Hi all,

I find shemale's a real turn on, my one question: Why in many pictures, clips and movies when they are in erotic positions don't they have erections (I know I would), Any pictures posted gratefully accepted.

for one they are on huge amounts of hormones which make the dick not work that well. number 2 most of us transgenders don't like the terms shemales or tranny's!

I don't mind tranny. (obviously.) I think it sounds friendly. Casual. But yeah, don't call us shemales.

"Shemale" is a porn star term, it's not used for anybody outside the porn industry...it's derogatory.

And Tymeless gave the right answer, as I was expecting she would! :rose:

tranny is okay sometimes depends on how its used but shemale is never okay. I prefer just being called she her etc!

Terminology

I work in the counseling/advising industry and at a recent staff development event we had a great presentation from TransGender San Francisco, a TG advocacy/education/social organization (http://www.tgsf.org). They gave a comprehensive overview of transgender issues, theory, procedures, and most enlightening and useful for me, terminology. I had never understood the difference between transgender, transsexual, cross-dressing, drag queen/king, transvestite, and the like.

I've always found transgendered women intriguing. For a guy from a conservative area, I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable so I was aware that "shemale" is consider offensive. I know tranny is also looked down upon but usually isn't as bad as shemale.

I remember when I was younger, a group of tvs and tgs would come to the place I worked. At first I was annoyed with them, not becasue of who they were, but b/c they drove out the other patrons and then wouldn't order from me. After some time went by, i spoke to some of the leaders and started to learn more about them. We resolved our differences. They thought I was going to be hostile towards them for who they were and I thought they were intentionally not ordering through me b/c the bartender was female (and quite hot). Truth be told, i could have cared less who they were, I was only concerned with making my money. Once it got straightened out it was good.

lol..the hardest part for me was referring to the group as ladies (which they had requested). Where I'm from "you guys" is applied to any group of people and has no bearing on gender and so it was my normal speech. Everytime I said it I felt like I was tripping over my feet :) I eventually got the hang of it though.

Eventually some of them started flirting with me. I graciously flirted back (anyone thats waited tables knows you always flirt back) to get good tips. It was all nice and fun and we all know it. I think a couple were serious but at the time I never had an interest, like I said I come from a conservative background. Though i have often wondered how things could have gone.

Overall, i think it was a very good experience for me. Up until that time I didn't really have any contact with anyone that wasn't of a similar background to me (at least that was open about it). I never met anyone of a different religion till college and no one in my neighborhood was of a different race.
