"Ships in the night"

Life is often made up of missed opportunities, of meeting that never quite take place. That face in a crowd that catches your eye, or the laughter that makes you ears perk up., Or for us guys the sway of a pair of hips as she goes walking by. We sigh and go about our business to busy to take the time or a chance that she might just be the one. We pass like "Ships in the night"

No what if we didn’t, what if when she crossed our path we took that chance in that improbable meeting ? Would she be a lady or a tramp? Would we be a gentleman or a beast out to take her.? Well let’s see.

IC; Tim McCall was in his early fifties and had never taken a chance in his life. Always conservative never flashy, and full of pent up emotions. He came out of the lobby of the bank he worked at and into the driving rain. Hell how could you get a taxi on a night like this?

Spying a cab at the taxi stand he made a mad dash for it his glasses fogging and then:

WHAM he ran dead into her and landed in a puddle six inches deep. He shook himself got up and extended hi hand to her.

“Sorry did see you. I am terribly sorry.”

Then he saw he eyes and was lost.

Cara O'Hagan

I could scarcely contain my impatience, leather-clad toes tapped against the marble floor of the Hyatt in a rapid staccato, mimicking the sound of the downpour outside. I dreaded the thought of going out into the veritable monsoon but there wasn’t much I could do about it. If I planned on keeping her families long running Irish pub, O’Hagan’s afloat, this was definitely not an appointment I could afford to miss.

I sighed in frustration, darting another quick glance at my watch. 6:55 pm. And I was supposed meet the financiers at 7:00. I growled lightly under her breath, pearly white teeth gnashing in frustration. I’ll never make it in time. What a lovely impression this will make. I thought wryly, my ire growing with each passing moment as I waited for the concierge to remove the phone from his ear.

The concierge lowered the phone and smiled politely. It was one of those oh-so-fake smiles. You know the kind, the ones that never really quite met the eyes.

“There will be a cab waiting for you right outside, Ma’am. Can I have one of the bellhops escort you to the curb?”

“No...no. I will manage fine by myself. I’m late as it is.” I said without preamble, shouldering my shoulder bag. “I’ll just make a run for it. A little water never hurt anyone. I doubt I’ll melt.” I called over my shoulder as I headed through the revolving door, flipping my unruly mass of red curls back away from my face.

Squinting, I could make out what looked to be my taxi parked along the curb. Lowering my head, and bracing myself for the onslaught of the hammering rain, I took off at a brisk jog, sprinting towards the curb.

I never even saw him.

One minute I was dashing through the puddles, the next I was sitting on my ass in one, the breath literally knocked out of me. Gasping for breath and blinking against the rivulets of water that poured down my face, I looked up into the face of the wall that I hit, green eyes flashing angrily.

“Sorry did see you. I am terribly sorry.”

The anger dissolved as quickly as it surfaced and I laughed in spite of the situation, grasping his hand and letting him haul me up. It couldn’t have been that difficult, being only 5’4” and pretty much the resembling the equivalent of a drowned kitten. Not that he looked much better, what with fogged up glasses perched askew on his nose.

“Sorry you did see me??? So you saw me and decided to run me down anyway?” I grinned.

“Ah sorry …. I mean I didn’t see you…. Glassed fogged the rain… I was running late for a business meeting and I saw the cab and made a mad dash.”

Those green eyes seemed to sparkle and dance. Her hair a mad confusion of firry copper plastered to her face by the down pour. I reached out my hand and brushed a wayward strand from her eyes on impulse.

“Damn the cab”

I watched in horror as it pulled away. Hell I’d never get another in time to make the meeting.

“Well I’m afraid Miss O'Hagan will not be to impressed with our bank”

I stood there in the driving rain, just looking at her wishing I had the courage, to ask her out for a cup of coffee, anything to keep her from slipping away, and out of my life.

“Where were you going Miss……..”

Cara

“O’Hagan.” I replied calmly considering the fact it took a considerable effort to keep my jaw from hitting the pavement. Surely this couldn’t be the bank rep she was supposed to meet! Hells bells! Blast my luck! “You wouldn’t perchance be Tim McCall would you? Works with Haberworth National Bank?” I queried, half in hopes it was and half in hopes it wasn’t.

