I do that shit myself now and it doesn't hurt like hell. Are you letting it grow in enough before you wax? It needs to be at least a quarter inch. A lot of people don't wait long enough between sessions and that's what makes it hurt like hell.

In any case, I have a question .....

I have been shaving my penis and scrotum for several years now with little issue except the occasional nick because I wasn't careful, or I was a little bit erect which (at least for me) puts me at risk for cuts.

But, only recently did I think about shaping my pubic hair. I thought this would be easy, but it left me with a lot of red bumps!!!! It has taken weeks for them to go away and all the hair has grown back.

Has anyone had this problem? Do you have specific advice you have tried that worked for you?

Yeah, I have a hunch this poll, like most, is rather self-selecting. Me, I'm fortunate: I like pubes. Period. Hairy, naked, in between—I just love them.

Probably an unusual combination, but I'm smooth whilst my girlfriend is naturally hairy.

I shave my beard, chest, pubes, armpits and sometimes my legs.

She only shaves her armpits every few weeks, and hair growth on her legs is quite sparse. She has a full bush on her pussy though, she doesn't even do any trimming at all.

I have the same problem if I shave too high. I can safely shave about an inch above my cock. Above that, I use very fine clippers to trim. Shaved smooth feels sexy but the ingrown hairs and the persistent bumps are anything but.

I find that an electric razor, dry, with some powder applied first to allow for a smooth glide and no dragging gives me the best results. It leaves me smooth, but not shaved so smooth as a wet razor, which does lead to bumps, etc, for me.

Anyhoo… that’s how I keep myself. I do it because I prefer how it looks and feels. I’ve not gotten complaints, but I made the decision for myself. Not to appease a partner.

I’d expect a partner to do the same. Whatever feels good and comfortable for them. If I got a vote, I like a close-ish trim. Less distractions and face tickles. But if I’m into someone enough to find out their public hair status, I’m already too interested to let the hair change my mind.

I should say I shave myself smooth at least twice a week and use a manscaper to keep the long hairs at bay. Three reasons:

• I like the look
• It increases my sensitivity when having sex
• I find the act of shaving itself to be erotic
• It feels awesome when I'm doing it!
