Has anybody tried those sprays that prevent the shoes to smell bad? Are they effective? Do they last long?

I have some suède shoes (whom I like very much) who do not let my feet breath too much and even if I have a good hygene and change socks daily, they smell after each time I wear them. I was considering to buy one of those sprays. If you have any advice for me, I'm all ears. :)

Thanks

Febreze is good stuff. The best thing though is to stuff newspaper in them and make sure they are completly dry inside before wearing them again. For some reason the newspaper helps absorb odors... but it works well. To dry mine,I lay them on their sides in front of the refrigerator open side towards the refrigerator. The heat from the fridge running helps them dry out.

In the US, the most common brand is called "Odor Eaters" -- they're charcoal impreginated insoles you put in your shoes to absorb the perspiration and odors in your shoes.

Another possible solution is to change your brand of socks or wear a pair of plain white cotton socks under your regular socks. Almost every problem I've had with foot odor has been eliminated by getting rid of black socks or wearing plain white socks under them. If you can find socks that have "wicking action" to draw the perspiration into the sock and away from th surface of the socks, they can make a difference.

Dr Scholl's, the maker of Odor Eaters insoles, also makes (or used to make when I last had to wear black socks 15 years ago,) "Odor Eater" socks -- they're the ONLY black socks I can wear without white socks underneath.

If you can alternate your favorite pair of shoes withyour second favorite shoes so they have a full day to air out between wearings, that will also help minimize the problem.

one of my padt roommates had a problem with her shoes smelling. she used a spray to help it. I dont remember which one, but it worked. and believe me, you could tell a difference when she would run out of the spray. That smell was absolutely horrible.

You may want to use a little Lysol disinfectant spray (one of the scented kinds)... It gets rid of the odor AND the bacteria that actually causes it... :)
