Should criticism of Pat Buchanan be a "hate crime"?

Some people believe in political correctness, including some people/alts that infest this very site. They probably even believe it should be illegal to express opinions that violate standards of political correctness.

Therefore, I propose that criticism of the great glorious genius Pat Buchanan be declared politically incorrect and socially unacceptable. Furthermore, in those countries that have "hate" speech laws I propose that any criticism of Pat Buchanan, overt or implied, be outlawed and punishable by 1,000 lashes with a whip.

Therefore, this 28th day of July 2012, may this decree be legally implemented in said jurisdictions.

Intolerance of intolerance is not a "hate crime".

Everyone in America has teh right to free speech. This right, however, does not exempt a person from receiving criticism, even if that person really Really REALLY believes what they are saying.

"Hate crime" is not hating someone for their actions (speech/deeds) so much as hating entire groups of people for things they have no control over (race, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, etc).

To go full Godwin here, let me give you an extreme example:

Hitler hated teh Jews. He put in place policies to eradicate Jews.
That is a hate crime.

People criticized Hitler for his views.
That is not a hate crime.

A subtle but distinct notion, often lost upon teh conservative masses.

Hate crime is an Orwellian myth. You cannot prosecute people for having an emotion. You prosecute them for their behavior.

Secretly, liberals would love to shut up everyone except themselves.
No more so than conservatives.
In fact Hannity actually does it. If someone calls his show and he doesn't like what they are saying, he either hangs up on them or shouts them down so they can't be heard.

Secretly, liberals would love to shut up everyone except themselves. Many hours of boozy elbow bending has been spent trying to figure out a politically correct way to shut down conservative talk radio. They've gone after them all, Limbaugh, Buchanan, Levin, Hannity, et al.

Media outfits like MSLSD don't believe in free speech, they believe in liberal speech. Much like the Women's Movement only supports the rights of liberal women. Same mentality.

Once again, teh Vettebigot assigns positions to people/groups he doesn't agree with politically, then criticizes "their" beliefs.

If you and your right-fringy pals moderated this site, you would ban / global-ignore tag anybody with one short leg that caused them to lean even slightly left.

Truthfully, very few people of any stripe like hearing any veiwpoints that do not match their own, challenge their worldview, or would cause them to re-examine thier own beliefs.

Human nature.

Political correctness should be illegal.
Free speech means just that, but doesn't gaurantee anyone has to listen.

That fox in your AV is smarter than you. More civilized, too.

99% bullshit. I don't listen on a regular basis but when I have I've heard him follow through on plenty of calls he doesn't agree with. Come on.
I listened to him every day for years. I'm quite familiar with his tactics. Yes, occasionally he lets them complete a thought, but that's the exception, not the norm.
And yeah, he is 99% bullshit.

I don't follow the whole hate crime logic. If it's not against someone who's gay or of another protected class, is it an indifferent crime?

I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.

It was in Germany. Don't believe me? Ask the Gestapo!
