Should I get back into writing?

Without reading the story:

If you have stories inside, and you have the time and energy to give them to the world, and have the desire to keep improving.

You should write.

Well, let's see--your writing is perhaps a little rough around the edges, but it's really not bad at all. There's nothing there that a good editor can't make better. You have the basic prerequisites: you can set a scene and tell a story.

As well, both chapters have high scores and you've received a decent number of positive comments on both. All in all, an excellent job based on your reader's evaluations. Your audience likes your work.

So, why wouldn't you continue to write, whether the storyline you've already established or a new one?

(That's more than a rhetorical question. I can think of a few possible reasons, but it would be inappropriate to speculate here.)

Thanks

Thanks I appreciate the positive feedback. I hope to get back to writing next week I just needed a little positive push. I have a few ideas rolling around in my head so hopefully I will have some new stuff up soon.

Good. Best of luck!

It is completely up to you whether or not you wish to continue a story. I am not going to lie. If you are able to devote an hour or two each day to writing you will make progress. However, it can be a frustrating process. In a multi-part story you run the risk of getting tired of the characters and needing to take a break from them.

I write mostly literary fiction but dabble in erotic fiction because it builds up my overall writing chops. Putting together an erotic scene is not an easy thing to do. It requires a great deal of revision. Well, for me it does. The payoff, however, is a major improvement on your overall skill level.

As far as your question goes, are these characters speaking to you? Are they making noise in your head demanding that you tell their story? If so, you should write it. If not? Maybe they have already said everything they want to say.

No, I wouldn't "start" writing and posting on this series again. If you resume writing it, I suggest you not post until it's done. You've let your readers down once already on this series now.

Dude, stop looking to others for validation. Do you like to write? Then write. Do you dislike writing? Then don't write.

I suspect the latter. After all, it has been 4-1/2 years since his original posting of the question without a word being written/submitted despite some encouragement after the OP.

Life actually got in the way and I didn't have time to devote to writing. I'm going to bring this story back to life and start writing again tonight and do as suggested and get a couple chapters together before I submit. I'll be looking for an editor in a little while if anyone is interested. Been getting the juices flowing the last few days and have some good ideas. Hopefully I haven't dissapointed anyone to much with the long break.

I would suggest that you get all of it finished before you post anything else and that you include a note at the beginning of the first chapter posted to the effect that the work is completed. You've let your readers of this down once. Why should they gamble on you again?

The creative juices were really flowing last night and I got some great writing done. Hope to continue tonight. I decided to make it 5 parts total and will submit the last 3 parts all at the same time.

You might want to put a link in the New Stories sticky at the top of the page.
