I'm away from home for a couple weeks on business and I'm stuck in my hotel. I've been here in SoCal for 3-1/2 days so far and I'm already having skin hunger. <sigh>

It's going to be a long 2 weeks.

What do you mean by "skin hunger"? If you mean you are hungry for the sight of (female) skin, there is plenty of it available in southern California, much of it of very high quality.

I'm referring to being touch-deprived. There's no-one to even hold hands with (can't do that at work for some odd reason; people get a little wigged :)). It's frustrating. Bleah.

*sings in a gratingly bad imitation* "When I think about her I touch myself. Woh-oh-oh."

:D

God, I'm glad you clarified this, JTA. I thought you were a cannable.

Nahh, I knew what he meant.

Sending long distance hugs, John.

I suppose your own skin doesn't do it for you any more

For much of my life the only reason people touched me was to hurt me.

I enjoy being touched in other manners, but for the reason above I can do without them.

That almost made me cry. I want to give you a hug , but this damned internet won't let me.

I guess I'm weird.

I'm not a touchy-feely person at all, and someone draped over me as we watch tv, or grabbing my hand just makes me recoil. A simple hug is great, but I can't even sleep if someone's foot is touching mine.

"Skin hunger". I like that term. It can be used in so many different ways!

Not weird, I'm the same way. I always give an excuse that they're too hot against my hotness as I move away.

That's my excuse, too. :)

I don't want to hurt someone's feelings, or make them think that it's them when I'm quite aware that it's me.

Touching is the thing that I miss most about being in a relationship :(

Seriously, you got enough money to get yourself a nice massage or shiatsu while you're there? There's a real chemical basis to our hunger for touch, and that can actually help. Even a hairdresser can be a good choice - just a shampoo and a trim can really make a difference. It'll raise your dopamines and endorphins and suchlike, which will lessen any depression.

Studied a lot on those particular chemicals...