At his affirmative reply, I burst out laughing. I thrust out my hand to him, green eyes sparkling through wet spiky lashes, smiling widely. “I’m Cara O’Hagan, Mr. McCall. I do believe I was to be your 7pm appointment.”

“It looks as if both of us are going to be a wee bit late for our meeting.” I announced with a sigh, admiring his ruggedly handsome face and easy smile. I spontaneously reached up and straightening his glasses. “There,” I smiled, pleased with myself. He presented quite a handsome picture, soaked suit or no.

“Looks like we won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Would you like to take a leisurely stroll with me back to my room?” I motioned to the hotel behind me, before plucking at the saturated silk blouse that seemed to be glued to my chest. “I have a few dry towels up there with my name written all over them. I’d be happy to share, if you like. It’s the very least I can do, seeing as how I managed to throw myself in your path and all.” I grinned.

Her green eyes danced with merriment and a love for life that I only dreamed of. Every thing in my neatly ordered world screamed “NO” this is a conflict of interest. T o Hell with my neatly ordered world I was going to go

“Cara I’m Tim and I think we better cancel this evenings meeting in favor of a dry warm place.”

“I would be delighted, lead the way.”

What was I going putting everything on the line for sparkling green eyes and a very shapely young lady, who’s silk blouse left nothing to the imagination as it clung to her like a second skin.

Leave all or must of my fears behind I followed her to her room enchanted by the way her hips swayed.

Cara

I punched the button for the eight floor, leaning back against the wall of the elevator, smiling politely at the disreputable character that entered the elevator along with us. My smile faded a bit as I noticed the other man continued to stare at me, or more specifically, my chest. I glanced down, cheeks flaming with embarrassment as I took note of what drew his interest. I might as well not even have a shirt on! My soaked blouse was now completely translucent, leaving absolutely nothing to the imagination. It completely outlined the lacy fabric of the Victoria Secret’s bra I was wearing. Not to mention that it in itself was already sheer!

I folded my arms across my chest and glared the man down. A lecherous grin spread across his face in response as he sauntered out of the elevator on the sixth floor. I breathed a sigh of relief and slid a sidelong glance to Tim. He was being a perfect gentleman, or at least he was to my face. I grinned to myself at that thought. A definite brownie point.

The elevator chimed as it reached my floor and I lead the way to my room, hips gently swaying. The fabric of the thankfully dark skirt unknowingly clung to the lush curve of my hip and derrière. I unlocked the door and motioned for him to enter.

“Please. Have a seat. I’ll grab a couple of towels from the bath for you. If you would like some coffee or tea, feel free to call room service, we can have some sent up.” I said to him as I made my way to the bath. “I’ll be back in just a sec.”

I entered the bath, leaning over the marble sink, peering at my refection. God, I looked a perfect mess. I grabbed a towel, flipping my head over and wrapped like a turban around my fiery mane, just a few wispy curls peeking out. I grabbed a cloth and scrubbed what little make-up that remained on my face off. The scattering of freckles across the bridge of my nose was accentuated by the fresh, rosy glow caused by the recent scrubbing.

I sighed to myself as I watched my reflection. Just what was I doing? Dear God! Here I was inviting a total and complete stranger into my hotel room. Och! My father would be rolling in his grave!

I shrugged to myself, shooing away the disturbing thoughts. I am just being a gracious host and kind person. I reminded myself. Who could benefit greatly if this gentleman was coaxed to approve your loan request. I frowned fiercely at my refection with that thought.

“I’m going crazy no doubt. But at least, I’m not talking to myself.” I whispered, and then groaned! Jesus!

“Is everything alright in there?” A male voice called from the other side of the door.

I nearly jumped a mile. “Yes!” I yelped, clearing my throat and speaking in a normal tone of voice. “Yes. I’ll be right out.”

Quickly I discarded my soaked clothes, squeezing the water out as best I could and draping them over the shower rod. I grabbed a white fluffy robe from the back of the door and swathed myself in it, knotting the sash tightly. With a deep steadying breath, I snatched two thick white terry towels from the towel rack and exited the bath. Smiling brightly, I handed the towels to Tim and sat on the edge of the bed, curling my feet under me. “The bath is all yours, feel free. Sorry I took so long.”

