Recently I find myself slowly drifting out of Lit, i.e. I'm spending less time on here, posting less, creating less threads and most of all taliing to less people on here.

I don't know if this is my fault or just the general developement and I still haven't figured out whether this is a good thing or a worse.

But did any of you have similar expeieriences on here? Is it just a 'phase' or is this the beginning of the end ?

It's a phase snoop.
We all go through it.
Its a levelling out process.

If there are no threads that really grab your attention, stands to reason you won't spend so much time in here.

The best thing is, though, you know it and we will still be here when you decided to drift back in and take a look.

Who knows what you'll find then.

Yes, Snoopy, it's a phase... it's easy to drift away and then come back. You will always be welcome if and when you decide to come back.

Beginning of the end.

I've been expecting it awhile but didn't see that this is the form that it would take.

About 4 or maybe 5 times a year, someone pops up to say "why isn't there more to do with writing" or "why is there so much politics" or "I'm fed up with all the bitching" or "I hate the cliqueiness" or "Why does everyone have to be so silly"

It's just the ebb and flow and comes and goes with regularity.

Actually (as someone famous probably said) it's just the end of the beginning. Now you know how the land lies and you're deciding if you can change it, if it's worth it or if you've outgrown it.

When it was my turn to ask about 18 months ago I did it in a confrontational manner and hoped that I'd made everyone else question it instead of me. But it stayed mostly the same.

Ennui. Boredom. Entropy. Nothing is new forever. You have to adjust. Sometimes the adjustment is to walk away. Sometimes it's to become comfortable where you are.

Your choice.

I like you and I'd miss you should you leave, but you gotta do what you gotta do and I'm not man enough to stand in your way.

I've just done my I need to get the fuck out of here!!!!!! scream. I refused to turn on the PC while I was away, and didn't miss it a bit. I was having too much fun. Try it sometime.

I've been home an hour, and feel so refreshed, I almost didn't come back.

Damn personal life gets in the way of a good time sometimes and affects our moods. I'm so glad I had a break.

Take your time hon. Get away, and come back a new person.

Snoop,

Everyone finds a happy medium with lit. At first you are probably a lurker, then you jump in and for a while it's all fun, then you kinda settle in to what makes you happy. The whole point is to meet folks and have fun. You will find the "right" amount of time for you. Don't sweat it.

Well ... look at it this way. You've established yourself now here and don't need to comment on everything anymore or whatever. Now go out and get your real life up and running (as I suppose from some of your comments its not the way you want it to be) and than come back and tell us about it ...

I've been drifting away too. On the plus side, I've been spending time working on my next erotic novel.

That is a plus, right? ;)

There is the AH.

There is the writing - and I haven't finished my first Halloween story yet and NaNoWriMo is coming.

There is real life.

You have to balance them and sometimes the balance is wrong.

NaNoWriMo will bring back concentration on writerly issues. So does the Halloween competition. After both there is the Christmas/New year competition.

October to December is for WRITING.

We have had the silly season when we didn't have any immediate targets to meet. Now they are pressing upon us, especially those who have signed up for NaNo (Mad buggers, all of us!).

Individuals may find the AH doesn't suit their current mood. It changes and so do moods.

Give it a break. Go and WRITE!

I've been in and out of Lit. For a period it's great fun, then you get bored and need a break. Sometimes it's the life outside of Lit that interferes.

I just came back here after quite a long break. Dunno how long. I just know that I might checked out some posts occasionally, but not really participate actively for a long time. Now it seems like I'm back as an active member, but it might have to do with my mood changing. I've become creative again and felt like writing etc.

Do what you have to, may it be taking a break or sticking around.

Take a break snoop's why not, it isn't compulsory to come here, even though it is adictive... I come and go, been away on another site for a few days myself recently, might or might not spend a week here this time.

Nothing much of interest to me here at the moment, so probably won't stay the full week.

We'll miss you, and welcome you back.

Snoop,

There's a time and place for everything.

(I read that once. Good book--something of an anthology.)

As others have said, this is a "phase." In your case, it may be one of those rare instances where you're being normal. :)

Good luck, whatever you decide is best.

Take time away if that feels right. Come back when you feel like it. The good thing about the AH is that it will always be here, and most-likely, at least one or two people who know and remember you! ;)

snoop it has happened to me a couple of times..then something comes along and drags me back in :) go with the flow my love. thats the best advice i can give.
