Not long ago I dropped by the Feedback Forum and saw a string of comments posted on the chapters of a story written by a friend of mine. Everyone of them was basically the same. "The woman is too old, no one would be interested in her". I think the woman in question was in her mid-40's.

Since then, I've found the same basic comment posted (pretty obviously by the same guy) on at least 3 other different authors' stories. He also left me a comment, wherein he took the time to (rather condescendly) explain to me as a woman why I was deluded by any thoughts that any man would be attreacted to any woman over, I'm guessing, 30. I wasn't offended, rather, I rolled in laughter.

The point I'm attempting to make is that the guy could think of nothing but the age of the female character. Nothing as to the stories, the plots, the sex, whatever, being good , bad or indifferent. Just about the age of the female character. One track comments.

There is/was another guy who's name I can't recall (NOT anonymous as this guy was) who's sole interest in a story was if the woman became pregnant. If she did "Good story, she got knocked up", if not "Story would have been better if she became pregnant".

Any one else think of any feedback/public commentors that seem to be fixed only on a single issue, especially if the "idea fixee" has really nothing to do with the story except on a far out side level?

Apparently the loving wives fans are like that. They're split into two groups: either the man should've been more manly and broken the other guy's nose and made his woman take it like the whore she was, or there should've been more cheating.

You places your bets...

Yes. I have seen it, more than I have experienced it, though. Single minded cells? I am not scientist, but ... well, I will stop while ahead. ;)

Funny. Too old? LOL. After teens (18, 19, not including genres, only types of women) MILF/mature seems the biggest porn category, in which case the latter includes any woman over 20. How disturbing!

True, those two extreme schools of thought are pretty common. It was reading so many of them that lead me to write my essay on forgiveness. At least though those comments do have something to do with the story though, rather than fastening on one minor detail and refusing to let go of it.

20!

Good thing most people think I'm still 16. :D

I never post on adultfanfiction.net, and when I never post there I never read the feedback, either. So I've never seen someone who fixatedly posts in every story that has non-consent or reluctance that "Rape is not sex!" and a link to some anti-rape site every time.

That must never be annoying. :nana:

The guy with the pregnacy complex may be 'Hopeless Romantic.' I got quite a few from him when I first started writing.

Haven't had much bad feedback yet. The only really nasty one was directed at a person who helped me with a story, not at me.

I've gotten just plain weird.

One person thought that the main protagonists in one of my lengthy romances should have started a threesome with the male character's ex-wife.

Another complained that the same story should have '2 be more hardcore'. It's a Romance, fer chrissake.

The best was for Buzz Me. The correspondent took me to task for endangering the female character's career. They made it sound like the modern work world is not too dissimilar from Stalinist Russia. Anything resembling a mistake and 'Bam!', you're denounced.

Ah well. There are billions of people on the web. Simple statistics says a few at least are going to be a bubble off of centre.

I deal with those people every day. Easiest thing to do is ignore them. If the comment doesn't have any value to affect and better your efforts, they are trash. One of the best phrases I have learned regarding this is "Let them die dumb." It is remarkably liberating. (Not to say that my head hurts less because I'm not pounding it against a brick wall.)

There was someone out there posting "It's simple. Use a condom, get a 1." I think his/her opposite number is around as well - at least, I seem to recall someone repeatedly posting to "Loving Wives" complaining that none of the evil wicked cheating wives received appropriate justice in the form of a lethal STD. Nothing like single-issue fanatics to make life interesting. I particulary like the first mentioned because of his adorably self-centered view of the universe. His statement really seems to imply that we will all learn our lesson and mend our ways in order to please him.

I do wish that Hopeless Romantic or whoever the pregnancy fetishist is would read and comment "Will." I could use the laugh.

I know he bugs Bullet all the time, and I have to admit, I was a little bummed out when he didn't comment on Feast Of The Gods, where I wrote a pregnancy.

My favorite feedback recently was a guy who said I got him way hard and he wanted to do me in the ass fast and furious like I liked it.

He didn't leave an email, so there goes his chance.

There are a lot of fetishists reading Lit stories looking for that one little things that will do it for them, whether it's a woman getting pregnant or armpit-licking or a girl in white cotton panties or whatever. They'll judge the entire story on how close you came to satisfying their particular fetish, and they'll often offer helpful suggestions on how you can work their favorite quirk into the story.

"It would have been better if he'd smelled her shoes" is a typical example.

I get a lot of the generic "this would have been better with a man in it" comments.

I also believe, Dr M, that is simply much greater diversity in human sexuality than a lot of people realise. So, if one is talking about some scene or some experiences that are beyond the experiences, or perhaps even imaginings, of the audience, they are apt to dismiss that brand of sexuality.

I refer to Kinsey, the report, and the film about the man. The only thing that is normal about sex is that we are all different.

Hello. Here is Grunya again. I say you friend very lucky Patricia. I show new story to my neighbor Dimitri and he piss all over paper after fist two line. At least you friend gets the construction feedback. She know what she must do to make person like. I just get yellow story that stink. I have no other copy and must put in airation closet to dry. My home stink like a million cats. :(

That's one harsh critic you've got there Grunya.

Must be a new reader on the block, most of my stories have mature (and not 40 year olds with a 20 year old's body either) females with attendant wrinkles, sags and scars. I can't say I've had anyone criticise the age of them, more often the mail is in the form of thanks for giving 'ordinary' people a story.

Damnit, Gauche, didn't you get the memo? Reference to working out and looking half her age is mandatory. If we make an exception for you, we'll have to make exceptions for everyone.

Which is all fine and well for you writers but whenever I mention that someone has the body of a twenty year old the story turns into some kind of Frankenporn, with attendant Igors, bolts and catgut stitches.

Ah, the classic mirror scene. You love using those, don't you Shang?

Comments:

Dear Dar, If you husband wants to see you with another man make sure
he doesn't tape it as the divorce courts love that sort of thing - next
get yourself a new husband instead of the sick wimp you have now as he
doesn't respect you.

This was a response I got today from a response I left on someone else's story. *shrug* I knd of like the idea of my husband watching me screw someone else. The Fantasy is great for our sex life. And too bad anon didn't leave his name and address b/c my "wimp" husband would kick his/her ass. :D

At least there's a commenter. The 1-2 bombs without any feedback are the ones that annoy me. When there's a lame or ridiculous comment, you know who's erred.

A-HA!

That explains it, I always write at or around college ages!

Sincerely,
