OOC: A fantasy srp. For anyone who wants to join. Shadow dweller, of any race, any planet, any type, are welcome as Lila takes her journey into the land of shadows. I think this could be fun...who wants to danse?

IC:
The story had been told to her countless times over the years of her life. She looked about her at the group of men and women, some older than time, others just at the brink of life. She was in her mid twenties. It was her turn to take the stick. The creature would come to her this night, she would become the watcher, the shadow walker. The things she would see, the people she would meet were part of who she was.

Shadow Walker

The light shifts, always changing
Never beginning never ending
It is shades of gray, and black
Melding, mixing, becoming more

Walking among it is like being in a fog
A deep mist that swirls leaving a
Cool dampness on the skin
Not uncomfortable, not quite pleasant

Always accompanied by the creature
At his side who blends in with the shadows
All that shows is the amber glow of his eyes
He guides the man, who is master?

Carrying no map, using a single flame
For a torch, he wanders in the shadows
Searching for the answers he seeks
And acting as guide to those who are lost

He is gentle, in his wisdom as he
Guides us through the shadows
Not asking questions, but revealing answers
Teaching us how to interpret the shades

Let him live long and love well
As he is the shadow walker
The one who knows, the one who accepts
He knows the shadows, let him show you.

Lila, part human, part shadow creature, created solely for this purpose. The time is 2076, the earth is inhabited by creatures that are human, part human and no where near human. The land is seperated by the mountains, the fissures in the earth, and by invisible boundaries that forbid entrance on threat of death.

She turns from the fire, and looks into the darkening sky. Everyone looks upon her, her long black hair, that falls to the middle of her back in a single braid. The leather pants and vest. The tatoos circling her arms telling their tale of who she is. Her gray eyes that are tilted, shaped like large almonds and edged with thick black lashes, look over her people. She will do her duty, and keep them safe from those who dwell in shadow.

changeling
height:not definable (prefers to appear 6'0")
weight:not defineable (prefers to appear approximately 160)
sex:not definable (prefers to appear male)
build:not definable (prefers to appear muscular medium build)

the power to the changelings ability is it's sanity and the need to devour a piece of tissue of the creature in question. changelings cannot handle extremely chaotic emotions without losing control of form change ability.

a wanderer. searching for a purpose. not knowing where or why it is here nor why it is what it is.

Good morning stretch

Hmmm. It changes. We shudder.

Wonder at the echo of the voices yet to come.

Peering methodically, I think it would be best to wait for it to move once. So I should strike now then.

He stretches as he rises from his recent quiet sleep . . . and enters the greater stillness of his mind for the approach.

I see all. Who are you to stand before me and draw lines for us. Question? Answer.

Oh, and hungry again. But eat it? We lost our last prize to the fading of the light. Shall we not lose this too?

We wait for the next eternity to pass in out breath and take a stride.

"Hello," is all we whisper, for it is not ours to disturb the dark.

OOC: Is this acceptable?

Lila

OOC: Well Come to all....
I will post after work tonite, lunch doesn't afford me the time to write the way I should. So until then....Danse.

Lila

I looked out at the darkening sky. I was a creature of shadow, so the darkness did not bother me. I had enough power to keep myself safe, and to find my way. What I feared was that I didn't know. That which was hidden from me. I was told that I would learn what I needed to when the time came. Me being the person I was, never was able to accept that answer.

I took my bedroll, slung my bag over my head and shoulder so it lay crosswise on my chest. My sword hung in a scabbord on my right side slightly to the front. Food I would find in my travels.

I glanced back, seeing the pride, and the fear in my peoples eyes. I hoped I would not let them down. I made my way down the copse into the darkening land. I didn't know who I was to meet, who would be my companion, my guide. I would know when I met them.

I stepped into the shadow land, daylight never quite touching it, nighttime never making it darker. The light was surreal, it rolled like fog, in a myriad of colors, mostly grays, and whites, blues and greens. I shivered as it touched my skin.

I could feel someone near me, to the left, and slightly in front.
"Who goes there?" I asked, not raising my voice, my stick planted firmly in front of me, sending out a shot of light.

dilandu

"greetings, my name is dilandu. you don't have any reason to be scared halfling."

she seems startled at the mentioning of being a halfling.

"i'm sorry, i guess i can just tell." i slowly walk toward her, not wanting to scare her. i move my human frame into the open where she can see me.

