Yup And don't you love those threads where the person asks a question as if they haven't already made up their minds about what they ultimately intend to do?

I've heard a Vespa described as "a two-wheeled shopping cart powered by a lawn mower". Even so, even so.

Nope. The crazy people will try to run you over.

They do that anyway.

lol. you should get one of those scooterist helmets that looks like a brain, or a lemon, or a baldhead.

si People are comforted by the agreement of others

The time of the Bronx has come! ;) My husband has a talent; he brings gentrification with him everywhere he goes. This is proven fact.

I won't lie though, Brooklyn calls to me, particularly some neighbourhoods in South Brooklyn. You can get surprisingly good eats in Bay Ridge. It's too bad that the local R is the train of the damned.

It's funny, he pictures me on a yellow one too. I'm thinking white, brown or light blue though. Probably white. Can be decorated with decals and stuff.

i used to know a dude with a powder blue vespa. it was just adorable. he, however, was kind of a weirdo, but, hey, he introduced me to kraftwerk, so that's cool.

A Vespa is a decent method of getting around a city, but trading Manhattan for the Bronx?

Yikes.

Adorable counts for a lot. I love how the mirrors look like little antennae.

The R is indeed awful; almost as bad as the C, but at least the cars aren't 35-years old.

When I lived in the Bronx (Parkchester) I used to ride my bicycle to the West Village. While it was bright, that is. Riding up Westchester Ave in the dark was too scary.

That almost makes me want to hold out for a flying unicorn.

I have to admit, if you don't live above the noise, in a penthouse, Manhattan is a little bit overrated. GREAT TO VISIT.

Ah, what can you tell me about the 4?

car vs. vespa loses everytime.
did he take out a life ins. policy too?

Also I just want to say no. He hasn't. I read the safety stories related to scooters and they give me a little bit of the horror, but still no more than stories about bicycling in the city (which I do, cautiously).

...Ah, what can you tell me about the 4?

The whole Lexington Ave line (4, 5 & 6) is overcrowded. But relatively efficient. The further north you are, the easier to get a seat. And the 4 and 5 run express from 125th St to City Hall, which is nice. If you have to stand, go all the way to the end of the car and lean against the connecting door between cars: a/c vent right over you head.

My main trains are the J, then the L when the J is on the fritz. They're fair, overall. Having to always use two or three lines to get anywhere to and from home is sometimes annoying, but one adapts. Since I get out during the evenings and work weekends, mechs like Vespas aren't very practical for moi. :(

I'm still a West Village/East Village/LES & occasional Midtown/Midtown East/UES food joint romper thanks to my '90s holdovers and footpaths still hanging on. But I've been tabbing up tons of new-ish and standby Brooklyn eateries to bounce to. Hard to break out of my set grid, though. I got keep bottles in certain places I frequent which means I can drink cheap when available, so that gets first play! ;)
