i'm trying to think up some stories featuring the "Seven Deadly Sins" Thankfully, I know what all seven are: Envy, Pride, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Lust and Gluttony.

I also want to write some stories featuring virtuous qualities. It is this that I'm having trouble with. What do people consider the main virtues of humanity? I've got Patience, Generosity, and Compassion so far but are there more? Maybe 7 like the sins?

Please lend a hand and help me out.
thanks

Virtue for real?

Self-sacrifice, I'd think.

But, maybe, people think I'm wuss.

How about: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful. thrifty, brave, clean, reverent?

There is a traditional set of seven virtues: the four cardinal virtues of prudence, temperance, justice, and fortitude; and the three theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity.

Thanks Rainbow Skin! I never would have found the answers any other way so fast. I was even thinking of asking a priest, can you imagine trying to explain that without getting a lecture?

thanks again...here's to hoping the stories look good, or atleast come out, before I submit them for editting

can anyone think of anymore that would sound like the opposite of the seven sins?

eg lust = virginous....greed = generous

Hey, Bolicks, Dennis is ignoring us. What's up with that?

Yeah, what's up with that. I listed the Boy Scout laws

Speaking of boy scouts....Do any of those little kiddie clubs have their own good and bad values?

And no, I am not ignoring you guys. I only get on the net maybe 3 to 5 times a week, and that's if I get done work early enough to use the computers at the local library. I'm not supposed to be on this site at the time but who cares right? Fight the man!! :)

How about the means of corruption. I count five of them:
Deceit, influence, greed, revenge and ignorance.

The opposites should be clear.

Hi, Nushu. Welcome to AH. I suppose the opposite of deceit would be honesty; the opposite of greed would be generosity and the opposite of revenge would be forgiveness. As for ignorance, the opposite would be knowledge but I'm not at all sure that ignorance is a means of corruption. The opposite of influence would be impotence or powerlessness but those are hardly virtues. Influence can be a power for good or for evil. The president's advisors can influence him to nuke Iraq or they can influence him to end world hunger. I'm exaggerating, of course, because no one person can do either, but I just want to illustrate.

hey nushu2,

Maybe I'll use those ideas later. Right now I'm focusing on actually writing the stories. :) I've already finished one but it's just a starter to introduce characters and setup the next story, the first actual story.

What does everyone think of the idea of leaving this idea open for chain stories? I want to get my stories in but if they inspire anyone else in this line they're more than welcome to add one or more stories, if they can follow the content context.

can someone please explain the quoting button for me. thankx

Ignorance can lead to corruption because morals are learned. I once wrote a story in which a boy begins a perverted relationship because he didn't now any better. As he grew up, he learned. The point I was trying to make was that corrupt or not, sin and virtue, right and wrong are aquired knowledge. And that was a humourous story.

In another story, a character became conditioned to and was influenced by other's behaviour. The character knew better but fell into the same behaviour.

Thought of another means, disillusion or hopelessness which leads to disassociation from society and rules. I wonder if I can make a comedy out of that.

Sorta been there, done that but it's an intriguing idea. That's the way I like to tackle a story.

The more I think about it, each sin is a path to corruption and the virtues are like warning signs. Prudence might be the opposite of "influence".

Good luck, post back here when it's submitted. I'm anxious to see it.

If you want an example of pride, Shadow of Venus (interracial) demonstrates how it can turn into prejudice. Sorry about the shameless plug.

as far as I care, plugs are never shameless.

I keep worrying that the stories might be too long. I'm currently writing them out longhand on paper so it's really hard to tell. DAMN I need a computer of my own.

If I do manage to post the character intro chap. I would just have to type it in a word processor program and then copy & paste. Sounds easy enough doesn't it?

second story is already started now.

here's what i'm thinking as basic outlines

1 = intro
2 = wrath and sloth remember past teamwork(nonconsent)
3 = pride and envy brag(kidnap & nonconsent)
4 = greed puts in his 2 cents(pimping doesn't always pay)
5 = gluttony shows he can give too (not too sure bout this one)
6 = lust prooves who has the most fun(gangbang of man's wife)

might change #4 & #5 into one chap when the time comes.
I'm finding it easier to write #2 as a teamwork story right now.
I want to try and do a different kind for each one though.

any ideas for 3 & 5 (if I don't' put 4 & 5 together)?

Just an idea but I can picture gluttony as a fat, horny bastard a la Mike Myers. Good opportunity to lighten the series with humour but I found that anything that they can't piddle their diddle to gets poor reviews.

Rent the origional Bedazzled with Raquel Welch. She is the definition of lust.

sorry I haven't put up what I've got so far.

I'm a little nervous to actually do it, and I need to have access to a comp for enough time to type it up.

Thanks for your patience anyways

Well, I finally managed to get access to a comp long enough to do this. I just hope the damn thing works long enough for me to post this.

