Site Suggestions/enhancements?

Is there a place for discussing enhancements for the main site that we as users would like to see?

Examples..

A marker/warning at the top of a story that it's an abandoned series.. so that you don't get into a story line from search and then reach the end to discover you've reached a cliff hanger that's never gonna end.

Have the favorite this story/favorite this author links available on all pages so you can mark it as such the moment you decide you like it enough and don't have to remember to do so at the end of that story.

I'm happy with Lit as it is. Seeing as how it's free and all. . .

I'm certainly not disagreeing there, as far as my searching goes, this is the best place for erotic stories I can find.

None the less, there are always things that can make it better. I'm not saying I have the best ideas, or even that my ideas should be implemented.. I'm just asking where is the appropriate place for such a discussion to take place.

You could leave feedback on the Literotica site account here.

I don't think that your first suggestion is very feasible, (having to re-read every story on the site, and mark them as 'abandoned' or not?) but your second sounds more simple to implement.

I don't know that anyone needs to re-read every story on the site.. I was considering it more a "report story issue" feature at the end of the story where you can note that a story appears incomplete/abandoned which then would prompt a site owner/manager/assigned grunt to go take a look. Let the users drive the data improvements, it's a free site, users should feel like they *should* contribute in some way to the community whether they are writers, readers or both.

I don't know that this is feasible. I mean, yeah, sometimes a writer never comes back to a series, but then again, sometimes they do. Shit happens, ya know? Sometimes the muse goes dormant for long periods time. Or maybe real life gets in the way and they just don't have as much time to write, but might come back to it at some future point.

Just seems like a lot of extra work for the site owners, IMO. Sure it can be disappointing to be left with a cliff hanger, but given that it's a free site, I don't think there's much room for complaint. Just my 2 cents.

I'd like to see an option for "ignore all posts with nothing but a quoted picture and an inane comment".

Open endings, the sort that go 'tomorrow is another day', would routinely be reported in this system. Sometimes what the reader sees as an 'abandoned story' is in the author's eyes 'a concluded story, but with a life goes on ending'.

I love this site, but I do wish I had full access to my stories, so that I could post, remove, and edit without the middle man.

I don't see how a remove option would be problematic, but can you imagine what readers would have to trudge through if people were allowed to post and edit their pieces without an editor/middleman? It'd turn this great site into a fucking mess of spam and illegible writings that are masquerading as erotica! Also, it's quite likely the site would be shut down as stuff that is illegal was posted.

There are story sites that are very loosely, or completely, unmoderated, if that's your thing. They have some good stories among the shitload of drivel people post.

I just thought it might be nice if this site operated more as a sort of erotica-focused blog site. Wordpress, Blogger, and numerous other blog sites do not have a middle man. They haven't been shut down due to illegal postings and the spam and illegible writings eventually wither on the vine.

It was just a thought. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

No offense taken at all! :) I was just explaining that for every author who'd use the features you suggested responsibly, there'd likely be 10+ people who'd take advantage of the lack of oversight. As an author, it'd be nice to have full control; as a reader, I appreciate knowing that there are some minimum standards in place, because really great stories can be hard enough to find as it is. :cattail:

hey, i'd like one that would allow me to filter out all the pro-incest threads but that's about as likely as the me being happy this football season.

ed, giants fan
