Psychologists say the our sense of smell is the strongest trigger we have for memory recall and arousal......
there are some smells the drive me crazy like a woman wearing Opium or Paloma Piccasso that is an instant hard on for me.

the smell of chlorine bleach is another.... My Grandfather used Chlorine to sterilize his milking equipment..... it always take me back to visit those times with him

The smell of fried chicken reminds me of my Grandmother

Leather reminds me of the tack room at the barn

fresh mown grass reminds me of working hay in the summers.

What smells turn you on?
what smells kill the mood
and what smells take you back to those comfy places where we all long to be

Whenever I smell graham crackers, it reminds me of being back in kindergarten again. I just love that scent because it was a great time in my life and I can remember so much of it.

When I smell fresh ground coffee it reminds me of Sunday mornings having breakfast together with my family when I was a little girl. My father always had fresh brewed coffee waiting for my mother. He used to fill a coffee cup with a little for me and add lots of cream and sugar.

I love the aroma of Irish Spring Soap because it reminds me of someone from a long time ago. Sometimes I buy it and keep it in my dresser drawer so that when I open it I can smell him.

Jean Natae......... that is another one that reminds me of someone "special"

A new box of Crayola crayons....

Playdoh! Ahhh childhood...the freedom, the creativity.

A freshly shaved and shower man, no cologne....yummy!

Polo cologne for men. An ex used to wear it. Makes me gag now.

Cow shit. For me its not an unpleasant smell. It brings back memories of my childhood on a farm.

Fresh christmas trees...mmmmmm

Memories

Apples. My grandparents used to have a bin in their basement that they would fill with apples every harvest. During the winter, grandma would bake indescribably delicious pies, crisp, tarts, and sauce from those apples. Their aroma filled the house which was a warm refuge on many a wintry day.

yes the smell of chlorine and manure..... such and odd coupling but the combination is so strong and really takes me back to those warm safe days on the farm......... as does the smell of diesel exaust and grease.......... I miss my Grandparents

Thank you, Mensa for reminding me.

Orchard apples simmering in the pot for applesauce. My mother used to can applesauce every year and for days, the house smelled of apples.

Heavenly, yes it is. I grew up right near an apple orchard and my grandmother used to make fresh applesause. When we came home from wherever we happened to be, you could smell it as we rounded the corner of our street.

Oh, such fond memories. Great thread OldAllis.

My grandmother used to dry apples during the summer then make pies and cakes from them. The smell of apples cooking takes me back to those days.

The smell of baby powder and Johnson's baby bath. Babies really grow up too fast.

The smell of roasted hot dogs and beer reminds me of camping trips with my family when i was very little. Bittersweet since they ended way too soon.
