Thousands will read your story and, yes, someone will get the creeps over it. Someone else will think Shirley 2006 was definitely the way to go. Another will wonder why not Shirley 1967. Others will clamor for a sequel featuring Warren.
It's the classic case of you can't please everyone. So write your story. It may be a hit, or it may be a flop, but at least it will be
