Has anyone read teh short story "Shaving" by leslie Norris. I believe it is the finest example of a short story I have read in 25 years. I found it some years ago in a Literature textbook I was teaching from and used it in every Lit class since to teach what a short story is all about.
The protagonist is so cleverly written, his character revealed by simple descriptions and actions, that the true meaning of the story comes through only a while after one puts the book down. I said "HUH?, went back and read it again.
Though of a completely different genre, Norris' stories are at least the equal to Tim Obrian.
