Smallville was Just the Beginning... (Open Casting Call)

Now there's Metropolis...

RPG Name: Metropolis the RPG

An rpg based around the hit show Smallville. However I wanted to continue the adventures into the next step which is adulthood. This sim will take place seven years after Clark turned 21 (season 7) and left Smallville to complete his training by Jor-El in the Fortress of Solitude. He is now 28 years old and has been working at the Daily Planet for a few months but still hasn't had his first big story yet. He's been reintroduced to some old friends, however he's not sure how they feel about him coming back into their lives after disappearing for so long.

This will be the OOC list and if we get enough key players I'll start up a regular list and get things started. If your interested post which character you want to play here. I've been a GM for several years as part of home groups, and even online RPGs through PBEMs, but this will be my first attempt at doing one on a board so bare with me lol.

POWERS AND ABILITIES

Fighting Skills: Other than high school sports and basic self defense, Clark's fighting skills remain largely undeveloped.
Other Skills: Journalism, Mathematics, Astronomy, and playing football and basketball.

Metahuman Physical Abilities: Superman's cellular structure is more dense, resiliant and biologically more effective than human tissue. He does possess several organs whose functions are not yet disclosed or understood but are believed to be part of and perhaps even the source of his biomatrix force field and reclaimation aura. Superman has manifested a wide range of metahuman abilities and from our studies is considered to be one of the most powerful metahumans on Earth at the present time. The catalog of powers he possesses is vast. He can defy gravity, move at superhuman speeds, has an incredible reaction time and superhuman reflexes to match, lift incredible weights, is almost invulnerable to conventional injury, possesses superhuman sensory and powerful energy projection capabilities. Superman's body also stores energy actively within his bio-cellular matrix as an energy pattern that is linked to his body's electromagnetic field. This energy powers most of Superman's electromagnetic capabilities such as flight and heat vision. It also supplements his physical strength by a factor of 12,000 times or so.

* Super Strength: He can lift incredible weights and objects and not have them collaspe under their own weight, indicating a powerful form of telekinesis that surrounds the object protecting it from outside stresses. The upper limit to his physical strength is not known but with the telekinetic lifting capabilities possessed by Superman, he could conceivably lift objects weighing 100,000 tons or more. It is conceivable that he could lift more if he was completely powered and using all of his stored energies.
* Invulnerability: Superman's invulnerability has also increased with his age. Superman is nearly invulnerable to weapons used by normal humans in warfare and it is believed that, fully powered, he could survive a near-direct nuclear strike with a ten megaton warhead. He can survive in an environment completely devoid of atmosphere and suffer no ill effects, provided that he carries his own air resources He can operate for periods of up to 30 minutes without air. Extremes of heat and cold have no effect on him and he has been see to skirt the photosphere of the sun (10,000,000 degrees F) with no long term side effects, probably due to a feedback loop of solar energy powering his biomatrix field.
* Super Speed: Superman is capable of enhanced reflex action and the ability to move at incredible speeds by sheer force of will. He is not quite as fast as the Flash and cannot achieve lightspeed under his own power, but can reach a high speed percentage of lightspeed in normal space. Superman can match most other speedsters in their ability to perform superfast movements, reactions, and processes. He can use this power to disarm opponents without heightened reflexes, catch bullets or shrapnel or cross vast distances in seconds. He has been seen flying from the Moon to the Earth in under 2 minutes. That is the equivalent of 2000 miles per second or 1% the speed of light.
* X-Ray Vision: He can see through any solid object except for lead. It may appear as a bluish skeletal image similar to the ones seen on hospital x-rays, or it may be a full color image. Clark appears to have mastered the skeletal images over full color.
* Heat Vision: This power first manifested when he was 15, and was initially connected to his sex drive. Clark can also project force with his heat vision. His heat vision has the ability to reach temperatures of 11,000 degrees F, sufficient to melt steel in seconds.
* Super Hearing: When he was temporarily blinded, this ability manifested to compensate. He can also hear in a range equal to that of the best natural or man-made sensors. His hearing is so acute and precise he can detect a whisper at 500 yards. He may also extend his hearing into the infra and ultrasonic range.
* Super Breath: At age 19, Clark was vulnerable in the Phantom Zone and returned to Earth with super-strong sneezes. When he got better, he honed the sneezes as super-breath.
* Flight: Brainwashed as Kal-El at age 17, Clark could fly, but at 19, he has yet to learn this ability. However, he can jump very high and make flying leaps. It wasn't until he was 21 that he began to fly under his own power. Superman is capable of Mach speeds in excess of Mach 10 in atmosphere. He has been seen to fly to the moon in minutes so we can assume that he can fly faster than that outside of atmospheric interference. His control of his flight is perfect and he can perform aerobatic feats such as hovering, flying backwards and even lifting great weights while flying.

