How many of us pour our guts out in a story? I know i sure do.
and when I get an e-mail from some AS* HOLE, telling me, 'it sucked' or ' give up writing' it really knocks you down.

Heck, the way readers have been of late, not voting or no e-mails, at all. It makes it hard for me to go on some times.

But, i like my stories so, heck with all you chickens that are afraid to give your e-mail.

Please don't let the emails from a few meanies put you off! :) We all get them! I have had some real mean one's calling me a stupid bitch (that I definitely am not according to my iq test) and anyway who's says they are experts some of them can hardly write! Take no notice :) :) :)

Here Here!

Take it from Thesandman........

We've all been there baby! I don't think there's a single writer here that hasn't received a few anonymous emails telling all of us how stupid we are, or how much someone hates our stories.

Believe me, I've writen several stories that have gotten me a ton of hate mail. But in a lot of ways, I respect that, and have actually used that as a guide to know if I stirred someone's emotions.

I decided a long time ago, that writing about something, whether I personally agree with it or not, or even if I know I would do something or not, is a test of my ability to remain open minded about many subjects. To NOT be judgemental about something that another writer writes about. And to be willing to experiment and improve myself by taking on subjects, or areas of appeal to some (or even the few) and not cater quite so much to the many. Lets face it...there are A LOT of stories out their on Literotica that all run around the same continuous themes.

And don't take this wrong fellow writers...there's still a lot of great stories being written out there. But though the Missionary position is nice....Thesandman does like a little variety once in a while.

So L.A.W. Hang in there and write what you feel like writing about. And don't let the ocassional rude email getcha down.
Hell...unless I'm wrong, even Laurel...Manu have gotten mean nasty ones. As well as all the very BEST writers on here.

And Debbie...anyone calling you "A stupid bitch"...well thems fighting words! Anyone reading your posts has to know you're not stupid. And besides, how can anyone call a Hot Blonde with an IQ stupid anyway?

Now...maybe if ya was ugly.

sick of

This is my latest fan mail,

Comments:

Fuck you! What, you think you\'re gonna win the pulitzer with this shit? I wish you wouldn\'t go on with your crappy ass stories...cry me a fucking river, get bent!

oh well.

I'm sorry, THANKS YOU FELLOW WRITERS

Funnily enough I have just had my first two abusive E mails.I thought it was just me!It worried me so much I mailed another author but he said it was par for the course. The nice feedback is more appreciated.Perhaps I'm just too sensitive to write anymore :0((( And to the person concerned(Surprisingly anon)No I wouldn't like a shotgun inserted in my rectal orifice :0)))

There is a saying floating around here. If you can't handle the criticism, don't put yourself out where you can be criticized. There is no way to make all the people like what you write. It's impossible. Someone isn't going to like it, or someone is going to expect something from the story that the author didn't deliver and that will piss them off. Some of those people vote down, some just back click, and a few will send comments.

It's going to happen, expect it. It happens to everyone.

This isn't meant to be comforting or sympathetic, cause, quite frankly, I get my fair share of "You suck!" kind of email. It's jarring when it comes in and it makes me glad it's by anonymous. I'm too quick to type and send and I never get cooled down enough for reason to prevail before it's typed and sent.

The best method for dealing with Mr. You Suck! is to type up a long scathing retort until you've run out of things to call the man, then delete it and get off the computer for a while. If Mr. You Suck! gets to you more than an hour or two worth of anger and frustration, you may want to rethink posting your stories where Mr. You Suck! can read and respond to them.

You may also want to think that Mr. You Suck! also serves a purpose. He provides a counterbalance to what might otherwise become an enormous ego. Writers with ego problems get into ruts and put out trash. So, you can use Mr. You Suck! to your advantage, ignore him, or react to him. It depends entirely on what kind of person you want to be.

This problem can be solved for you. Go to your profile. Where it says, "Allow anonymous feedback?", check "no". You won't received any more anonymous feedback from that point on.

On the other side of the same coin, I dislike getting complimentary emails from anonymous people. That deprives me of the chance to thank them.

The only nasty mail I've ever gotten is in response to something I said on the bulletin board. So I guess that means I should stick to writing and give up posting. LOL.

I find you know what feedback your stories are going to receive before they are even posted.Mature, loving wives, romance etcetera I get a trickle of replies always complimentary.I just did an incest story for someone who requested a specific story on the bulletin board.I was snowed under with mail that was 99%complimentary.I was astounded by the sheer quantity. Then I did a nonconsent.I stated at the start it was nonconsent and it was in the nonconsent category.Guess what...I had hate mail from "Anonymous".Strangely enough not criticising the actual writing skills(My writing is best described as below average)but criticising the subject matter.Little tip for readers Nonconsent section contains nonconsent stories.

P.S. Off to write an extreme story. On second thoughts perhaps not.

a question

do you all writers write from experience? how much of your writing is autobiograhical?
especially the incest stories writers. some incest stories are good but i can't stomach characters as mother-son, daughter-father, so i just imagine them as straight boy-girl characters. i know that wouldn't make it an incest story but it's better for my enjoyment substituting characters that way...

i also don't vote, usually just back click and move on to the next story. but now reading your comments, I will start dropping you a line or two. there are some good stuff out there!