Lila

I saw him emerge from the shadows, I let my eyes peruse his frame as he spoke. He seemed to be one thing, yet instinctively, I knew he was another.

I nodded my head, and slightly bent at the waist, a sign of respect, "My name is Lila, and I am the Shadow walker. I have come to find my guide."

I knew that telling my story was not necessarily wise, yet, I felt that this man/changelling in front of me may be part of my destiny.

dilandu

"i'm searching for reasons. maybe i'm your guide, but i do not know what i am really. i just know that i want to know why i'm here and why i'm the only one here i've traveled this entire planet looking for others like me and cannot find any. i just want to know why i'm here." *change form to a child* "how old AM i? when did i get here? how long have i been here? what am i?" *change into a myriad of different forms*

"would you mind if i accompany you?" *change back into human male form A*

"i'm on a quest of understanding. to find answers that i do not know. i may be a help to you."

Lila

I had heard of the changelings before. Never had I encountered one.

"your kind, if I remember right, like to be amoungst the type of people they chose to live their life as. They deny what they are, or they use what they are to destroy and bring mayhem" I know he already knew this. I think I was talking to him to understand it more myself.

"I am not like others either, and I would be honored if you want to travel with me until you find what you are searching for."

He had shocked me a bit, changing form. I knew it took a lot of energry to do that, but he had shown me in a matter of seconds what he was capable of.

I smiled at him, and began walking further into the shadow, away from the edges that still held some light. My eyes took on the glow of the eyes of a cat as my night vision kicked in. He smiled back at me, and we began walking.

dilandu

what exactly is a shadow walker? i'm natuarally curious. i've run into many a shadow but i haven't heard of one who walks shadows.

i wasn't able to help one. it frightened a group of villagers and when i came along it had been cut to pieces. i took a small bit of flesh and burned the body, releasing its spirit from the corpse. it was the right thing to do.

i investigate the town and asked about it. the people were on edge and seemed not to want to explain.

don't worry about the flesh, i dislike the way i have to collect new forms, but it does allow me to get around safely to have many different forms.

i've learned slowly how to mange my changes without too much energy cost. i can do it manytimes before i become winded.

so would you like to play at leader or follow the leader?

and why have you been going about by yourself?

Lila

"I was born of a human woman and a warlock. At birth, by the markings on my shoulders, it was said that I would be the next shadow walker."

I paused, trying to explain the myth. Trying to understand myself why this felt so right to me.

"My destiny is in the shadows. I have things to learn. There are people who need guidance, others who need to be released from the evil that surrounds them."

I knew the shadows were not evil in and of themselves. It was the inhabitants, or some of the inhabitants who made the dark swirling mist evil. It was forbidden to walk shadows if you were a human. But many humans did, and it corrupted them. Seeing things they could not make sense of, experiencing that which they were never meant to experience, it made them crazy, and seldom did they come back. When they did, most of them were beyond help, and had to executed.

I was searching mainly for those.

could I tell him that I was basically a bounty hunter? That with all the majik I held within me, my job was to murder? I think he already knew.

dilandu

"hmm....seems like we're in the same business. it gives me an excuse to be traveling all the time. it gives me a chance to figure out my existence..."

she nods in understanding.

Lila

We walked in silence for awhile. I had no fear of this creature. He had no fear of anything. His presence gave me comfort to a degree.

I smiled at him, "Well, then, lets go see what kind of mischeif we can thwart this night." I saw a public house a ways down the street. "I am suddenly thirsty...how about you?" I ask my eyes glowing like dull pewter.

dilandu

"why that seems like a good idea. i slightly quicken my pace. it's been months since i've drank any liquids." the young woman's jaw loses slack temporarily.

"oh, let me explain myself. you see, i don't need to eat or drink. my body produces it's own food."

her cool iron eyes go wide at the last thing i said. but i turn and keep on walking down to the building.

i turn and look at the still standing lila "well, come on now, you said you were thirsty" and continue walking.

Lila

I was suprised by his revelation. He can drink, but didn't need to...that was something I had not known about Changelings. I shrugged as I hurried to catch up with him, I was, after all out here to gain knowledge.

I pushed open the door, the place was dimly lit with sconces on the walls, high up so as to shed light, yet not disturb the eyes of those who were dark dwellers.

The smell in the place was like raw earth, and something I couldn't place. The place was not full at this point, but it was early. I caught sight of a couple of humans, and some halflings, most of the being in the place were neither.

