I tried to post a story a week ago, a re-write of a story from 2015 called "Willow Falls" with a new title and a massive amount of changes, with a note that stated it was a new version of an old story. I got it rejected within a day, with a note saying I should let the editors know if I wanted to delete the original version of the story and post the new one, or have the text of the new one replace the old one. Totally a fair question! I resubmitted, with a note saying that I would like the old one deleted and the new one posted fresh. It's now been a week in pending, and my suspicion is that, because of that first rejection, the submission has been tagged as an edit rather than a new story, even though it was never previously published. If this is true, would I be better off pulling my submission, and putting in a new one so that I can get into the "new story" queue rather than the edit queue? I know that edits can take weeks to go live. I could just make my initial note clearer (that I want the original "Willow Falls" deleted), and have the new one up in a few days, right?
Thanks!
EDIT: The story is in HTML pasted right into the text editor, not a .doc, so I don't think that should be a factor.