Metahuman Mental Abilities: Clark also has precognitive dreams, and hears a high-pitched whining sound when Kryptonian technology is near enough to call to him.
Special Limitations: Clark is vulnerable to Kryptonite, radioactive remnants of his home planet, Krypton. The known variations of Kryptonite affect him in different ways. Fortunately, Clark can protect himself from Kryptonite radiation using lead, and removal of the substance reverses the effects.
* Green Kryptonite renders Clark physically weak and painfully ill. He once stated that green kryptonite exposure hurt more than cracked ribs.
* Red Kryptonite makes Clark lose his inhibitions and social conscience. The effects strengthen over long periods of exposure. Under the influence of Red K, Clark usually refers to himself as "Kal", short for his birthname, Kal-El.
* Black Kryptonite can separate or combine Clark from his Kryptonian personality, Kal-El.
* Silver Kryptonite makes Clark dangerouslyparanoid and suspicious. Silver Kryptonite seems to take a toll on his body after a time.

Strangely enough, he does not seem to possess superhuman strength levels despite his enhanced cellular ability. Without constant exposure to solar energy, his strength seems on par for a human of his height and weight.

Magic: Superman's biomatrix is his most powerful asset, but the strength of this field is also its greatest weakness. It's permeability to certain wavelengths makes Superman vulnerable to certain radiations, particularly magical energies whose chaotic electromagnetic or extradimensional signatures disrupt this forcefield. Superman's vulnerability to magic varies on the special effects of the magic. No magic seems to be able to directly destroy him unless it comes from a semi-divine or divine source. He can be injured and worn down by magical entities. Magic can have powerful and unpredictable effects on Superman and his magical enemies have often proven to be the most dangerous.

High Energy Attacks or Radiation: High energy radiations of a particular wavelength can also cause injury by overloading the field at a single point, hence the reason he can be harmed by high energy weapons such as blasters, lasers and plasma weapons. Kinetic kill weapons with sufficient force can also overload the field at that point.

Source of Metahuman Powers: Superman seems to have two primary sources of energy. The first is that Superman's cellular structure is suffused with specialized cells, organelles and organs whose function seems to be the storage of the radiant energy in multiple formats. It is unknown if this is a part of the normal Kryptonian physiology or was added due to their scientific advancements in biomodifications. One of these formats is a superdense cellular protein that can be broken down and turned back into biological energy. This metaprotein is what powers Superman's long-term endurance and is restored slowly.

The second is Superman's bio-aura that acts as effective an energy containment device as ever seen in nature. This field is constantly reclaiming stray electromagnetic energies from the environment and converting them into this cellular protein (for the remainder of this report it shall be called Meta-ATP). The energy for the meta-energy protein in Superman's body is captured by his biological electromagnetic reclaimation aura. This invisible (to the naked eye) structure acts as a radiant energy collector that creates an energy-retentive skintight force field capable of absorbing and converting cosmic radiation (solar, radiant and electromagnetic energies). One aspect of the energy gathered by this field is that there is almost no electromagnetic waste. This biomatrix recycles almost all of its radiation-harnessed energies. Otherwise, Superman would glow with a distinctive signature, easily detected by others, whenever he uses his powers.

