Since when (and WHY?) does the SRP need moderators?

Kinda like the club I work in, when you stop checking ID's at the door, you get children. Then their father's on the phone bitching and moaning because you served (and stripped for) his son who's only 18. Then you start getting parking lot fights, and flat tires from busted beer bottles. I'm digressing aren't I? hehe

Actualy I prefer the moderators as long as they dont go on power trips and start screwing around with everyones threads for little reasons or play favorites.

Hi - may I take a moment to introduce myself??

Just in case you don't know me - I am Hecate, moderator of the SRP Board.

I am introducing myself because if you are only hanging out on the SRP BB you may not ever have "come across" me. I do not think anyone would have noticed there are moderators on the SRP BB if it were not for the "advertising" link on top of the page, right?

The reason for having moderators fortunately is not because the board NEEDS them (well, not a lot anyway) but to have them in case the need should occur. Another reason is that the "burden" of answering e-mails, requests etc. is divided upon more shoulders than just Laurel's alone, thus making "service" faster and thus better for everyone.

So I would not relate the "deteriorated" state of the SRP BB to the fact that moderators were made available, the one has nothing to do with the other I would like to think. More than deterioration I would say it is the fact that the SRP BB has become extremely popular, with a lot of people enjoying and playing, threads coming and going, offering a wide range of entertainment... just too much for Laurel to handle on her own. So I would rather see it like:

"WOOOHOOO - the SRP BB has grown big and popular enough to have earned its own moderators!!!

As for my "approach to moderatorhood" I would like to state that I am not having any wish to go on powertrips and jump into every thread to share my knowledge and wisdom - doh, I sure have better things to do with my time.

I won't however deny the personal me either and I will in the future (just as I always did) comment on the things that I like or don't like - as Hecate and NOT as "The Moderator of the SRP BB". I have not hung up my personal opinions on the door by becoming a contact person for requests and the like. So bear with ME - and not "a moderator"

Hey like I've said before: I welcome Moderators as long as they are fair to everyone. And I do think we need them since Trolls have caused some trouble once in awhile at the board.

I have an unrelated question I'll just tack onto this thread. What exactly is the difference between the sexual roleplaying and online roleplaying boards? I sort of get that the ORP board seems to be more geared towards the fantasy genre. Is that it?

Well here's the main difference:

ORP board has to be about fantasy type storys.

SRP board can be about anything from X-Men to people getting it on at a Gym.

ORP board can have SOME sex in it but the storys can't be revolved around the sex.

SRP board can have as much sex in it as they want.

That's basicly it for the most part. If there is something I missed I'm sure someone will fill it in.
