Has anyone else heard of this book? My co-worker, who is morbidly fascinated, told me about it. I just reacently, finally, got to see "The Others" and in it they used one of these photo collections of people being propped up and displayed, post mortem, in order to snap a shot of them. I've been told that there are some pretty disturbing photos in the collection of dead babies, which will not be easy for me to view, but otherwise I am oddly facsinated with what I have seen of it, and I am drawn to want study these photos, maybe in hopes to understand the psychology of the people who practiced this way of documenting the life of an era of people.
Anyway, I am sickly searching the net about it, and finding little. I came across this one page, and am still looking.

I can't afford to buy the book, nor do I want to own it, and it is out of the library. I guess I'd just like to read up on the practice more than what is offered here. I'd like to see more examples of what they'd do. I was told that they would sometimes paint eyeballs on the outer eyelid. This must have been pretty odd looking. I'd like to see that.
Also, Am I sick for wanting to research this?