OOC: Anyone who wants to join in, please do...there is room for multiple stories here. Thanks, Danse.

ooc: i'll try and bring a few people into it. i might be able to get THEBRAT into it.

Ooc: You said a fantasy Rp, so I assume that technology isn't really a big part of this.

Garret sat up in bed. His eyes shot open, as if expecting something. Sweat poured down from his face. The dream was real this time, he swore it was. Quickly, he grabbed a piece of paper, jotting it down. There was no escape, none.
A dark man, in the rain. He was coming. There was someone with him, someone whom Garret could only see a shadow. No figure, just a shadow.
He threw the pen and paper across the room, "It makes no sense."
He let the silence dwell in the room, as if someone might answer. It was no use though, the dream would keep haunting him, and he had no cause against it.
It must deal with something though. A man and a shadow, that can't just be some stupid dream. It was... it was a vision.
He dressed quickly, stepping out into the cold day. A thick overcast let only a small fraction of the sun flood through. Carts and horses traveled throughout the streets. Garret made his way down the street. He had heard of someone who could help him with dreams. An old fortune teller, someone who could at least stop this from happening again.
He couldn't handle this anymore. Every time he had this dream, he woke up twice as tired as when he fell asleep. It was in his mind all day, he couldn't stop thinking about it. He walked with more urgancy, making his way across the small town.

. . . And mayhem was to follow.

A smile. A glance. A nod.

So she is of destiny. I had heard that one before.

She found a friend with no identity, but a riddle where a name should be. Vampire and fiend, the changling!

The night was quiet and hurt my ears. So it was that I would make some noises to soften them, great and gentle sounds. Reflected in a pool of glass, my face held no watery reflection. I waited in the bush to for the empty sound of their voices.

Into the light, as they crept away in my direction, and their unwitting shadows cast me. As they approached the homely home, I repeated my greeting from underneath the porchlight and underneath the porch.

The hollow voice echoed and transmitted,
"Hello.":p

Lila

"hello"

I heard from beneath, and beyond. A voice that struck something in me. I wasn't sure as yet if it were good or bad.

I pulled my staff to me a bit more and dimmed the light with a light tap on the hard wooden floor. I didn't want to draw any unwanted attention. I sat at a table, and the barmaid came to ask what we wanted. She was pale as death, her eyes rimmed in black, and the pupils shot thru with red.

I ordered an ale. The barmaid waited for my companion to order. I heard it again. That voice, the familiarity of it....I looked around trying to place it, knowing it was not in here. It was not something of this place.

dilandu

i sensed something very strange as we walked closer to the bar.

"um...hmm...a red ale." i say. lila, seemed to feel it as well. it felt evil. i was feeling edgy and couldn't quite stop from shifting on my stool. my eyes constantly looking to the floor.

OOC Name is LittleWart
Dwarf

I'm a Drawf and so small that the human and shape shifter didn't even see me tracking them which was just as well for me! In that Tavern I will be able to pick and choose who my next victums will be.

My own people don't even trust me because I'm so much better at being a thief than they ever will be.

I don't like working with metal to make Swords like the rest of my people.I would rather steal a Sword than make them.

"Come in."
Garret opened the door. A dark room greeted him. A horrible smell came from the back of the room. It was a dust and old age, combined with something else that was just awful. He didn't know whether to puke or just hold his nose.
He chose the latter.
"Sit down," in a room next to him he head the voice. It was something barely recognizable as human. An old lady sat in a red satin chair, she urged him forward. Garret took her in, she would answer his problems, all of a sudden he knew she would.
He sat down, staring at her. The smell, the sight, it all disappeared as he looked into her aging eyes. Wisdom, profoud wisdom. It was all there, the key.
"You wish to know about your dreams."
Had she spoken? He heard her, but he swore her lips didn't move. For some reason though, he didn't care.
"Yes," he answered.
"A quest, to find what you seek, you must go on a quest. During the way you will seek who you find, and others. They await you, they have waited for you. Find them."
As if waking up, Garret woke up. He felt better, as if something had awoken inside him. He had a quest to go on, a wonderous quest. It would change his life.
"I'll do it, I'll go today."
"Good, now leave, and remember what happened here."
He left as soon as he could. Once the door closed a shadowy figure emerged from what seemed like nowhere. It took shape, right next to the old woman, who's features by now had turned into a shadow demon himself.
"He's going to find her for us."
"Yes, he'll lead us right to the hunter."
"Soon she will be ours."
"Soon..."
