We have an evening of Popular Music being performed in the square outside my apartment. The band members as usual have their own agenda, particularly the drummers intent on drowning the brass section. The singers either have crappy mics or hold them both too close and too far away, it's bliss; I've really missed this :)

Send 'em over, I like kids, I used to go to school with them ;)

My neighbours like to blast music once in a while, and depending on the house, we are serenaded by death metal to the east, or Mariachi and Norteno to the south-- Alt, and Avant-garde pop directly west and movie or highly amplified nature sounds to the north...

Personally, I prefer the south, but it drives my kids mad.

I try to keep my death metal quiet so that no one else can hear it. I must be one of the most respectful metal heads ever.

Yeh... I realised in the end, I somehow thought it was earlier in the month. It was costumes that gave it away :p Pity Charley missed it.

I took the camcorder. Once I wake up, I'll check if I remembered to bring it back as well. Time to crash, now. :D

I had heard so much about it that I am sad to have missed it, but there is next year! No noise in the current neighbourhood where I am bumming a space to live. However, spent all day yesterday at the Pride festivities where it's probably not unlike S. João, except perhaps there are more naked people. lol. However, as I sit here typing and every single muscle down to my finger tips is either achingly throbbing or continuing to singe from the sun, it's finally dawning on me that Pride festivities are for young people. If I can actually get my legs out of this current position and off this sofa without them trembling and shaking from the pain, then I might attend the parade, today. lol :D

Perhaps, but I have the feeling that for a foreigner - and by this, I mean anyone not from Porto - the first S. João will always be an incomparable experience. The Pride Parade in Toronto may have an attendance of 1.2 million in a city of 5. S. João probably has an attendance of 1.2 million in a city of 500 thousand, and everyone is parading. :D

I am so looking forward to next year, my love, but actually, that's probably more like an EXTRA 1.2 million people in Toronto. :D This only shows what was happening north and south of Gerrard on Yonge Street and not Church at the end of the parade.

If I open the window in my bedroom, all I can hear 24 7 is my neighbor's phone. It has that really annoying phone booth ring.. Brrriiiiiing Brrriiiiiiiiiiiing. these people are either running a call center or they have sixty members of the family who talk on the phone.

Oh that does look like S. João, except it should be night and everyone should be waving plastic hammers and assorted vegetables around with a drunken expression. And you need sardines and red and green peppers being roasted somewhere. Definitely. And churros. :catroar:

Nothing at all as far as I'm concerned. She prefers churros, though, and since there's both... :D