I scanning the hotels endless list of services, damn why can’t they just list room service as that. No they have to bury it deep under the heading of “Guest services”, no it wasn’t their fault I was as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. “What was I doing here in her room, what did I expect was gong to happen? Well nothing because that is what always happened.

“Is everything alright in there?” ………”Yes”

Came the simple reply and her voice was as soft as a gentle spring rain and I knew no matter what happened I would stay and see where this went.

“Yes. I’ll be right out.”

Screwing up my courage I picked up the phone and called for a pot of coffee. I was just about to hang up when the bathroom door open and there she stood, white fluffy robe, That wild firry mane wrapped in a turban , a few stray hairs escaping at the nape of her neck, sway out into the room barefooted , and walking out of my secret fantasy and into reality. My mouth hung open catching flies.

“The bath is all yours, feel free. Sorry I took so long.”

Those simple words brought me back to reality. Closing my mouth and replacing the receiver, blushing at the thoughts that where running rampant through my mind.

“Thanks Coffee is on the way”

I retreated into the relative security of her Bath room. Well I looked at myself in the mirror. Get a hold on yourself Tim.

Your in your 50’s, bald, and live the exciting life of a loan officer, at a major commercial bank, you hold the fate of her family’s business in your hands, Hell you could demand anything from her and she’d have little choice in the matter. Ah yes You Tim McCall the great seducer of actuary tables.

I striped wring out as best I could the conservative navy blue woolen three business suit. Wrapping a towel about me like a kilt I sure was no “Mel Gibson”. But not made either I guess the fencing, a passion sense my days in college, hadn’t all been a waist of time.

Taking a deep breath I open the door and walked out into who knows what.

Cara

I smiled politely as he retreated to the bathroom. He didn’t seem awkward at all with this situation. Damn his hide. At the click of the latch as the bathroom door shut, I scrambled up off the bed, peering at myself in the mirror once again.

Oh yes, Cara, you are the very picture of the femme fatal. I murmured under my breath as I gauged my appearance, a fiery brow quirked in a sardonic arch. Why he’ll be feeding you peeled grapes and fanning you with palm leaves in no time. Pfffft. I laughed a bit at that mental image.

My gaze darted to the bathroom door as I heard some movement. I quickly removed the turban from atop my head and let my hair fall free. Damp red locks twisted and curled around my face and shoulders as I plumped and arranged them with my fingers. I adjusted the neckline of the white fluffy robe, exposing a bit more of creamy flesh and abundant cleavage.

What the hell are you doing? The though pushed itself through my mind again, and I stubbornly pushed it away. I squared my shoulders a bit, chin tilted obstinately. I honestly hadn’t planned on anything like this happening, but what with the situation presenting itself, why not milk it for what its worth? Everyone, and I must admit myself included, seriously doubted that Haberworth’s would actually agree to spot me the money I was needing to drag O’Hagan’s out of the debt my father had gambled himself into. It seemed I have inherited a touch of my father’s gambling compulsion. Hopefully lady luck would shine her favor upon me a bit more than she did my father.

I had reclined back on the bed, leaning against the headboard, one trim and shapely ankle crossed over the other, casually flicking through a magazine as he exited the bath - The picture of utter calm and cool.

My, but he was an attractive man. My gaze roamed over his body – very little of it hidden by the towel knotted around his waist. The corners of my mouth lifted into a bit of a saucy grin. This may be more fun that I had first thought.

I opened my mouth to speak only to be interrupted by a knock on the door.

“Oh, that must be room service. Would you mind please?” I asked, nodding my head at the door.

I walked out of the bathroom I wondered If Cara could tell I was not the suave sophisticated Banker bon vie vond man of the world but a timid little clerk that was to tell her the loan had been approved and it was only a matter of coming in the morning and signing the papers..

My mouth dropped open and I quickly shut it as she lay there her trim ankles crossed, the white robe nearly open to the waist, god her, hair, those flashing green eyes. Hell there was only one thing on my mind and it wasn’t banking.

“Oh, that must be room service. Would you mind please?”….” sure.”

“Your coffee Sir.” The bellman brought it in smiled and said.

“Have a good evening” as he passed me he smiled and winked .

“A bit of all right I see you’ll have a good evening sir”.

Cara

I fought back the blush the porters exiting comments had caused as I stood and poured two cups of the steaming java, the aroma filling the room. I handed Tim a brimming cup and took a tentative sip of my own, watching him curiously over the rim.

