of dial-up for most things.

For reasons I don't understand it is that service which fights parts of Lit, giving me read-only access. If I switch the proxy off in Mozilla it works fine, but slowly.
