Laurel - pretty good article. In a nutshell it says the Dems have capitulated to the left and the conservative Repubs. to the religious right. So what else is new?
Whenever topics like this come up, I'm always amazed at the labels people hurl at each other. Tonight I'm a "conservative" because of what I said about Clinton and Condit. Someone said they didn't care if Clinton lied under oath - the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of our country! The Big Cheese! It's not about Dem. or Liberal or Repub. or Conservative. It's about perjury. He violated his oath of office! The law doesn't say it's okay to commit perjury if it's about a blowjob. If the dumbass were a Republican, I'd be just as pissed off.
Now that I think about it, I'm not sure which politicians I despise more - liberals or conservatives
Liberals and conservatives alike want to use the power of government against its citizens to advance their own sense of morality. They can both go straight to hell.
Liberals believe the government has a moral responsibility to take money from one person and give it to another. Please don't start the BS about no police, army, firemen, roads, schools, etc. The government has become the purveyor of social programs. It's completely out of control. Liberal politicians create class envy and mistrust among different groups by lying to their constituents about Social Security and Medicare. They have created an image that "the rich" are evil, and got that way only by inheritance, dishonesty, or taking advantage of others. They define vote-buying.
On the other hand, Conservatives believe the government has a moral responsibility to protect citizens from themselves. They believe women should not have the right to an abortion. They support laws criminalizing consenting sexual behavior between adults, drugs, and gambling. Individual rights and billions of dollars fly out the window in the name of the "Drug War." Personal possessions are seized and never returned.
An airplane carrying American missionaries is mistaken for one carrying drugs and is shot down. Conservatives try passing a blatantly unconstitutional law against flag burning., then have the gall to talk about liberty and freedom - on their terms.
Condit's pompous arrogance during last night's interview was appalling. He truly believes he can BS his way out of this and get re-elected. He may be right. How else could clowns like Kennedy, Clinton, Thurmond, McCarthy, etc. continue to get re-elected?
