Hello all,

I am about halfway through a story that I think is going well, but I realize that I may be playing with fire regarding site rules. I wonder if I might run the idea past some of you more experienced writers to get some opinions/ideas.

The story centers around 2 camp counselors tasked with keeping a couple of barely underaged campers from sneaking off into the bushes and doing things we can't write about here. The underage campers do not do anything in the story - in fact they barely appear in anything other than the setup narrative. The story is about the 2 counselors on "hormone patrol" and how keeping the 16-year olds apart gives them all sorts of ideas, some of which they act upon.

What do you think - too close to the danger zone? Like I said, the underage characters DO NOT do anything, but the story revolves aroud the fact that steps need to be taken to ensure nothing happens.

I would appreciate some guidance. I wrote this stuff exclusively for this site, largely as an exercise in completing projects (I have a freakin TON of half-finished stories....) and if it won't fly here I might as well quit on it.

Thanks!

My first few attempts...

LIT is awful touchy about the age thing. You may have to change a few things to make it acceptable.

Hmm,

You can have under age people in your story. Lit acknowledges that people exist under 18.

You can not mention and or include them in any sexual behavior before the age of 18. Nor can they be present while sexual behavior is happening.

This would include, but not limited to a 17 year old dressing sexy.

So to answer your question they have to be 18 to participate in a sexual proposed situation. To mention their intent as underage persons is not sex, but it is describing them in potential sexual behavior. The story will 99% be rejected, 1% Laurel is sleeping and missed it. :(

You can make it a one time mention as they are 18. How the reader takes the rest of the story is depending on how it is written. I don't do the screening so It is really still up for interpitation. But the rules remain "No one under 18 can be involved in sex of any sorts."

Just my opinion

my bet is that if the counsellors are clearly trying to keep the kids apart so no underage sex happens, it'll get by. Especially if you add a twist that when the counsellors return to camp, the discover the kids returned hours before, and provide confirmation the kids are still virginal.
