So I got a 'sweet' bonus at work, and I learned reason #512 to avoid using your credit card
Reason 512: Because when you get a SWEEEET work bonus, the most reasonable thing to do might be to pay off your credit card debt rather than be young and stupid.
The choices were
a) Pay off the car
b) Pay off the credit card
c) Buy myself a HOPPING, SOUPED UP computer system.
d) Buy myself a nice flat screen TV and a cool stereo system
e) Blow it all in a titty bar (well almost all... buy the honey a nice little piece of *bling*bling*, take her out on a nice date, and THEN blow the rest in a titty bar with her).
f) Get hopping body kit for my ride, and MASSIVE stereo put into it.
g) Pay off the last of my student loans
i) Pad the savings account in case something happened.
It was a long and drawn out battle, but in the end seeing the $0 balance on the credit card won out.
*le sigh*
WORSE... the FUCKING ABSOLUTE WORSE... is I got a raise at work and a voice in the back of my head keeps saying "You don't need that money, why don't you bump up the 401k contribution so that ALL of the raise goes into the account. You just paid of the CC, that's a big load off your back putting some serious disposable cash in your pocket... that you should use to pay off the car quickly though."
So utterly depressing
Sincerely,
ElSol
