Does anyone have recommendations for "alternate" Christ tales?

The two that immediately spring to mind for me are Gore Vidal's "Live From Golgotha" and Kazantzakis' "The Last Temptation of Christ".

Both are tough reads, both have great payoffs in terms of time spent reading.

Any others?

Garth Ennis's Preacher comic had some interesting stuff about Jesus in it. Not neccesarily truthful but interesting.
