I've no doubt most of you have already seen this image and know what it's all about, but this little video puts it so wonderfully, I thought it worth sharing....

Staggering to think about. How can there NOT be life out there somewhere.
 
Shoot, there's probably 'life', at least down to the microbial level, right next door. Say, in one of the Jupiterian moons. More complex stuff is out there a ways. Intelligent life, though, probably only happens once or twice per galaxy. Still, with that many galaxies, there must be a whole lot of thinkin' goin' on. ;)
 
What if each galaxy is the home of one life form?
Um, we already know that isn't very likely given how many life forms there already are on this one planet. ;) It's really hard to have only one life form on any planet that capable of supporting life.

You're right, I said that wrong. Even with only one planet per galaxy that supported life, that would still be a lot of life.
