Smartmatic files 2.7.billion lawsuit vs. Fox, Trump, Ghoulianni and co.

It won't stop Trump from lying. If all else fails, he'll just declare bankruptcy - for the seventh time - to avoid paying up.

Well, well, well....this may do more to curb the Retrumptard's enthusiasm for lies since it is exactly defamation and must have hurt this company (can anyone say damages) big time.

Who wants to place their bets on who is going to jail first for non-payment when the judge orders compensation paid to Smartmatic

This is the problem with routinely lying and just making shit up. You get used to it. It comes natural to you. You get sloppy. Sure you can get away with denying climate change or claiming Obama is a Muslim. NASA or Obama isn't going to sue you six ways til Sunday. You fuck with multi-million dollar corporations with access to the most blood thirsty attorneys money can buy and you bought yourself a heap of trouble. I really don't think that FOX and Newsmax realize that, "Some people say..." shit may work on their feeble brained audience but is not going to pass muster in any court of law.

The kind of attorneys he needs don't work for free. From what I can he's going to need lots of attorneys in the next few years.

Sue the fuck out of him
Who will keep him afloat?
His daughter is not on the board of directors of a bank anymore
Burn the Trump cartel to the ground

Scotland is questioning his golf course purchases there!

How and why would Putin keep funding him now?
Oh!! The deplorables can keep him going!!

And just like that....they eat themselves.

Lou Dobbs, named in the lawsuit...well FOX also named in the lawsuit, just canceled their number 1 ranked show with Dobbs. Gone. Just that fast. Amazing what happens when they know there is no evidence.

Can one of you legal beagles explain to me in the simplest terms why other legal beagles think that this lawsuit has merit?

The company has its products installed in single country within US.

It's founder is a Venezuelan, and one of his breakthrough deals was to sell voting equipment to, yes, Hugo Chavez, in a deal that attracted high praise exactly for its reliability. They do have intentional market, including a proposal with Singapore, with is now in jeopardy, because that's a business with is based heavily on trust, and...

...according to certain Fox anchors and bunch of other Trump's crazies it orchestrated subversion of election results in entire US... from offices in Germany, somehow involving ghost of Hugo Chavez, a military satellite, probably the Pope, and, I don't know how Israeli space lasers fit in, but who knows. Did I mention their business in US in limited with a single country?

So, it seems easy.

Defamation is essentially telling falsehoods and lies with the intent to do damage(cause harm or loss).

It's a text book case this is why Fox is so concerned...they should have thought of that prior.

Can't help but say many of us said so about these actors...that they were lying and spreading falsehoods.

One of the rare times I agree with Ishmael.

I'm glad they did too. They are now subject to the rules of discovery. Nothing but good times ahead.

This is all so delicious. Fox is shitting its pants!

Smartmatic's lawyer, J. Erik Connolly, told CNN Business that the case is one of the most "straightforward" he has ever seen.

Connolly, who secured one of the largest defamation settlements ever in the "pink slime" case against ABC News, told CNN Business that because Smartmatic's role in the 2020 general election was limited to providing services to Los Angeles County, he could easily prove all the conspiracy theories false.

"By being able to say Smartmatic was in Los Angeles County and nowhere else, I've been able to prove a lie of everything they essentially said with one salient fact," Connolly told CNN. "I've been doing this for a long time and that might be one of the easiest ways to demonstrate falsity that I've ever had."

Smartmatic said in the lawsuit that the conspiracy theories had undermined its business relationships around the world, resulted in a wave of threats against its staff, and contributed to a $767.4 million drop in its parent company's projected profits over the next five years.

Additionally, the lawsuit said, Smartmatic will need to spend $350,000 annually over the next two years in increased security costs to protect the physical safety of its workers and nearly $5 million in fees over the next five years to safeguard the company from a "meteoric rise" in cyberattacks.

Smartmatic's parent company estimated that the "disinformation concocted and spread by the defendants" had cost it at least $2.7 billion in total damages, $2.4 billion of which is specific to Smartmatic, according to the suit.

I really hope the lawsuit is successful or every us election will be the same as 2020. You can't have the president spewing conspiracy theories non stop and un checked. An example needs to be made of them.

Smartmatic filed Monday, complaining giuliani's excuses for not producing material he's been ordered to is tantamount to 'the dog ate my homework'

“‘The dog ate my homework.’ ‘I have to wash my hair.’ ‘I can’t go out, I’m sick.’ Since the dawn of time, people have made up excuses to avoid doing things they do not want to do. This is exactly what Giuliani has done here,” Smartmatic’s filing said