PARAPHENALIA

Costume Specifications: Superman wears a costume that honors his Kryptonian heritage. The suit is made of Earthly materials, and as such can be damaged or destroyed relatively easily normally. However because the special aura that gives Clark his invulnerability extends a few centimeters from his skin, the suit takes on a measure of his invulnerability. The Cape is also made of normal Earth material, and because it isn't in direct contact with his skin will suffer damage like any normal Earth cloth. Some believe that the S on the uniform stands for Superman, It in fact is the English translation for the Kryptonian Symbol for the House of El.
Personal Weaponry: Unrevealed.
Special/Unique Weaponry: Unrevealed.
Other Accessories: Varies with mission parameters.
Transportation: Conventional means or self.

HISTORY

Clark was born Kal-El, the son of Jor-El and Lara, on the planet Krypton. When their planet and all inhabitants were about to be destroyed due to Zod's attempted conquest of the planet, Jor-El placed him in The Ship, to send him to a good family on the planet Earth where he visited years ago. Though Lara wondered if the people of Earth would accept and love him, Jor-El reassured her that the family he chose would be good to him.

Kal-El came to Earth during the Meteor Shower which struck the community of Smallville, Kansas on October 16, 1989. He was sent from Krypton as an infant, but because of the distance from Earth, Kal-El appeared to be between ages two and three when he was found by Jonathan and Martha Kent, as Jor-El planned. Unable to have children themselves, the Kents adopted the young orphan, named him "Clark" (Martha's maiden name), and raised him as their son. Clark knew he was adopted, but did not learn of his true origins until age 14 when he confronted Jonathan about his invulnerability and demanded answers. Since the death of his father, Clark has since dropped out of Central Kansas A&M and currently manages the Kent Farm single-handedly.

Shortly after his 21st birthday, Clark left Smallville to begin his training in the Fortress of Solitude. Upon completing his training, 3 years, later Clark entered Metropolis Universty an set out to complete his education with a degree in Journalism. During his free time at Met U. . When he graduated at the age of 27, Clark went on a year long trip traveling around the world, from time to time helping where he could. When he returned to the United States at the age of 28, he began to work at the Daily Planet. A job that would give him the best indication on where he was needed. There he was reunited with some friends of the past, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.

Can we be someone not of the main Smallville cast?

#1 Anyone that is supposed to work at the Daily Planet
#2 Since I've just started the thread so far just Clark / Superman, which will be played by me. I might play Lex as well, but if someone comes a long that thinks they can pull him off I'll give him up.
#3 Any DC Character can come in, as long as they're given a Smallville twist. Which basicly that very little if any of the cannon history would be used.

Hope that answers your questions, if you have more feel free to ask.

Just wanted to add, that since we don't know how Season 7 of the show is going to end, there are things that may happen in the show we may want to add to some of the Character's history. If it doesn't interfere with what we establish here I'm all for it. But no matter how things go, as far as I'm concerned Season 7 of Smallville ends with Clark leaving Smallville for the Fortress to begin his training.

Kara Kent / Supergirl

Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 133 lbs.
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue

Powers and Abilities:

Kara Zor-El exhibits all the traditional powers of a true Kryptonian, including super strength, speed, breath, hearing, invulnerability, x-ray vision, heat vision and flight. Despite her time spent in stasis, Kara quickly learned to master all her abilities with relative ease. Though there was that one time she did blow a watermelon up while she was just learning to use her heat vision.

Clark wasn't too happy with her lack of control, but she figured he was more upset about getting splattered with watermelon juice.

Personality:

Kara is a bit brash and not well fully integrated into Earth society. She loves her cousin but has trouble acknowledging that he is now the older one and she the younger. She has grown better at acting more 'normal' around Humans, but her Kryptonian heritage is sure to come out now and then. She is open-minded, assertive, outspoken, stubborn, has a strong sense of responsibility and duty, and is interested in understanding and helping people.

