Of course I normally stay out of this (or, when cranky, argue that we really must stop obsessing about votes), but this is ridiculous.

My "Fibonacci's Window" was just adjusted to a 4.0.

I haven't seen this story above a 3.8 since it was posted. It entered the august ranks at somewhere around a 3.45 if memory serves, and it took months for it to break much above the 3.6-ish it was stuck at for a very long time. What's more, it has a host of public comments supporting the voting decisions of my adoring admirers:

This is either brilliant or crap but I can't tell. All I know is that it doesn't make a tiny bit of sense to me.

What a crock of shit!!

That was the biggest load of shit I have ever read, why the hell would you waste your time even typing that crap. Congratulations you are the biggest LOSER!

Now clearly, these are heartfelt, honest, and sincere "0's" on the PC thermometer, and undoubtedly 1's as well in the voting. Yet they've evidently been plucked from the votes and left my poor "Window" a middling child of mediocrity instead of the delightful plunge into the abyss it was.

By God, it's enough to make a person start another of those interminable "new voting system and why we should string up Laurel and Manu if they don't institute it" threads. It's appalling what an author has to put up with these days. ;)

I've mostly stopped looking at my scores - the movements are too painful. I'm happier if I don't know.

I just thought of that story two weeks ago, when "Mystery" showed an Inspector Lynley episode which used Fibonnaci's theory. I can go vote you a 1 if you want to go back to the abyss, darling horsie? ;)

*tickles one silky black ear with a sprig of lavender*

JAMMIES! *POUNCE*

*shivers*

Lavender and ear-tickling? I'm entirely your weak-kneed servant, I am sure.

But on the topic of votes, pray don't trouble yourself. I only thought the thread would be a laugh. :) Besides, there is some joy in sticking to one's principles. I've held my tongue through who knows how many troll-bombings because I refuse to give the numbers enough significance to complain to Laurel and Manu about them. Tongue-in-cheek threads aside, I'll just have to suffer through a ... what shall we call it, a boost-bombing? .... with the same stoic equanimity. ;)

Especially lately. I had one drop from 4.70 to 4.66, but the vote count didn't change. I'd love someone to explain that.

I can't complain though, the last couple of sweeps helped me pretty significantly, so I'm happy for now. But every time I head to the AH, I pass my Members board. When I can't resist the temptation to look (which I try to do, using Roxanne's scientific approach ;) ), I'm hoping for no movement. It's doubtful I'm going to get any good surprises on the finished ones at this point, so it's always waiting for the next score drop.

my votes and numbers have been fluctuating in minute amounts lately, but I keep a fanatical eye on the scores (my girl says it's my latent competitive streak) and votes, so I can pretty much calculate how many of any one score I got.

It's a cool technique, but it take a little bit of fiddling- anyone who wants to know how many times they got a one vote, toss me a score and the number of votes and I'll work it out for you.

:HiJack:Welcome back Jammies. :/HiJack:

I did one silly story several years ago that languished for months around a 4.0. Then I didn't look for months and it had jumped up to the Top Rated List  Now it's back to a 4.54.

One must always recall my friend, that 0's and 1's on LIT? Are a 'I did not get off' vote. I know you know you write for better purposes than getting off. And I know you know that those comments posted mean nothing. ;)

I will read and give my take you promo-hoe! ;)

I really liked that one, Shang. Brilliant work.

My one attempt at something different almost has an H. I wonder what I did wrong? ;)

Shang was not asking about the story?