I've written two types of incest stories. One was completely untrue. No matter what propoganda incest lovers spout, I simply can't see incest where everyone lives happily ever after as happening more often than anyone thinks it does. It is not a common thing. My story with this in it never happened and there is no truth to it. My other incest story is based on reality. The events described never actually happened, but they cover what took years to happen. I wrote it in response to an anonymous email regarding the happy incest fantasy that essentially stated, "You have no idea how much you are tearing up the lives of people and how much you're hurting htem." Some people cannot differentiate reality from fantasy. This second story is the common type of incest that reflects reality.

I also wrote a non-consent. It has no basis in reality either. At literotica, the non-consent category is all fantasy. The people being "raped" really do secretly want it. There are a lot of people, women particularly, out there who want to be raped in fantasy. Not violently, but forced to participate and enjoy sex. I don't get it myself.

Keep in mind that these stories all represent one thing: someone's fantasy. With the exception of perhaps one or two stories, none of them represent anyone's reality. Mr. You Suck! has difficulties in separating fantasy from reality at times.

Once again, L.A.W., chin up, son! You're doing great with your stories so far, from what I've read.

I think I commented on this before, but just to reiterate, I don't practice incest, yet I do find stories about it arousing. I personally hope that no one really does go around screwing their blood relations, but something tells me that I may be throwing a bucket of dishwater into the wind on that point...

Anyway, to get back to the subject at hand, I too get irked when I get annon-feedback, good or bad. I'd just as much rather have a name or an e-mail so I know who to thank, or who to just ignore.

I write stories strictly for entertainment. I love to tell tales, and if I can entertain someone with what I've worked on, then that makes me happy.

So, don't fret, friends... as they say, let the bad stuff roll of your back! It's not worth it to let some crud ruin your day with negatives.

I just went to leave LAW some positive feedback after reading a story(Thought it might cheer you up!) and note you have done away with the anonymous feedback option.Sorry to see that ,as I rated a few of your stories highly as would other readers I think.Just ignore the knockers.Or is that the wrong thing to say on a site such as this.(U.S. readers might not understand a British smutty pun).Totally off subject as this just occured to me,if us Brits call them tits or knockers or even Bristols where did the yanks get the word hooters.I am probably being stupid but could someone tell me please.

thank you all

Hi, thanks for all the good words, chin up, keep it up.
You guys are great.
i had so many good e-mails today, it took me an hour to read them all!!!!!!!

I've been there too!

Hey L.A.W.!
I've been there too, getting a couple of bitchy emails
via anonymous, and one in particular hurt my feelings,
esp. because I thought that particular poem
was one of the best I've written! While I love
to receive feedback, good or bad or in between, I
also want that chance to say thank you to the one
who sent me the feedback. I will check out your stories,
and give you feedback. Sound good? :)

OH I SEE HOW IT IS, BITCH & MOAN HOW YOU GET ANONYMOUS
E-MAIL ABOUT HOW PEOPLE TELL YOU THAT YOU SUCK, THEN COME ALONG A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO PAT YOU ON THE BACK & TELL YOU YOUR STORIES DON'T SUCK, THEY PROBABLY GIVE ALL YOUR STORIES 5s TOO. WHAT THE HELL YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T GO ON, WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT, YOU'VE WRITTEN OVER A DOZEN STORIES & YOU CAN'T GO ON?

I think the more vocal people are those that don't like anonymous feedback. Not everyone feels that way. I certainly don't. I enjoy reading notes from people who find me tasteless or perverted. I get a kick out of it. It means they read my stories!

Deconstructive, supportive, constructive and complementary...

Dear all other writers and Lit-People...
*
I recently posted my first story on Lit - Castles Made of Sand.
*
I was very nervous. I was very curious how people would react. The first reply I got (in its entirety) was this;
*
"It is amazing to enter your world of stupidity and drugs. Wow, what an amazing level of ignorance. -Anonymous"
*
There's heavy drug use in the story. Oh my.
*
*
Shortly after, I recieved others;
*
"This is one of the finest pieces of erotic literature I have ever had the pleasure of reading... -Marly Rice"
*
"Hack writers like you are what's wrong with the world - Anonymous"
*
"Your literary piece of art "Castles Made of Sand" is one of the best short stories I have read, and that doesn't pertain to just erotic literature. I very much enjoyed your writing.
Thank you for the pleasure of reading it. -M. Kawate".

I've gotten e-mail ripping my story and e-mail praising it. I read them all with a grin on my face and a grain of salt under my tongue.
In the midst of ripping people who rip and praising people who praise (which I DO think is valid) these discussion forums need to work towards the improvement of the writers on the site.
The constructive criticism of stories will make all Lit writers better at their craft. I love reading e-mails from people who enjoyed Castles Made of Sand, but I've yet to recieve one that - while polite - points out flaws in style or structure. I love to entertain - but I'd love to improve as well.
As a result, I want to encourage more responses to stories, not just with support, but with comments for improvement as well.

I tend to enjoy the feedback telling me I'm depraved or subnormal - unfortunately I think it probably proves them right!I do however get plenty of mail from females telling me how much they like my stories and would love to change places with the lead female.Damn! They all seem to be anon. as well...buggar

Just tried those links out and neither worked.First time I've tried to do it and at a loss as to what went wrong...any ideas?
