I thought I'd add my own. :D

The pertinent question that has been plaguing Canadians of late, from Newfie land all the way to New Japan is one that may change this country forever. Ask any toothless Sasconian gnawing on seal hide and you'll get the same reply.

'Naw...don't give a flying fuck about politics ey.'

The question of whether they were Liberal, Democrat, Left or right was met with dumb stares. What is this nation coming to? Will Canadians, ignorant of the essential battles taking place in the Grand Hooha igloo, fade away and die?

This is CBC, and no...we don't know either.

There is also this, which caused outrage in school boards everywhere.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is an American. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were American too.

Not really knowing why but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like flashy fireworks.

There is, however, one exception. A girl named Kristen has not gone along with the crowd.

The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I am not an American."

"Then", asks the teacher, "what are you?"

"I’m a proud Canadian," boasts the little girl.

The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She asks Kristen why she is a Canadian. "Well, my mom and dad are Canadians, so I’m a Canadian too."

The teacher is now angry. "That’s no reason," she says loudly. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron. What would you be then?"

A pause, and a smile. "Then," says Kristen, "I’d be an American."

After reading that I was dumbstruck. How horrible. Are there people in the US of A that don't care about politics? Surely not. What is life without politics? What about other countries?

I came to a sad conclusion. Only here are we so sadly ignorant :(

;)

Ignorant? I laugh! I am certain a good number of Canadians are aware how our politics affect our good neighbors. At least economically. Yep...Canadians buying US products direct, just to sell them back to the average US Joe, for a competitively lower price, when he crosses the border for a visit. At least, so I've heard...(tobacco being one). Though, I do support sin tax...there's a choice there.

Is there any place up there I may forward my prescriptions to by the way?
How do my neighbors fill theirs from Canada I wonder.

Money and politics? Now you've lost me. How are they connected?

*psst...just mail em to me sweetie. I'll spend ten hours in the hospital and get prosciptions for anything you can dream of*

Smokes are cheaper in Canada? Got a link?:)

Not only addicted to nicotine but news as well. Once upon a time I did talk radio in two major market cities. For each four hour program I did, I spent another ten hours researching and reading news magazines, this was before the internet and cable news.

I am an old coot, in the event you didn't notice, and the health care debate is important to me and many Seniors. There is already a waiting list of three months in my area to find a Primary Care Physician that will accept Medicare patients.

News, politics, are the things that make my heart go pitty pat, aside from an occasional foray into Romantica writing.

Glad you decided to test the waters....;)

It's connected. Same in neighboring states. Californians going up to Oregon to buy vehicles, then register them back home. Not so much anymore from what I understand, wonder what the difference is on an out of state registration into California is as opposed to a renewal.

Companies are tempted to shift from state to state as well, depending on who has what environmental restrictions, taxes, employer requirements for their human resources, etc. Wish I could be more specific at the moment, but I don't follow business that much.

A link? lol Wish I did. I have friends and neighbors that "shop" in Canada frequently. They are limited of course what they can bring back. But they always come back saying the cost difference helped pay for the trip. Figures!
I'm goin north next road trip, I swear!

And I generally avoid politics, don't follow indepth, swore off with a family member involved in local and state offices past years.

Thank you, Bianca, sorry politics is not ur cuppa...but because of you, I am going to search online for Canadian smokes and see what the savings might be and yes, it is that "Pigouvian" tax I always complain about, 'sin tax' as others call it...

Did you just insult the French? Shame! Mutt mix here with French/Scottish/Welsch/Native American . And I really don't care to have my ass kissed. I tend to humor those who need it.

Aww Ami, I'm just having fun. Politics can be fun sometimes...I giggled when Yahoo did an article on the jeans of Obama's wife...

Hmm...wonder if that's really considered political?

French/Irish here. Sorry, years of bitter anglophone in francophone Quebec speaking.

They kiss your ass real nice though ;)

Yes Cloudy. I admit. I am racist against all Americans.

HEY...that's not how it appeared last night sweetie!

And you thought a pretense political thread might keep ppl away? lol
And look who showed up? I really need to follow these two tho. I may learn something.

Does this mean I have to conjure a news post as well? I'm still sulking about McNabb and coach company.

Shh! Your ruining my racist image! Don't want people thinking I'm open minded! I'm a proud Canadian!

*sigh* I really did. Guess we should get serious now. So what do you think about the golf carts? ;)

The electric? Or the Harley Davidson golf carts? We painted one of those once. Not sure what they needed the speed for in a golf cart. Perhaps the numerous runs back to the clubhouse for drinks when at the far tee, I guess.

Makes sense. With American beer I can imagine you'd need a lot of refills.

Hey I found this in the political stuff...though it might interest some...

100 below - Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. Canadians pull down their ear flaps.

173 below - Ethyl alcohol freezes. Canadians get frustrated when they can't thaw their kegs.

Don't think I could ever date a man into golf. Seems like a very...'Political' sport.