“So, Tim.. May I call you Tim? It seems rather silly to refer to you as Mr. McCall considering the circumstances. You may call me Cara, if you like.” I smiled up at him as I propped a hip against the desk.

“Shall we discuss business tonight or should I make another appointment with you?”

“No by all means let’s discuss business to night Cara it’s a Friday and we are a commercial bank and will be closed for the weekend………..So let me see your assets. And yes call me Tim.”

There seemed to be a disappointed frown that crossed her face, as she reached for the portfolio on the desk.

‘No Cara I was referring to “Your Personal assets.”

God had I really said that shell start screaming any minute now. Strangely she just froze in mid reach her robe opened a bit more and I could just make out a pert little nipple.

Screwing up all the courage I had, I was bound to make up for years of missed opportunities. Oh well in for a penny in for a pound.

“Your a smart girl Cara I am sure you know what I mean.”

God I was sure she could see my legs shaking, some seducer I was.

Cara

“Your a smart girl Cara I am sure you know what I mean.”

I froze at his words, the folder on the desk forgotten. Oh my God! This is really going to happen! Maybe I am quite the seductress after all – A natural talent no less. My lips curled into a well-pleased, sensuous smile at that ridiculous thought.

I turned toward him as that smile widened, my head tilting quizzically to the side as I regarded him with a mock look of shocked innocence.

“My ‘personal’ assets?” I repeated. “Such as these?” I asked as I loosened the sash of my robe. The white terry panels parted, offering an expanse of creamy naked flesh to his view. The dusky pink nipples that tipped my ripe breasts tightened immediately at the rush of cool air. I slipped my hands into the draping panels of the robe and pushed them back behind my smooth, rounded hips, allowing him a better view of my shapely legs, and the closely trimmed V of fiery hair that demonstrated that I was indeed a true redhead. Although I was rather petite, I was goodly proportioned and had coaxed quite a few second glances with my clothes on even.

“Alright Tim. Fair is fair.” I said with a sassy grin as I inclined my head to his knotted towel. “You’ve seen my ‘assets’, now… lets see yours.”

“My ‘personal’ assets?” Cara repeated. “Such as these?”

I was amazed, could it really be that easy. The look of shocked innocents on her face, her slow, almost timid movements, as her body was exposed to me, her breasts, were her nipples actual getting harder, the neatly trimmed “V” of firry copper, pointing the way to her most private, and personal, areas, a true redhead, petite, all my teenage fantasies coming true, and standing in front of me. No longer the timid little bank V P yes Siring his way up the cooperate chain of the bank, but a man, bending this gorgeous, sensual, creature, to my will. God it had been so easy. Why had I never tried this before. All those years as a door mate. Then in one sentence it all came crashing down.

“Alright Tim. Fair is fair.” she said with a sassy grin as she inclined my head to my knotted towel. “You’ve seen my ‘assets’, now… lets see yours.”

The light in my eyes went out and I was once again faced with the reality of my humdrum existence. My voice no longer animated, but its usual flat noncommittal self.

“Miss O'Hagan my conduct now was most shameful, you have the banks number, you can make your repot to them on Monday, and by the way your loan request was approved, so you needn’t have to play your game.”

I turned and headed for bathrom to put on my wet clothes.

Oh holy fuck! I am dying. I’m sure of it. I could feel my face crumple, there was no need for a mirror. My cheeks burned as if they were on fire. Oh my God... Oh MY God! You, Cara, have made a complete and utter fool of yourself.

I stared at his back as he walked away towards the bathroom letting his words soak in.

“Miss O'Hagan my conduct now was most shameful, you have the banks number, you can make your repot to them on Monday, and by the way your loan request was approved, so you needn’t have to play your game.”

I sat down on the edge of the bed hard, nearly numb from shock. Absently I pulled the robe back around me, covering my nakedness and tied the sash.

“I have the banks number?” I shook my head. Yeah. I could certainly see myself calling them … “Oh yes. This is Cara O’Hagan. The financial risk your establishment was willing to take a chance with. Yes. Well, I want to report the failed impromptu seduction of one Tim McCall. Yes. No, no, I’m completely serious. He turned me down flat after flaunting my most willing and naked self in front of him. You should be rather proud... in fact, perhaps even consider him for a fucking promotion.” I fumed to myself, unaware I was speaking my thoughts aloud.

