Should there be a non-erotic poetry top list

I realize there have been enough squabbles over the one top list, but I do occasionally go there just for the enjoyment of reading, and it would be nice to have two lists to chose from. And it would give 150 poems more exposure. I counted the erotic ones, and the board is roughly split between the two 80-70 or so.

I think most poetry readers don't give a damn if a particular poem is tagged as erotic or non-erotic. At least I don't. But if it means more poems are read in a two separate lists system, I say do it!

Oh yes

I think they should have a top list for the non-erotic cathegory. Doubles the chances. (I might even get one on that way)

Sweetsucker:p

That is a 'solid' thought, perhaps they'll listen. A seperate recognition for Audio works as well - would be appropriate.

Take care,

OK everybody.....

Scroll down and hit "Home". Now scroll down and look at the Site Index.

Anybody see the word "Poetry" or "Poems" anywhere on this Home Page? No? Well, I'll be damned!

What the hell good does it do to have the poems split into two categories if we can't announce that this site offers poetry in the first place?

WD, I think it would be a good idea. But first things first. I started a thread about this months ago, sent in a request with an explanation for same and received zip. Many responded to the thread. All in total agreement. But it got us nowhere. Maybe you can throw some of your influence around to do something about this. I gave up a long time ago.

Good luck!

On this site, I think poetry was thrown in as an extra. I'm sure the majority of the readers are here for the stories, and those readers are probably more likely to click on banners in search of more stimulation. And those readers may end up trying out a trial membership, which will make literotica money.
So, I really don't see us getting two lists, or a link on the home page.

the only influence I have is bad influence, Kat ;)

Seems like I remember your thread about poetry on the home page. I don't care about that. We have our own discussion board, and over 5000 poems with more poems and poets added everyday.

I am of course for having two listings for poetry, why not. But I don't consider it to be important. Subdivision into non-erotic and erotic is rather superficial or certainly just one of the many possibilities, and not among the most important options.

I have proposed to create here lists of links of poems which form special selections. Somehow there is not much interest in it. We have only a (colorful :)) list of sonnets, compiled by Judo, and otherwise a list which I have compiled, which does not count for much since I was the proposer and, also, I listed almost exclusively my poems only since I don't know links to other short poems (I saw some "haiku" like poems by authors who don't participate actively on this poetic board; I was not fond of those poems, hence I didn't feel like putting an effort into listing them; anybody is welcome to supply any relevant links).

If we r not interested in creating meaningful selections of poems why should the system guys care?

One marginal remark, just musing. When "non-erotic" poems get listed separately, they will get fewer "views" than if readers were tricked into clicking on them without paying attention to their non-erotic status. Just musing. I don't mind one way or another. I even made up a road sign "ONE WAY or another". U have my permission to post them on the streets in your own city.

Regards,

That's true, WE, but...

How hard would it be to change this:

Stories & Pics - original erotic stories, audio, & images

to:

Original Erotic Stories, Poetry, Audios and Images

I still say it's a shame that Lit might be losing money on people who may be interested in poetry. They land on the home page now and there is no indication that poetry exists here.

BTW, Eve, love your av! Kinda mesmerizing, isn't it? LOL

I know it would take no more than a minute or two to change. Maybe they want to push stories, audios, and images. Those "sell" better than poetry. Most of your profitable adult sites have images. And then some add stories and audios and other things. I rarely see poetry. I don't think many readers are surfing for hot poetry to get them off. lol So maybe lit wants stories, audios, and images to be what sticks in the readers mind. Then again, I could be all wrong.
By the way, have you noticed that poetry is a sub heading under Erotic Stories? And Adult Headline News is in larger, bolder print than poetry. I think that gives you a hint as to where poetry stands in adult entertainment.

Somebody Slap Me!

If I ever mention this again! LOL

I suppose you're right WE. And I have noticed the things you mentioned. That was my point. To find poetry, you have to select stories first. There is no direct route and I now concede, there probably never will be. C'est la vie.

The Sweet Smell of Supper

We are the second violin, the middle child.
Neglected, unwanted, we hang around
To get the scraps the bulldogs have left behind.

Words tumble from our empty stomachs,
Staining linens on the softest pillows
Placed once for you...and me.

Stepmother is busy and we but noisy children,
Ungrateful and questioning our place
In this world of heated polymorphic pixels.

Art is our cousin and the Muse, our goddess,
But Sarcasm and Wistful stamp through the halls
Demanding attention so loudly
That the echoes of Inspiration can barely be heard.

The rumble before dinner is trouble,
But the feast is just starting to bubble.
