I'm sure this question has been asked before but I could not find it in a search so I will present it again.

My wife is recovering from a hyserectomy. We are both very sexual and still are, even though we have not gotten the green light from the OB/GYN. Oral sex is still allowed but we have both noticed that she dries out sooner then before. We have anticipated this but we did not anticipate the size of the sexual lubricant market. We are both a little overwhelmed. So does anyone have any suggestions on what we should try? We are not trying to get in a hurry but when she goes in for her follow up with the GYN. she wants to know a little about the subject and also know what works for other. Consider the vastness of the subject (based on the product list on Amazon) we thought we should start our research early.

My personal choice when it comes to lube for general use was the Durex lines. I liked the just normal lube they make. I didn't think it was two greasy feeling, and it was long lasting. As for oral it didn't have a bad taste or smell like some can. Stay away from the tingling stuff. Hope that helps

I've had the opposite effect since my hysterectomy. I now get VERY wet. If she still has her ovaries, this might be a temporary effect.

I like the WET products. KY dries out way too quickly. If you're not afraid to venture into a sex shop, they often have little sample packets that you can buy. This gives you a chance to try out the consistency of a few before you shell out for a bottle.

Thanks for the help. So far she has been very productive when it come to the natural stuff but I'm afraid that it may not be enough once we get the green light from the MD and I do not want to hurt her. I got on the local sex shops website and they carry a line that I had not heard of but I did not think about the samples good Idea. I'm hoping that it will not be a problem. I know she has been more horny then ever but that may be because sex is off limits and seems to always rachet up the sex drive but in case it does we want to be prepared. The overies were a large part of the problem and cause of the surgury so she no longer has them. What we do have is alot of adjusting to do with the hormones and that has a huge part in our furture sex life.

I don't know if you've been through the Blank Manual, but this topic was sort of covered previously in this thread. You may find some useful information there. Best of luck to you both as she recovers. :rose:

lubes

Get her to stay away from any lubes that contain sugars or Glycerines as they can manifest yeast infection in women prone to them, and after just getting over a hysterectomy she should be careful.

I recommend body-safe, natural, water-based lubricants like those from Good Clean Love, Intimate Organics, & Sliquid organics. None of these contain parabens which can also irritate the female genitals and cause infection.

I'm a huge fan of body-safe lubes and wouldn't use brands like KY, Astroglide, etc... Hope that helps!

I am finding that any form of KY is bad. but it is more difficutl to find out what lubes have suger in them. A few of the products that I've found on Amazon come with reveiws. The reveiws have been very helpful in finding what lubes have caused problems for others. we are leaning towards the swiss navy water based lube. It seems to have good reveiws and I like the design of the bottle. I dont want anything that is going to catch the kids attention. With out luck they would drag it out when grandma is badysitting and that would be akward to say the least. Astroglide gets good reveiws as well but I hear from alot of people who don't like it.
