Only one Summer? I dragged out my part-time career in the shoe store through high school, college and for a couple of years after. It was the most entertaining job I ever had; besides the view benefit, I got lots of phone numbers and lots more sex than any of my buddies.

Make Your Own

There is a lady on the Internet named Mary Wales Loomis who is selling a book for $25 to teach people how to make their own shoes. It's not for making hiking boots but women's shoes don't look that hard.

Haven't tried it though.