I turned to drive the point home in my anger and disappointment at the lost of a child hood fantasy crumbled. I was face to face with a beautiful vibrant woman who had been nothing but kind to me sense we ran literal into each other. Her face was crimson, her sparkling green eyes, now shimmered with tears. Her feet drawn up under her robe as she clinched it tightly to her throat. In that instant I saw what she had really offered and what I had thorn back in her face.

I ran to her and wrapped her into my arms, trying to kiss away tears as she struggled to be free of me, but I was determined to hold on, for once in my life, as the words tumbled from my mouth, of all that I had thought, of the fact that I was no ladies man, but just a shy, awkward, lonely, bumbling, fool who had hurt the only person that ever was nice to him.

“Cara I want you so much but I don’t know what to do, what to say, how to reach, how to make your hurt and pain go away.”

“’Cara O'Hagan all I can say is I want you more than any woman I have ever seen, your, smile, the way you walk, everything about you excites me.”

Cara O'Hagan

I let out a little yip of surprise as he pulled me to him. Oh God, what now?! I struggled against him briefly, but the weight of the world that had been settled on my shoulders for so long collapsed upon me, and I found myself cradled against his chest, shoulders shaking violently, wracked with sobs.

The last eight months had been horrible, hell on earth in fact. I had first thought my father’s penchant for gambling to be miniscule. A bet on a football game here, the occasional hand of poker there. The harsh reality of his disease really didn’t set in until after his death. It was then I had been forced to realize he had gambled away every profit and, God help me, even a portion of the ownership of O’Hagan’s itself.

I was the oldest, and with that, along with the fact our mother hand passed away years earlier, I willingly shouldered the responsibility. It had been no easy task, no doubt about it. Practically every door I had thought I could receive support, financially or just emotionally, had been slammed in my face. Father’s name was now a pariah with the community. His secret was out and it certainly was not received well.

Haberworth’s was the third bank I had went to for help. The first two had turned me down flat. Of course they were neighborhood institutions whose claim of impartiality were proven to be false. I had reached the point of desperation. I had been willing to try anything and everything to get that loan approved. I had to get O’Hagan’s out of debt and clear the name my father’s indiscretions had so thoroughly sullied. Not to mention, I had my younger brother and sister’s tuition to account for.

So there I sat, sobbing my heart out against Tim’s chest, drenching him with my salty tears, and letting my walls crumble. And for the first time in more months than I cared to even try to recall, I allowed myself to let go... to fall. Both of our intentions had been corrupt from the start, but the consequences were unimportant right now. Maybe it was a mistake, but at this moment he’s what I need and if all that amounted to be was a good cry, or perhaps more, I really didn’t care.

I could not believe it. Here I was alone, with the most enchanting creature I had ever seen. Who’s flashing green eyes and from had tempted me to try and live out a High school fantasy, who had said come and get it "Big Boy", and we where in each others arms balling our eyes out. I screwed up what little courage I had left Lifting her chin and drying here cheek with my thumbs .

‘Well Miss Cara O’Hagan I sure made a mess of that.”……” Offer for coffee still Good?”

I held her tight afraid to let her slip through my fingers..

Cara

I let him wipe the tears from my cheeks, a tremulous smile on my lips. I sniffed loudly and nodded. “I suppose the coffee’s a bit cold by now.” I murmured to him, fascinated by the warmth and kindness evident in his eyes. “I’m really sorry about how I behaved earlier…I honestly never meant to hurt you.” I whispered softly, as I leaned up and pressed my lips to his in an achingly tender kiss, my hand cradled against his cheek.

“I’m really sorry about how I behaved earlier…I honestly never meant to hurt you.”

Cara’s voice the whisper of an angel, her touch soft as a snowflake, the tenderness of her kiss a searing coal on mine.

“Cara you hurt me? Wasn’t it I who was going to play the evil old banker, forcing the young innocent girl in need of a loan, to surrender her charms to him?”

I could not help it the absurdity of are bungled start hit me and my face lit up with a smile.

‘Aren’t we the pair…..Yes the coffee I suspect is rather cold by now……..Shall we start again?”

I watched those captivating eyes of hers.

