If you meant the digital rectal exam (where the doctor jams a finger up yer bum, known informally on Literorica as "Rightguide's 15 Seconds of Bliss"), those physical probes were discarded when it was proven that the new blood test was moar reliable.

Any reading under 4.5 is fine. Above that level up to 10 start to get worried. Over 10 see a doctor urgently. The treatment will be three monthly injections of estrogen, ie female hormones for up to three years. Side effects include hot flushes and mammary gland growth.
