I suppose scylis either is laboring over a good answer to my question or he has decided that I am not worth answering. Let me tell you a secret, scylis; you have the right intentions at heart, although you may indeed be wrong this time.

Tasteless jokes and bad humour challenges us to accept the darker side of our fragile freedom of speech; it forces us to reexamine how seriously we take ourselves and our beliefs by asking us to laugh at the horrible and make light of tragedy. It's not easy living in a society where you must stand beside a man preaching everything you hate and resist physically engaging him.

what makes us accept the darker side of the freedom of speech that the US Constitution protects is having to accept the fact that, were he alive today, and speaking on public property, we would have to listen to Hitler spew his hate-filled venomous propaganday until his health became endangered. white supremasists have the same right to proclaim their rightiousness and world views as do the rest of us. same as abortionists, PETA, religious groups, protesters, the NAACP, and anybody else that is a citizen of the United States of America and all who are within its borders legaly.

tasteless jokes and bad humor are like a fart in the wind in comparison to what the "dark side of the first amendment" really is.
