Should I just get a job?

Should I just go out and try to find some shit job with my high school diploma and no work experience?

Obviously there are some serious problems with paying for my education that my family is not sharing with me.

Working part time and paying for college is an extremely difficult lifestyle. Especially when your only means of transportation is carpool and the city bus.

I am being lied to and mislead more than I can possibly imagine.

For someone with +/- $900,000 in savings, a private health insurance plan for a young and perfectly healthy individual that costs $130 per month and taking classes at a community college seems awfully difficult.:confused::confused::confused:

I certainly hope that I'm not stuck flipping burgers and cleaning toilets for the rest of my life. I may have no other choice. Those are the only kinds of jobs available to people without college degrees.

Success in the United States is measured in academic credentials. No bachelors degree = no job paying well enough to afford an independent living.

I certainly hope I can find the energy in the morning to get up out of bed with an alarm clock after not getting a sufficient amount of sleep.

Thanks mom, thanks dad! You've been a great help and inspiration!

Seriously.....you haven't beaten this topic to a bloody grinding pulp enough, to start it again? The only thing that's holding you back is YOU, not your parents, not society. There's thousands of us who worked our way through college. I worked 40 hours a week & did 16-28 credit hours a semester to get my degree. My parents didn't offer to pay, nor did I ask. They paid for their education, not their parents. As long as you sit on here & whine like a spoiled child about what you don't have, you'll never make yourself into a decent human being. So spare us all your boo hooing, grab your balls & be a grown up.

What am I supposed to do for transportation?

When I was young and just starting out, I rode a ten speed bicycle to work until I saved up enough money to get me a car.

I don't trust myself driving a car. I may have no choice but to take public transportation or carpool with someone.

1) get a student loan
2) use it to pay for college
3) use it to pay for rent at an apartment within walking distance of the school

I don't trust myself driving a car.

Then take a bus or a cab. They get you there just as well as a car would. Otherwise, quit your bellyaching.

You totally get off on people being mean to you, don't you....that's gotta be the only reason you keep bringing up such sad pathetic stories. Such a little masochist....

Is this the first time that getting a job has occurred to you?

And it sounds like this newly discovered (possibly only in your own mind) information about your parents finanaces and deceptions puts them at the top of your "to do" list when you finally lose it.

Patricide, it's what's for breakfast!

Ok...let me get this straight....you have +/- $900,000 in savings & you're bitching you can't pay for anything? And an insurance plan that is only$130 a month? Oh, the "sorry for you" train just screamed out of the station boy.:eek:

I served 4 years in the military and used the GI BILL for a 4 year union sheet metal apprenticeship, then I used my wages to pay for college and grad school. I also worked full time while I went to school full time. During my internship I made a deal with a PhD agency head to carry a pager every nite and weekends for months, so I was able to work days.

What a colossal waste of life that was. Shoulda opened a sheet metal shop, and fucked college.

No, his parents do. And he's complaining that they wont pay the 130$ premium and his tuition. He's been mislead by them, of course...

I have mild intellectual and cognitive disabilities as I learned in high school. I may not be able to perform at par-level in a college environment.

There aren't too many people in college with IQ's below 100.

My potential in terms of work and education are extremely limited.

I have to pay the health insurance company MANY thousands of dollars before they activate my insurance plan.

MANY thousands of dollars satisfying your out-of-pocket expenses doesn't even come close to the possible millions in health costs a few months in the hospital will cost you. You still don't understand how indsurance works...

$130 a month for private health insurance is really cheap. If it was more than that I'd say cancel it and take your chances at your age. But you never know...

Every time I bring up the subject of insurance and tuition to my mother, she quickly lights up a cigarette and changes the subject.

Your parents are only legally obligated to take care of you until you're 18. After that, they can pretty much ignore the crap out of you, if they chose to do so. They're not obligated to pay for your school, your insurance, or anything they don't want to. Once again, they earned that money...you didn't, so you're not entitled to anything they don't want to give you. Your mom is probably trying to shut out the constant reminder of her bad parenting choices....

I had zero dollars and went to a private university. You just take out a student loan.

Not only do you have to pay the insurance premium but also the deductible and out of pocket expense.

A lot of the plans I've looked at have deductibles of $5,000 and even higher out of pockets. Having a private health insurance plan would cost five-digits per year. Most people my age are either working or in school.

I understand now that the reason I'm not insured is simply financial. But it still fascinates me how someone can look you in the eyes and repeatedly lie over and over and over again. Regardless of how much or how long you press them for answers.

I should have just gotten some shit job up at the grocery store and worked there for the rest of my life.

I understood that I would continue my education after high school and then start a career. I never knew I would be left entirely on my own.

My capacity in terms of work and education are extremely limited because of my mental disabilities.

So go without insurance! You make up excuse after excuse about why you can't do something. Your repetitive threads are so tiring.
