Federal Judge Aileen Cannon on Tuesday denied Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith’s request to impose a gag order against former President Donald Trump in his federal classified documents case.

She said that Smith's request was “wholly lacking in substance and professional courtesy.”

Cannon warned Smith that "failure to comply" with the requirements she has outlined for "non-emergency motions" could result in sanctions.

Trump is already under a gag order in another criminal trial, the ongoing one in a Manhattan courtroom in which he faces 34 counts related to allegedly trying in 2016 to falsify business documents for a hush money payment to porn start Stormy Daniels for alleged sexual encounter about 11 years earlier, to prevent the matter from interfering with his ultimately successful bid to become president.

Cannon has presided over four criminal cases since she was appointed four years ago, including this one. There are a stack of other issues to be determined on this case before it gets anywhere near trial. At this glacial pace it will be the 2028 election before this goes anywhere

I suspect that Smith's target is Cannon herself, but even if successful it will take forever to get her off the case.

That "judge" should be removed from the case due to incompetence and lack of impartiality.



The corrupt orange traitor made the inflammatory bullshit "attempted assassination" claim about the FBI raid on MAL on a Tuesday, and Jack Smith’s team filed the motion on Friday, giving the corrupt orange traitor’s defense team the entire extended weekend to study the motion and respond.

The motion clearly had substance, as the corrupt orange traitor was putting a target on the FBI and those prosecuting The Documents case with that inflammatory bullshit "attempted assassination" claim.

I think it's fairly obvious that Cannon is ensuring that the defendant has the benefit of the doubt as is required by due process and the Constitution. Smith doesn't like that he hasn't been able to steamroller over her and has gone whining to the appellate courts over almost every decision Cannon has made and where he's found favorable justices for his cause.

I believe Cannon has figured him out and is letting him hang himself slowly. She's also waiting on the opinion about Presidential immunity as well as the idea that Smith may not be legitimately appointed. If he isn't, she can slap him down hard with near impunity even if Presidential Immunity doesn't protect Trump in this case. If he is legitimately appointed (as deemed/issue ignored by the SCOTUS), she can just continue on as she has been.
