im shy and i hate it. does anyone have any tips on over coming shyness? please help thanks.

What situations are you shy in? Or are you shy all of the time?
You can't do anything about being shy, if you don't know why you feel the way you do.

Please tell us these things so we can really help.
thanks

Post a picture at Lit! Seriously.

Believe it or not, I'm shy, too.

Oddly enough, many actors got into performing to get over shyness -- Apparently because when they are playing a part it isn't them on stage, but their character.

Shyness is often associated with lack of self-esteem or self-confidence. Therefore, I would suggest that you look at those areas for a "cause" of your shyness.

The "cure" for shyness is to not be shy. How a shy person goes about not being shy depends on the person -- It is a highly individualized condition.

A starting point, is to get as good as you can at something you have a talent for or interest in so you can speak confidently and authoritatively on that subject. Once you gain enough confidence to overcome your shyness in that area, it becomes easier to expand the situations where you are not shy.

As a last resort, professional counseling will help. I say "as a last resort" because of the expense. Shyness isn't something that can be overcome with just a few counseling sessions.
