There is a fundamental divide in the US, the (R)'s who like the USA and what it was founded as. A federalized union of states that live under the ideals contained within the US DoI and Constitution. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

And then there are the 'Progressive" democrats who want to shit can every bit of it for the exact opposite..... the nanny state in control of everything and ensuring social/economic equity.
