Thank you so much for your assistance.

MAC Software question

My ipad says iOS 9 is ready to download....
What Macbook operating system do I need to support iOS 9?
Do I have to go to Yosemite 10.10?

Is there some video on the internet about how to use the timemachine? I'm finding it is tempermental.

You can find several Skype tutorials on the Skype site and on youtube.

and.. why would you want to download an operating system to run an operating system?
you might want to head to apple support. If there is an Apple store or a MicroCenter near you, the store employees can walk you through general usage.

The older OS doesn't support the new OS on other devices sometimes...it's like you need HHH on your computer to use a certain software...

Thanks! I'll try the skype site...

In the past you had to progress through some iOS upgrades to reach the latest one - you couldn't leap past versions.

I think that all stopped once the App Store was integrated.

sybarite_1, regarding your MacBook - if it has App Store installed you should be able to do all your iOS updates through that.

Oh - type the following three words into Google

Yosemite timemachine youtube (or replace with what ever version you have)

system upgrades can be triggered automatically. You shouldn't need the store.

The iOS shouldn't impact your macbook. It does not run on a mobile operating system. That's why you run apps for things on your phone or iPad that you utilize programs for on your laptop. Unless your laptop is more than a few years old, you shouldn't need to make too many changes to it.

I reasoned out the skype for ipad instructions...found the info on the internet finally! To block and delete someone, you have to look under their profile details. Seems an odd place to put it...but hey. Got the bugger blocked so I'm good. ;)

My Macbook is running Lion but many programs now calling for Yosemite 10,10

I put the little bugger on the time machine for backup so it's preoccupied right now.

Now I have to look into getting Yosemite.

Next, I want to find out how to put all my pictures from my Macbook into an external harddrive.
Any photographers able to do this?
I'm going to India and will probably bring back 1200 pictures as per ususal for an overseas trip.
Any help or directed to an internet post or site would be helpful.
You're all great...Thanks!

What iOS are you currently running. iOS is an operating system. The number, 8, 9, 10 are the release version.

So what your iPad is telling you is that is ready to upgrade your current Operating System. So, I would think you are running iOS 8.

But you think about whether you want to upgrade and will it cost anything.
