This thread, and its IC, are an alternative* story to Supergirl's origins where, instead of Kal-El being sent to Earth, Kara Zor-El goes instead (basically all the roles involving the House of El are switched. I.e. Jor-El wasn't the head scientist, his brother was. When Zor-El couldn't convince his people to save themselves, he decided to send his only daughter to Earth. You get the picture).

Intro:

Kara was but a mere child while rocketing through space, chunks of her home planet following her ship as they shuttled towards a distant world. Life in Smallville was about to change. As the people went about their daily routines, their little world would be shaken as the meteor fragments rained down on their town, causing destruction and mayhem everywhere.

Driving home in their new truck, Jonathon and Martha Kent veered off the road in order to avoid a collision with one of the falling rocks. As they struggled to catch their breath, having panicked from the sudden events, their eyes watched as one of the mysterious meteors created an extensive but destructive path in the ground. Getting out of the truck, the Kent's ran over to the part where the meteor had finally stopped. Amidst the smoking ruins, they discovered something far more startling... a ship.

Kara is then raised by the Kent family under the name Claire, and she grows up to become a beautiful and exceptionally talented young woman. She is close friends with Pete Ross after she came to his defense against bullies earlier on in their childhood, and the two became almost inseparable. Claire also befriended Chloe Sullivan at some point during the 8th grade, and for as long as she can remember Claire has had a crush on Whitney Fordman (meow).

For a good while now Kara / Claire has been 'saving' people whenever they are in danger, and she has had a hard time keeping her secret a secret, often lying to her closest friends for fear that they might come into harms way.

Where the thread begins:

Claire and her friends are now seniors at Smallville High, and classes have just started.

Name: Kara Zor-El
Alias: Claire Kent

Kara was born to her father Zor-El and her mother Alura in the city of Argos on Krypton. Krypton, however, was about to be destroyed when their sun turned super nova. After failing to convince the ruling council on Krypton to save its people, Zor-El decided to send both his wife and newborn daughter to a distant planet for safety. When Alura stated she had no intention of leaving her husbands side, however, they sent Kara rocketing alone towards Earth in a space ship... the Last Daughter of Krypton.

The journey from Krypton to Earth took about three Earth years to complete. Though her ship was programmed to instruct her on her heritage and purpose on this new planet, most of that became non-operational after crash landing in a corn field located in a town called Smallville, and subsequently Kara remembers none of it. Kara, along with the ship she landed in, were discovered by Jonathon and Martha Kent, two very loving and respectable parents in the Smallville community. Instead of turning her in, Jonathan and Martha Kent took the young alien into their home and raised her as their own daughter.

By the time Charles was born his parents had divorced. Most of his childhood was spent being shipped back and forth between mother and father. He didn't feel like he had a home.

So, instead he grew up reading books, watching movies and surfing the internet for anything and everything interesting. He grew to have a deep love for writing and journalism. He felt a need for "the truth to be known."

He also began reading random alien stories such as Roswell and Area 51. Charles felt these "truthes" needed to be known as well.

By the time Charles entered high school he was an expert computer hacker. His writing helped him to become a reporter for the local school paper.

He doesn't have a lot of friends, but he hangs out with Kara sometimes. He has a secret crush that will probably never see the light of day.

Powers: Computer programming, journalistic privileges, science, paranormal conspiracy theories.

Zach is the eldest of the three children in the Yates family headed by their father Stephen, whose wife passed away from a form of brain cancer shortly after the birth of their third child. Since that time, Stephen worked diligently in order to be a reliable sole provider for the family. However this meant he was rarely at home, especially with his job as head surgeon keeping him away at odd hours. This absence left Zach to fend for himself most of the time as well as take care of his two younger siblings, Hanna and Lee.

Now freshmen in High School, Zach's brother and sister are old enough to look after themselves, finally allowing Zach, now a senior, some more time to himself. Most of this time has been spent playing guitar in a band with a few of his friends. While they hope to stay together even after graduation, already the band has had one scare nearly losing Zach during a performance. During one practice session amidst a storm, the poor wiring of the building the band played in allowed for a lightning strike upon the building to travel through to Zach's guitar, giving him what would normally be a lethal shock.

After only a day in the hospital, he was released, with the doctors not quite sure what absorbed most of the shock. They, as well as Zach himself, were unaware that he had absorbed it thanks to the assistance of a green stone he had located one day biking around the fields, which he subsequently had adorned to his guitar.

Since then, he's noticed some changes, but being a cautious person, he has yet to show anyone else...

Powers: Electrokinesis and Electromagnetism.
Weakness: Having just discovered his ability, he lacks a certain understanding as well as control over it. Also depending on how much he exerts his ability, he'll weaken considerably for some time after.

Harley's father is one of the leading psychologists of the state, a book-thumping advocate for the importance of education. However, the man's adoration for his work has left his daughter feeling neglected, wanting nothing more than to achieve the Doctor's attention and praise. In an effort to gain this, she tries to keep herself as the picture of the perfect student; straight A's are the expectation, as well as involvement in the high school cheerleading squad and membership in the school drama club.

Though Dad may be all about the books, Harleen has a love for humor- but it has to be kept a secret from her father. "Childish jokes and play have no place in this house," he's chided her over and over, much to his daughter's chagrin. She has a 'thing' for class clowns, but also has a very jealous streak.

Her issues with her father are creating a second side to the usually cheery girl; a side that craves attention. Even if it comes from getting into trouble, Harley seems to enjoy causing a disruption... Chaos in simple forms.

Maybe simple just isn't enough....