History:

Kara, a teenager when Krypton exploded, was sent to Earth by her father, Zor-El, to look after her younger cousin. But while in suspended animation, she didn't age. Kara's ship fell into the Smallville Reservoir adjacent to Reeves Dam, where she remained in suspended animation for 18 years. She remained in suspended animation until released by her cousins fight with Bizarro.

Upon waking, Kara began an immediate search for the young boy, Kal-El. During her search, she carelessly demonstrated her abilities, but was luckily observed by her cousin. She was initially stunned to find out that he was now physically older then she, but over the years she has grown somewhat used to the idea.

While Clark was in training, Kara began living in Metropolis under the alias of Linda Lee Danvers. Some may know her as Kara Kent, and only a select few know of her true heritage. She enrolled at Met. U but eventually dropped out. She currently helps work/manage a dance club that has been fondly dubbed 'The Talon' in Metropolis.

Hmmmm a new Talon, I like it

:D

Yeah I was trying to decide what Kara could be doing during the time gap, and I figured I'd pay a little tribute to the old Talon by having a new one. Though this one is a club and not a coffee shop. Same sentimental value, though. :)

I think I'm actually going to post the first post. Kinda anxious to get started, even if we don't have the others just yet.

I went and added a brief listing of open characters I'd like to see in the thread. But if anyone wants to add someone not listed all they need to do is ask.

Well we have a Batman, just need him to post his bio and maybe a pic of his look and or actor. :)

Jessi Allen / The Flash

http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l325/chasnicollette/jesse.jpg

Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 140 lbs.
Hair: Dark Reddish-Brown (Jessi); Blonde (The Flash)
Eyes: Brown (Jessi); Golden (The Flash)

Powers and Abilities:

The Flash has the ability to move at impossible speeds, far in excess of the speed of sound (sometimes, amazingly, even approaching the speed of light itself). Her hardy metabolism allows her to run for hours without slowing, provides resilience against the withering forces and the pounding impacts of such speeds (and, handily, against the pounding impacts of villains seeking to smack her down), and enables her to regenerate quickly from injury. An "aura" provided by her link to the extradimensional Speed Force defends her against the heat of friction and enables her to communicate with other speedsters moving at similar speeds to hers, despite their moving at hypersonic velocities. Her reflexes, senses, and thought processes have all been accelerated proportionately to her top footspeed.

Her natural hair colour is very dark, but it's been found that when she triggers her super-speed, her connection to The Speed Force infuses her with power such that her hair becomes the same molten golden as The Speed Force's lightning-esque energies.

Personality:

Jessi Allen is a dichotomous individual. To say the least.

There are some who have constructed "roles" for themselves, altered mannerisms and conversational styles to differentiate between their activities when masked or unmasked.

Jessi is one of those whose constructed role has taken on a life of its own. Fortunately for her, she gets along quite well with her two selves, and rarely does the symbiosis break down into squabbling.

When she's going about the day-to-day of things, she's fidgety and nervous and tends to talk to herself. She doesn't get along well with humans, and even her cat Querl finds her tendency to stay shut up in her rundown apartment a little bewildering.

When she's The Flash, she's brash and outgoing, with a seeming compulsion to toss out random zingers and flirt with anything that moves. While she's hardly fearless while in costume, hardly the utter Girl Scout type of hero, she does have hidden reserves of courage that are only just now beginning to make themselves known.

History:

Jessi is the twin sister of Bart Allen, otherwise known as Impulse.

The same "flash of light" that gave Bart his superhuman speed in the first place also swallowed Jessi in that same instant, though it wasn't until much later that Jessi's speed would manifest. For one thing, while Bart's speed is essentially active twenty-four and seven, Jessi has to consciously activate the ability, and she didn't realise that she could do so for years after Bart had run away from home and spent quite a few years as a lone wolf scavenger.

She's extremely proud of Bart's service with Oliver Queen's Justice League, but wonders if he'll ever slow down enough to realise that his family still loves him, and will love him far into the future.

Despite her education at Keystone-Central University, Jessi has a hard time holding a job given her burgeoning superhero career, but has recently been able to tentatively secure the very same basement-level position that the late Chloe Sullivan held years before when first joining the staff of The Daily Planet.

