I've been having some concerns lately about the time I take to recover after cumming. I find I need up to a day to be able to reliably keep an erection; before then I have trouble getting hard, and the erection doesn't stay for long enough to use.
I've discussed this with my girlfriend and she's not upset - I do enjoy giving oral as well! - but I find it somwhat annoying and I'm interested to find out if other guys here have experience of this issue, and what I can do about it.

Any recommendations are welcome :)

How old are you?

Is this a new or sudden thing, or has it been building gradually over time?

Can you say Viagra? Seriously, if you really are 20, you need to see a doctor. If you are over 50, that might be considered normal, but not at 20.

There are a lot issues that can cause this from medication, alcohol use, the use of illicit drugs, spinal nerve issue, circulation problems, or it could a muscle issue. Alternatively for some guys loose their erection when they put on a condom or feel pressure to perform, at least to me this is most likely a psychological issue. If you have an underlying heart problem, underlying circulatory problem, or other medical issues by taking Viagra without medical supervision you could be putting your life at risk. Best advice is to speak with your doctor in order to find out what is causing the problem.

If you're in your twenties, I'm also voting for a doctor's visit to discuss your long refractory period. It may just be the way you're wired if you've (almost) always experienced the same thing, but it doesn't sound like that's the case here. Given the number and severity of many of the conditions others have mentioned, you absolutely need to be checked out thoroughly.

Hello all, and thank you for your responses!

Sorry for not clarifying my situation earlier. Yes, I'm twenty. :) I'm in a fairly average state of health - my cardio and general fitness are probably a little worse right now than what they should be, but I'm rarely ill and don't take any medication or any drugs (other than alcohol; I've never taken Viagra, either).

I've had this issue for at least two years, including in periods when I've maintained a rather better state of fitness, but it's become more noticeable now I'm back in a sexual relationship. As far as I can tell condoms (or the lack thereof!) don't seem to make a difference.
I don't think it's a psychological issue, though I may be wrong. In general I feel very comfortable with my girlfriend - much more so than with exes - and I wouldn't say she puts me under any pressure to perform.

I may well book an appointment with the GP to find out more...
