Simple, no frills, no restrictions email service?

I have a number of email accounts from different services, but they all have some form of issue.

Yahoo Mail was working fine until the last downdate (sure wasn't an update). I could deal with the spam, but they have now made it all but dysfunctional.

Outlook is OK, but they keep the nags going about apps and going premium for pay.

Mail.com is about the same as Outlook.

ProtonMail is encrypted, but has limits for free accounts.

I have a decent service through my webhost, but I don't really use the site all that much any more and don't want to keep paying the annual fee for nothing more than email.

Other suggestions for sites that offer 'free' accounts without too many limitations?

There is always gmail.com.

Also yahoo has another email service ymail.com

Never, never, never G anything. At least not that isn't absolutely necessary.