Basic questions for help though.
I tend to say who is talking and how everytime. Is this necessary?
Is the thing too long/short? I have half of the next part done already so maybe I should just combine the two when I finally submit them.

Any other suggestions would be welcome, thank you

Title: Acts of Sin

Chapter 1 - The night begins

No-one really paid any attention to the dark back corner of the bar. There was really no reason to think anything was even there, but there was. In the back corner, sexluded from view by the shadows, was a large boothe which offered one of the best views of the bar's many areas. It had originally been the original owner's working office area. Since he had "moved on", the bar's new owners found no problem watching everything from the shadowy nook. Besides, watching from the shadows was what these seven people did best.
Unfortunately for most of the bar's customers these weren't any ordinary people. They were actually seven demons in human form. Seven demons who had devoted much of their existence to their own personal favourite sins, and they each had their own different favourite. Nowhere in existence were there any other demons who devoted themselves to inspiring sin as much as these seven. Alone and together they had each claimed countless depraived souls and had sent many more to their master's fiery domain. Wrath, sloth, pride, envy, greed, gluttony and lust could not have been better represented by any other creature.
"Alot of people out tonight. How many do you think we could get?" Greed asked as they gazed out over the crowd.
"Let's get them all." Gluttony commented.
"We should leave some for the others. Even if they aren't as good as us they should at least get a chance at some souls." Snickered Sloth
"You just don't want to do any work." Growled Wrath.
"I've never really thought of it as work." Remarked Pride. "I have always rather enjoyed my part in the whole scheme of things. Especially since my schemes have never failed"
"We can't all be as good as you huh?" Snickered Envy.
They all laughed at Envy's joke knowing full well thay they were all equals in their skill, if not in their technique.
"Why so quiet Lust?" Sloth asked.
"Just trying to decide which one I want tonight. Or atleast for a few hours." Lust smirked. "So many beautiful people, sometimes I find it hard to choose." The demon added as it shifted from male to female each time it momentarily considered another unsuspecting sinner.
"Devil I hate it how you can't settle on a form and stick with it." Muttered Wrath.
"Especially when you could save your energy for other, more interesting things." Added Sloth.
"we'll never accuse you of wasting power, that's for sure!" Quipped Envy.
"You're in a chipper mood tonight Envy. What's up? Share all the juicy details." Gluttony was almost begging in his eagerness.
"It seems like a larger crowd than usual is all. More people for others to envy." Envy laughed at his own joke.
"Why don't you just go get some geek or other dork already and leave the nice ones for me?" Asked Lust.
"Still looking to increase your record for the most in a night?" Asked Greed.
"I thought you'd realized you'll never beat mine." Bragged Pride.
"I'm surprised any of us can even remember what any of our records are we've been doing this for so long." Remarked Sloth as everyone nodded in agreement.
"I'm just in the mood for something more the the usual lonely, single, virgin geek in the corner starring at everyone wishing he could be more like someone else. I think I want to take someone who just doesn't realize how close they are to being that person in the corner." Envy commented. "I think I might even be willing to take the time to put someone in that corner."
"Just take your time and you'll find the right target." Sloth advised.
"Don't you ever get tired of being so lazy all the time?" Accused Wrath.
"The turtle won the race didn't it?" Answered Sloth.
"Only because you got to the rabbit." Wrath added.
"Besides, if I ever get tired of it I know we still have our agreement to trade. It's been atleast three centuries since any of us last switched."
"I don't think any of will be getting tired of our sins for a long time." Observed Pride. "I don't think I'll ever get tired of pride."
"Sometime I wonder why we only chose to focus on just one sin." Gluttony remarked. "I can't remember why we didn't decide to work more as a team."
"Some us of work better alone." Said Wrath.
"But just think about all the souls we might have lost by not working together though." Greed noted.
"Wrath's right. Sometimes we work better alone." Agreed Pride.
"Speaking of work I think I finally found my target." Smiled Lust as she rose from the table in the body of a woman in her early 20's.
"I thought you would probably decide to hunt as a woman. It's so much easier to inspire lust that way." Sloth remarked.
"I should start looking too." Added Envy as he shifted into a woman's body and left with Lust.
"Come on Glut. Let's check the night's revenues before we start." Invited Greed.
"Always sounds good to me." Smiled Gluttony. "I like knowing how much more I have."
"I've always found myself happy with what I've got. How can you add to perfecting?" Pride asked as he suggestively grabbed at his crotch.
"Just go already before I do something you'll regret." Threatened Wrath inviting Pride to continue his hunt.
"You know I'm right Wrath." Commented Sloth as he watched Pride fade into the crowd. "Sometimes we do work better together than alone."
"Say what you will, I still think we do just fine by ourselves." Wrath mutterred.
"I won't waste my time arguing that. I just don't think you realize how much more productive it is to work together. We've done it a few times, or have you forgotten Bob and Mary?" Sloth asked.
Sloth and Wrath both smiled at their memories of Bob Stark and Mary Fielding.