“Miss Cara O’Hagan I’m Tim Mc Call and I loved to seduce you.”

I offered Cara my hand in a most formal manner and a foolish grin split my face.

“Ah, but I thought I was the one being the femme fatale here! I was supposed to be seducing you!” She laughed at the expression on his face and returned his charming smile with one of her own.

“Miss Cara O’Hagan I’m Tim Mc Call and I loved to seduce you.”
He offered me his hand in a most formal manner and a foolish grin split his face.

I loosed yet another delighted laugh and stood, grasping his hand and shaking it firmly, as I lowered myself into a silly little curtsy. I felt as if the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders and I was near childishly giddy with delight at the feeling.

“I am delighted to meet you, Mr. Tim McCall and will very much enjoy being seduced by you.” I waggled my brows comically before collapsing on the bed in a fit of giggles, smiling up at him happily.

“I am delighted to meet you, Mr. Tim McCall and will very much enjoy being seduced by you.” Cara waggled her brows, collapsing on the bed in a fit of giggles, smiling up at me.

My body diagonally across hers, my hands pinning her arms to the bed, my lips tenderly brush hers, and with a wicked grin…..
“Now are you sure my pretty?”
I hold her dazzle green eyes with my firry hazel orbs and passionately claim her lips.

Cara

I meet his lips halfway, my neck arching to welcome the sweet crush of his lips. I relished the glorious weight of him over me. I hooked my leg over his and arched my hips up, pressing myself against him more tightly. Was I ready for this? Words were unnecessary; the answer would come across clearly enough in my response.

My tongue stroked across his lower lip, before suckling it into my mouth. I caught it between my small teeth, only to pull back and let it with a sensuous slowness slip free. My head leaned forward once more, claiming his lips again. My tongue slipped past his parted lips, gliding against his with a glorious friction, exploring his mouth fully. A low throaty whimper escaped as I tried to free my arms, anxious to feel his flesh against my warm palms.

God was she playful and exciting her kisses the most erotic pleasure I have ever known. Her bare legs sliding along mine was heaven

Reluctantly I break our kiss.

“Hmmmmm Cara you amaze me and I love it “

I was silent for a moment.

“Have you ever wanted to role-play…..I mean sexually role-play… to live out a dark fantasy, or Romance?”

My finger traced the line of Cara’s jaw down her chin, along her throat to the cleavage of her breasts.

Cara

“Have you ever wanted to role-play…..I mean sexually role-play… to live out a dark fantasy, or Romance?”

Finely arched brows stretched up, over sultry sparkling jade eyes at his words. I ran my hands up along his sides and over his chest, dragging a lazy thumb over his nipples as he awaited my reply. I tightened my leg around his and planted my hands firmly against his shoulders, shoving him over onto his back. I laughed in delight at his surprised expression as I looked down on him. My legs straddled his hips, the naked cheeks of my ass resting against his thighs.

I ran my nails down his chest gently, my head tilting quizzically. “I thought we already were living out a fantasy?” I leaned down over him, my cheek next to his, my breath warm and steamy against his ear as I whispered. “You understand it’s not a night ritual for me to invite complete strangers to my hotel room for the sole reason of ravishing their bodies.” I flicked the fleshy lobe of his ear with the tip of my velvet tongue. “This is all rather new to me.” I murmured before pulling it into my mouth to suckle it softly.

Thrown on my back I stare up at Cara her robe now fully opens, her upturned breast perfection. her warm firm buttocks a delight as she straddles my waist..

Cara ran her nails down my chest gently, her head tilting quizzically. “I thought we already were living out a fantasy?” her lips a breath away from my ear as she sensually whispered.

“You understand it’s not a night ritual for me to invite complete strangers to my hotel room for the sole reason of ravishing their bodies.”

She flicked velvet tongue. And a spark traveled the length of my body

“This is all rather new to me.”

She was better than any fantasy I had imagined and now I embraced the reality of it.

“”Me also Cara……..I…”

My eyes wide with amazement, I striped her robe form her shoulders to pool around our waist’s.

”Come here you sexy vixen"

Then I drew Cara to me, kissed as I had never kissed a woman before, long, passionate, building to a savage expression of all the years of self denial. Cara’s nipples graze my chest and ignite an unquenchable fire……….

I must have her I must make Cara O'Hagan mine if only for this one night.
