I've been recommended Skype, an interent telephony program that also lets you make calls to the phone network, if you pay a subsciption. The internet part is free.

Anyone had experience with it? Do you use any voice-over-ip systems to make free calls?

i had it on my old computer and it wouldn't work.

However, most people that have gotten it have never had any sort of complaints, and that computer was about the age of dirt anyway. The download is fairly small and the system itself VERY easy to use. A friend that lives nearby has it and uses it constantly while online.

Generally, more good ratings than my little experience.

Never heard of Skype. We have Vonnage here in the states, outstanding system. $40 mo for unlimited long distance.

If you're gonna pay a subscription anyway Joe you might want to look at Talktalk.

Ordinary phone line and basic service is free calls to other service users. Subscription is free calls to anyone, 15 quid a month on top, gets you unlimited 1 gig broadband.

Tell them I sent you and they send me money too.

I've used Skype, but only to talk to someone online at the same time, in other words for free. Talking to New Zealand it was like they were in the next room.

I have Skype installed. All I needed was a microphone and my boxes. Crystal clear, good quality and no cost at all. I only use it for internet calls because that part is free of charge. LOL

You might want to get a headset if you want some privacy while talking.