Out of sheer coincidence, Jessi rents an apartment from Mrs. Nelson. She's one of those quiet tenants who keeps to herself.

Unfortunately for Jessi, though, she lacks Clark's hands-on ability to make repairs and such and her place remains a mess.

For the most part, The Flash operates well outside Metropolis, taking advantage of speed and distance to further reduce the chances of her identity being deduced, and has not yet made an appearance in The Big Apricot in "uniform."

Thanks for the invite, LuckyVic...

Now to choose a character......

Hmmm.....

A certain green-tinted, broad-shouldered Martian comes to mind....

If there are no objections?

Chas, you're hott, not going to lie. I like the pic. As soon as I get a decent enough computer, I'll put up my bio.

Bruce Wayne/Batman

Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 175 lbs.
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown

Powers and Abilities:
No special powers like most superheroes. Rather Bruce Wayne is skilled in several forms of martial arts such as Tai-Kwon-Do and Aikido. He has been trained with just about every weapon known, and has the toys and tools to play with also. Batman carries a utility belt on him that carries most of his equipment. Usually, he does not carry a weapon on him though.

Personality:
Bruce Wayne is fun partying young bachelor. He is usually percieved as less intellegent. His alter-ego Batman however, is the opposite. The Dark Knight usually doesn't speak much, and when he does, he always has the last word. He is very intellegent, and usually carries his voice in a low serious manner.

History:
Bruce Wayne's parents were gunned down in front of a theater when he was seven. The killer was supposedly caught and tried, but rumors of a different killer have been going around. Shortly after his parents died, Bruce left Gotham and was taught under Henri Ducard to become an ultimate warrior. Shortly after his return to Gotham, he took charge of his company Wayne Enterpraises, and began his life as the Dark Knight.

Bruce had one love interest, but she had left him upon the discovery of his secret identity. Since then Bruce had tried to eliminate all presence of Batman from the eyes of people around him, so that he does not scare someone off again.

His interests were set only on cars, fancy expensive, old sports cars, and american muscle. But after following the advice of his Gentleman Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce took up the hobbies of Polo, Base Jumping, Spelunking, and Deep Sea Diving. Most of these interests were originally to cover up his late nights, strange marks, and to hide his more serious side.

Martian Manhunter

Alter Ego: J'onn J'onzz, John Jones, various
Marital Status: Widowed
Known Relatives: M'yri'ah and K'hym (wife and daughter - deceased)
Height: 6' 7"
Weight: 300 lbs
Hair: None
Eyes: Black-Red

When you first meet the Manhunter you may not even realise that its him. He could be your taxi driver, the nun you passed on the street or even your boss. There may be little giveaways that the most observant spectator could guess (i.e. Batman), such as unconscious use of Martian body language. However when you encounter him in his day-to-day Martian form you will recognise him instantly. He stands a head taller than most humans, his brow extends above his face and his skin is a vibrant green. He is a silent and imposing figure who exudes an aura of mystery. He voice is that of red sand blowing across a desolate Martian vista, utterly alien, yet strangely comforting.

Nobody truly knows how old J'onn J'onzz is or how long into the past Dr Erdel's machine reached to drag him to our world. These and many other facts about him are his knowledge alone and few dare ask him. For much of his time on Earth J'onn has been a mystery to many - even himself. Despite his reserved and silent nature the Manhunter cares deeply for his adopted world and would lay his life down in an instance for it.

Abilities
J'onn is a brilliant leader and tactician, but also has advanced physical and shapeshifting abilities resulting from complete command of his anatomy, grants him superstrength, speed, density control and invisibility. Also a powerful telepath with knowledge of many advanced Martian techniques. Can project an energy beam from his eyes called Martian Vision. The bond between mind and body is so strong for a Martian that their racial fear of fire can prove fatal beyond any normal physical injury associate with it.

In this incarnation of the Martian Manhunter, he will usually be seen as an ordinary-looking Metropolis PD police officer named John Jones.
